But one of the things we should note is that, for what purpose is the gambler breaking away from gambling, is it because the gambler is losing money or because the addiction is taking a hold on their real life and affecting them negatively?
This question needs to be answered because, one needs to set the priority clear if a gambler wants to break an addiction then the best way is a total withdrawal from any form of gambling, and shift attention to another positive real-life activity.

I agree that it will help us save money but I do not think that it will help to avoid gambling addiction.  With exposure in gambling games, using fake money can trigger us to use real money to suffice that curiousness we had in mind.  Aside from that, if we have a good outcome in our fake money gambling engagement, we might get tempted to use real money.  But of course this depends on the subject since different people have different level of cautiousness and level of valuing money.

I think the idea and method of betting with fake money can't work for heavy gambling addicts.

I have a friend who is addicted to heavy gambling, his nature likes to have fun, splurge, shopping without calculation, he can't be calm/stressed without money for one day, that's what happened to my friend, fact, for that according to my understanding gambling addicts are not just gambling, high imaginations, exceeding normal people.

And I guess those who are already in the state of addiction can hardly manage to control urges if they're all alone. Of course it needs strong resolve from them and the will to really change. I agree with you, without real money in gambling the games like poker or blackjack become very different. I used to play some poker only with play money to try some new strategies and found that people play more aggressive if it's not there own money they lose. There were so many more All ins happening that it became not realistic to keep trying out new strategies. To me the excitement in gambling comes not only from winning or losing, but also from the chance to win a big jackpot. Without the chances of winning real money the thrill is not there. It would be nice to have a casino where you can only win, unfortunately that is not realistic. For us to have the chance to win a jackpot, we must also face the chance to lose money. The only real alternative I see to money would be to gamble with things. For example, you could gamble with your PS4 and if you win you get another one.
