Austria 0-1 Turkiye

Turkiye is performing quite well against Austria now. Turkiye is very good. Turkiye managed to score in the first minute of the match. In the first minute, Merih Demiral sent the ball to Austria's goal post taking advantage of the carelessness of Austria's defenders. After Turkiye took the lead, they kept their defense tight. There was nearly a 4 goal just before the end, it was extremely close. The header from Baumgartner was well saved by Günok. The ball was so close to/in the goal, a last second move like that makes him a winner. Turkey are now through to the next round and have to play against a very strong Dutch team. I would bet on Holland in this game, they are currently playing very good football and Gakpo has already scored 3 goals in 4 games, he has a strong streak. This match was full of emotion and very tight. Yes, you could say winning the penalty shootout was luck, but if you look closely, it wasn't just luck, but thanks to Diogo Costa's epic performance. Despite being the most underrated player in penalty shootouts, he proved himself to be the best goalkeeper in Portugal's history because he made three consecutive saves.

At this junction, I don’t know who to support but I will be supporting Germany because I am expecting some good results from them especially as they are the host of the tournament.

This between Slovenia and Portugal, Slovenia were actually up to something else that I did not understand, it is not that they played so exceptional. But they were persistent. Penalty miss by Ronaldo and Pepe's mistake would have sent Portugal home but Diago Costa said no and saved the whole country.

I have not seen a match that the goalkeeper was so determine to win the game for their nation as the match between Portugal and Slovenia. Without Diago Costa, Portugal campaign would had ended on a very sad note but still I am not convinced with Portugal campaign this competition. Ronaldo has not scored since the tournament started and that is unlike him, Portugal are not very convincing and I am beginning to feel that their time is the competition is about to end. They got lucky in the last knockout game but maybe next time they would not be that lucky.  A glorious night for all of Turkey; not just the players as they qualified for the next round. I couldn't believe it myself when I saw them defeat a very stubborn Austria and even more so that they were able to do this with no much tactics to speak of, just defend and press on the counter when they have the chance, unlike Austria who were more rounded.
 Football is really an unpredictable sport that's why it's not always safe to bet on the favorites of any match as things can turn around.
Turkey before the tournament began were not able to convince fans with their performance as they were shaky and no one would have tipped them to even make it to this stage.
I feel that it's the teams you least expect to prove something that will shock spectators in this tournament. Judging by the big names that qualified to the next stage, I doubt Turkey will be able to celebrate their victory for long so they just have to celebrate now as long as they can.

If I had to talk about the match in the last 16 rounds. It was a match that I was excited about every second of it. I haven't seen our national team play so focused and clear lately. We knew that Austria was not an easy team, they came first despite which teams were in the group they were leading, and it was not a coincidence that it was because they played well.

The player of the match was Merih. Even though he was a defender, he scored two goals and was selected as the player of the match. He had a very good match.
