This is not a good idea in my own opinion, it is better to abstain from gambling if you looking for a way to take a break, or minimize loses but to some point gambling with fake money does not help the gamblers in any way.

Some people can think about taking a break and not gambling if they want to reduce the losses at the gambling table.
But others will continue to gamble with real money, including those who use counterfeit money.
Maybe they find something interesting when they use the counterfeit money so that it makes them continue playing with fake money when their money runs out.

but at least he's wasting his time and not wasting any more money. This does make a person bored but must be done to be able to stop his activities from gambling for real money. I think it depends on what goal the players are pursuing. If they spend their free time, they can play for fun. I remember when I was a kid, we played card games and the one who lost had to fulfill some harmless desire and in fact we were quite enough excitement. Correct, gambling games are designed to be as fun as they can be when you put money at risk, all other games are designed to give fun without the need to use money but gambling is different, so the games lose a great deal of their fun factor when you stop using money, which in return may cause the person that had some gambling issues to desire to gamble with money even more strongly, so if someone wants to quit it is better they do it for good instead of trying to gamble with play money.

Haha it's the same as if a marijuana smoker didn't know he was addicted to pot. A gambling addict is aware of his problems but the main question is whether he wants to solve these problems or if he is fine with it. A gambling addict enjoys gambling because he gets hormones released in his body that boost his self-esteem, mood, etc. All this quickly ends when he loses all the money and again comes a moment of depression. This endless cycle can be broken if one is willing to deal with the addiction.

Setting the boundary clear between your needs and wants exhibits a discipline. If someone do not really afford to gamble because of financial constraints, then they shouldn't really engage in the first place. Gambling is addicting and if you don't have the money you can afford to lose, then better not bet at all. Just prioritize the necessities instead of spending it over games that cannot make your stomach full.

While gambling can bring you money if you win, we should also acknowledge the fact that not everyday is a good day.
