An alternative to gambling with money.

I'm kinda neutral to this. Almost everything has a pros and cons. This maybe a good thing for newbie or someone who wanted to entertain himself but may also lead to trying it with real money and became addicted. Not all but once someone tried gambling, it will be very hard to resist the next time. If you are already a gambler with real money it may not be appealing as it is missing something like thrill, chance to win real money, etc.

As long as the person realizes that he can also find enjoyment in gambling using fake money, he will not try to use real money. But if one day he wonders how it will turn out if he uses real money to gamble and starts using real money, he will have the potential to become addicted. We know that gambling can change a person easily and in a short time, especially if he can win a lot of money because as a beginner in gambling, his chances of getting a win can be greater than others.

But playing with fake money can provide a gambling experience and if one can think about it further, it will give him a chance to save his money from losing the consequences of gambling with real money. In addition, even though the experience is not thrilling due to the factor of losing real money, he can still enjoy all the gambling games because the fake money provides an opportunity to experience it. But if, in the end, they decide to use real money, hopefully, they can control themselves not to spend a lot of money on gambling.

The feel of the game yes but the gambling experience no.

Gamble for money or take a risky action for a possible better result.  Both are missing when playing with the fake money.  So basically it isn't a gambling experience but just a game experience since there is no risk imparted to it.  So basically it is true you can save money but it is always dangerous because a player might want more and anytime can decide to have a feel of a real gambling experience.

I don't think gambling with fake money will solve any problem, I think that's just like a demo account? How will you feel when you are gambling with the fake money and you endup winning all your gamble but you can't make withdrawal, definitely you will start thinking what if you used your real money, you will have make enough money so you will end up quitting the fake money and deposit your money and start using the app. I don't know maybe it happens to me alone, whenever am using a demo account am always winning but whenever I start using my main account things won't really go well again. So to me using fake money won't solve any problem.

Before you use it, I bet you already know that it wasn't real. You did not deposit any real money so why will you feel bad in case you win on that game? I may be wrong with this but what if that's what the demo account made for? You know, to entice the player to bet in a real thing. We should not fall for this because we already know what will be the outcome the moment we play gambling for real.

If we want to stop gambling, there are better ways out there that we can do. I think the real purpose of them if why are invented is to test the game and to create a certain strategy. More importantly is to play for fun since there's no money involved in here.

You're not alone in that regard but for some reason, if you have something in mind that is more important than losing money in a gamble that may change a bit. I think it always comes in the responsibility in each of us who wants to gamble and deal with real money, as a human oftentimes we tend to risk it without having second thoughts especially if we have something in mind like, "I can earn the lose next time", "my partner or my family members can still handle the daily financial stuff", etc etc.

Not a good reason for most gamblers I suppose but if you're responsible in and out, you'll be having second thoughts even if it means seeking the thrill or the chance of winning. In the end, gambling most of the time weighs on the losing side.

That won't change everything. We are talking about a gambling addict and not a regular one. They won't satisfy with play money as they are used to playing on real money. That craving you are talking about can't be applied here as what I said, the gambler is already in addiction and trying to recover.

Playing at play money is not a good idea for these types of gamblers.

It won't help them to recover but rather they will just miss playing at real gambling.

At least for those that are not yet addicted but looking to have fun, this is for them. Zero cost and they get to enjoy the entertainment value being offered through play money.

That depends on your crave, if you're totally satisfied with gambling with play money then you're good at it. But it's true that if you're not satisfied and you want to gamble for real, it's just going to increase your desire to gamble more with real money.
There's no sense that you hit the jackpot but it's just play money and you want thrilling reality if that's a real money that's good to be cashed out.

Let us say for example an addict is going through the same sentiments as you when gambling with fake money. How long are they supposed to play without the buzz of a real bet before they give in to their cravings?

Addiction of any sort is problematic and the way to tackle addictions should based around the dependency as each has their own core (alcoholism, gambling, drugs, etc) but having an alternative to "gambling with money" as in the thread title states to include a motion where an addict places a bet even with zero value attached seems to me a huge step backwards.

The idea would be to break the betting cycle of an addict therefore allowing various ways for gambling addicts to continue betting as a means to recovery seems both pointless and dangerous.

Personally I never liked using play money when gambling. I felt like I am just wasting my time. Although I can understand that it may work on some people though hence some casinos have them. But for me, I would rather spend even if it's only a very small amount of money just to satisfy my crave to gamble. I remember when I was in college, I still went out to gamble despite limited money at that time. I exited later in less than 30 minutes after losing.

That is the number one factor why this alternative does not work.A gambler even if he hits the maximum pay line from a slot machine for example when not playing with real money does not feel any different emotion or the adrenaline that he would have felt if that maximum pay line were to be hit in a real money environment.I know a lot of my colleagues who try to quit gambling by playing demo games of their favorite slot but so far no one of them has been able to quit gambling,they still play with real money so the alternative does not work.

In this case I tried to simulate myself playing myself by gambling but without using real money there and doing a demo game on one of the sites and the result is that this only gives me an increased sense of family and just for fun when playing with play money because this is not taken seriously so indeed this does not solve the problem in my opinion to reduce addiction. As for the demo, I won the Jackpot, but as you said when you realized this was a demo, there really wasn't much fun and this actually made me want to play for real money

You wont really able to get from addiction if you do really make yourself able to play more even if its fake money or some sort of bonuses but still it would really be retaining that addiction you do have inside.
If you are really that serious on quitting or getting away from addiction then you should really be making yourself to be that able to avoid any gambling related activities or betting.
There's no alternative because if you do make out continous engagement then you wont really get away from it and also gamblers doesnt really love on playing fake money
because the thrill and excitement you would get isnt really the same when you do play and using the real ones.

Actually I will not be satisfied with the fake money gambling. I don't know what will be with the others. Because I know it's fake. So won't have any interest in that gamble and I think those who are addicted to gambling never feel comfortable with this kind of strategy. They like to play real. That will be a sarcastic decision, how can one leave gambling or reduce the amount of time or money spend on gambling by playing on a fake apps, i don't think that make any sense to me. I will advise a total withdrawal will be the best option if one is really  determine to let go of gambling for any reason.

Playing gambling with fake apps probably is not a good idea to other gamblers. On the contrary, to some players this is a good I guess. But in general we don't know what's the deep reason why they do this thing. So withdrawal is only a matter of choice for each gamblers, no one is dictating to do this, instead all the answers you will see here is obviously the opinions by the community here.

As I understand in the situation described by you, the number of beans that are in the hands of the players is strictly defined and unchangeable. So each bean has a value, because if you lose all the beans you can not continue to play. It makes no difference what you're gambling for even when you win a few beans you get pleasure as you have received a reward on which the whole system of gambling is based and therefore playing for beans you can get addicted to gambling.

And it is not difficult to see why, unlike video games which are built to be fun by themselves and in which you can enjoy your time playing them over and over again even if there is not money at risk, gambling games were in fact designed from the beginning with the idea of putting your money at risk, if you use play money then there is no risk taking place and as such the game can seem dull to some, so even if we use a small amount of money the feeling is completely different and the excitement is back when we win, which is what makes gambling interesting for the vast majority of gamblers out there.
