GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH

Is it possible to run this USB Miner without a usb hub? I want to connect it directly to my USB3 port. I meant with its stock frequency.

It is possible, but the frequency at which can be run will depend on the specific USB port you are using. Note that you can even use a USB2 port, the main thing that matters is the power delivery of the port, not the data part of it.

If you run it slow, you can plug it in basically anywhere. The higher you run it, the least USB ports will work, and eventually you'll need a fan as well unless you want some melted components.

I've got USB 3.1 Gen 1. From my search it seems like it provides up to 900mA current

Got them clocked to 700MHz but they seem to be working their way down. They will hold then one will reset and work up to a lower MHz. Then the next one. Is it the voltage ? Or do I need to change the start MHz up to around 700MHz? After a while they stopped around 650Mhz and been holding it.

That is an extremely high clock setting and unless you have special cooling (water , liquid nitrogen etc) you won't be able to run the USB stick at that setting.
If you do have sufficient cooling, most USB hubs will not be able to provide sufficient power to hold that frequency.

IMHO these devices should stay under 600Mhz for most use cases.

What USB Hub/Port are you running them on? that speed is pulling some serious current. Even on a full Gekko Hub (6 sticks) I'm limited to 530m per stick due to regulator/port limitations.

Ive got one that is running 575mhz and another 650mhz both with bitcoin merch fans. I've slowly been bumping them up slowly the past couple months. Just two on a Gekko hub with a 6pin psu from an S9

I have lost the track here due to no images getting showed on the entire thread. Neither the OP images are visible so far. Is it possible for someone to show what these miner look like? I am more than interested in knowing if the “sticks” are really worth buying or not. I am surfing the forum for clues to know which miner could be way easier for new comer (in mining field).

I am not sure if this is similar to those USB miner sticks but the name suggests the same. However I am not able to tally the power which some of you stating more 300-500 GH for the sticks. Is this new generation USB or something that is so powerful? Or I’m talking about entirely different miner which is out dated already.

Thats amazing to see the sticks still works? I thought these were outdated long ago considering the fact that hash rate is pumping up lately and difficulty of the network is off the roof! It's cool to know that they are able to keep up with the profitability with such small device. I am wondering why everyone is into big sounding ASICs if small units are capable of doing the hashrate performance well up to 350 GH/s. I know miners are gone way up to TH/s capacity but isn't the stick can solve cooling power, low maintenance and thus one can have rows of sticks in a farm!

The miner is equipped with an AntMiner BM1397 ASIC chip, which is also used in the well-known AntMiner S17 and S17 Pro.

An adapted version of the well-known standard mining software CGMiner is available for the miner. This allows the clock rate of both ASICs to be adjusted using console parameters. In addition, a voltage regulator is installed, which allows the core voltage to be set from 550 mV to 800 mV without soldering skills.

If they already have the desired mechanism, and capability to solve the complex algo's then why we are not developing this tech into ideal working model. Imagine we were talking on the hallow tube driven telephones were a manual operator was the middle man and today we can reach anywhere in blink of an eye with our smartphones.

It is not a 'complex algo' - it's a simple hash.

ALL Bitcoin mining is a simple brute force hashing, of incrementing data, until a random hash is found that is above the requirement.

been getting lost shares - rejected shares - Stale share as well and twice duplicate shares

lost 1 shares due to no strahum share

when I start mining it starts with line below

Looked up  the above these are some of the comments I have found

Stale share: The share was submitted too late (probably because of the high latency or problems with connection). This is the only type of share that is expected to happen in small quantities thus it is considered normal.
Share above target: There is a problem with your mining software that needs to be inspected or configured properly.

Share above target is most commonly caused by an unstable overclock. To solve this problem, lower the overclock setting inside your overclocking tool. To read more about overclocking and underclocking, read this article.

How to remove stale shares?
Stale shares are most likely caused by high latency between your rig and NiceHash stratum server. Normal latency between a miner and NiceHash stratum should be somewhere between 10-100ms (lower is better).

Stale shares can be a result of using a VPN or a slow internet connection. Try disconnecting from the VPN or using a faster internet connection

How to remove stale shares?

When are you getting stale shares?

If after a block change then it is normal.  Your miner sometimes continues to send shares from the previous block when a there is a block change, until your miner receives new and valid work.

If not, then I don't know.

All normal with all mining.

Stale is due to your connection to the pool, and the fact that the internet is not instant.

e.g. on my pool the average is about 1 stale per hour per miner - that's clearly shown on the top of every web page.
You wont get much better than this anywhere.
Of course if your internet is crap, or you mine to a pool a long way away, it may be a lot higher.

Dups are due to CPU load and OS task switching.

I never ordered to Bitcoinmerch myself, as I live in Eastern Europe, the shipping fee is expensive. My Compac F all came with fans

By the way, I would be interested if we are able to find a Noctua fan which is appropriate, I would like to have some in advance and the quality of the fans I own is pretty bad.

Noctua does not make 40mm fans with a USB connector. We've tried to convince them to do a custom build, but no luck yet.

So if you want to use a Noctua fan with Compac f, you'll have to get the fan and adapter separately, and then mount them on the fan shroud.

was running compact f miners under windows was getting around 1th but notice the miners take up a lot of usage under windows.running them under Ubuntu  wanted to know if there is a thread for changing frequency under Ubuntu
