About the boss, I will not answer. What kind of apprentice? If he loses the money, will the boss give him anything in return? I will never give the boss anything but just little amount if I appreciate him as a boss.

For the first story, I think it’s reasonable to just give the half price of his winnings to his girlfriend, regardless if she is the one who bet or not. As long as the capital belongs to his girlfriend, then it’s as good as that winnings could never be possible without the $10k from his girlfriend.

For the second story, I think splitting half the prize is never reasonable at all. Even though he’s the boss, he should not interfere with the personal life of his apprentice. It’s his money so he deserves all the rewards. Although giving just a little portion of his winnings, not totally half of it, is still a good thing to do out of respect and superiority.

Any amount that his girlfriend says would be a reasonable amount to give since it's her money and he stole it so I feel like the guy doesn't have a favorable situation here even though he managed to multiply her money by a lot.

For the other story, i'd abandon the training or look for other ways to replace your boss since it's not worth the effort when you have that kind of boss who would suddenly decide to have a share in your winnings.

1. If a guy stole $10k he should go to jail and he's obligated to pay damages - $10k, the rest of the money is rightfully his.
2. I don't know how big this is (because it's some weird currency) but I think the best strategy for a student would be to send their boss to hell and keep all the money for themselves.

This is my opinion, but I understand that different people have different relationships and it’s not a pity for someone to give their girlfriend even 5 million. This is a subjective matter.

I think we should consider the other side of the story had it been he lost in the bet, I believe he gave her back the same amount that he stole simply because his girlfriend is not worth giving more than that. May be before he won the gamble she has said a lot of bad things to him thinking that he was going to lose and pay her back the amount that he stole or her attitude towards him when she realised that her boyfriend is a gambler has not been fare, probably there must be something that is not clear in the story of OP.

Did you read the scenario, he stole the money from her.  You think it's just fair if she gets back the same amount of money.  And if he stole 10k what makes you think he would pay her back since he didn't have the money in the first place.  I think you need to re read the scenario, and if you did than your moral compass needs adjusting.

Usually, if we have a lover, we give him more and want to make him happy. But for the first story, I wonder why he only gave $10k to his girlfriend and didn't give more because it was his girlfriend's money that he stole. He is a very ungrateful person. I just hope he can realize that he has been helped by his girlfriend indirectly.

And for the second story, this is a case that might also happen elsewhere where the boss asks his employees for a share when they get something. If I were his employee, maybe I would have reported it to the police so my boss would be arrested for forcing me to give away the winnings.

On the first scenario since he stole the money his girlfriend has the right to demand that 40million in his 100 million earning, I believe even the girl will make a complain or the guy will be sued still he stole the money so the girl will win the case, if he don't want to be in jail and left without anything in his winning jackpot so he should give that and gamble again if he wants.

A confusing situation (at least the first one) and it all depends on the evidence base and the legal status of the operations that took place. If a girl has evidence that her boyfriend stole the money, then he faces a prison term (again, you need to look at the jurisdiction and see how long the term is), so if you settle the matter amicably, it may be more profitable to give 40 million.
The second case is no less confusing, I think it's worth weighing what is more important - money or "public opinion" and make a choice. For me, public opinion has zero value, but as you can see, for that student it doesn't matter at all.

My emphasis are on case 1 and your replies; do you mean that if it were you, all you'd do is  -- let out the money you stole from your girl's purse? Would that really make true, the love that you claimed to have for her? Do you know that if she decides to Sue you, you'll have to pay for property damages? Story number two I’d have to dig a little further in to. I’m not sure his mentor really deserves anything, but it would seemingly make sense for the apprentice to help him out at least a little bit.

Story number one is pretty crazy. There’s no question that he needs to give her far more than just the 10k he stole. At minimum she is deserving of at least a million and more than likely probably a couple million. After all without her he’d have none of it !

His girlfriend deserves to get bigger money since the man used the money to win 100 million. If the man quite loves his girlfriend, I'm sure he won't mind giving her bigger money. 1-10 million for that girl seems the right amount to give. That money has a vital role to win 100 million, how can the man pay her back 10k only? The man becomes greedy after having big money, he forgets the way he earned it. I suspect, the man no longer loves the girl now. lol

I don't understand why his boss wants a share of 16 million. The man used his own money, right? 
If he got the money in his own way, the boss didn't deserve to get anything. Unless the man used his boss's money to win 16 million, the boss deserves to get 50:50. However, ideally, they must have an agreement first before the man used the boss's money on BET.

For the story 1, I would say the liable amount to be returned is 10K only cause that is what he stole apart from that he may face legal actions if there is enough evidence to prove the case in the court, but if ethically speaking then 10% is still a good deal to pay instead of 40%.

Story 2, if the money belonging to you and you won the reward then there is nothing have to be paid.

Yes, specially case number 2, however, as others have said, even if the boss is the mentor, I wouldn't split that money from him. I mean you know it fair, you didn't use anyone's money here. And just because you won big, he wanted to have part of it? that's wrong. And maybe this is really a lesson for us gamblers, never to mix love and gambling or never let anyone knows if you win huge amount of gambling money because everyone will be on your neck.

I like the comment by one guy on Twitter, you are not a slave to force anyone to give you his winnings unless they have a signed contract, he should give him based on what you want to give him, its your money, and it's your rule, people show their colors when they see you with a lot of money and you don't want to be around this kind of people.

This is funny as because of the money, their relationship is now in jeopardy.

A man is a piece of crap for not giving his girlfriend a fair amount while the girl becomes a slave of money when she demanded a specific amount.

Feel sad about this event but I think it's just a makeup story and not really true.

Apprentices or what we called it doesn't have a responsibility to give money to their boss. I don't know the story behind that case.

The story 1 reminds of those girlfriends that act as a wife as if they're already married but not yet have came to that point. They are no way to demand that amount of money from the whole $100M that has been won. Well, the boyfriend if he really loves her will give that in but I guess there's a catch why that woman is demanding him with that amount of money. If a girlfriend is supportive and really loves the man of her life, she won't demand any money from him and just let him be if he'll hand out some or none.

The girl has the right to demand half of the winnings since the money used is her own money without her consent.  But well, the guy can just marry his girlfriend to solve all the problem about money  .  

A lesson learned here is never to share the news of your winnings with your girlfriend unless you are ready to share some of it.

There is an agreement hidden from most people.  As I read the replies, I came to the conclusion that it is generous for the Master/Boss to split the winnings.  It is taboo to us but once the boy is into an apprenticeship of the said tribe, he has no right to own anything.  All the expenses are shouldered by the boss so if things happen southward, the boss will keep on spending money for the apprenticeship of this boy.  It is the agreement between the boss and the apprentice.

Story 1 is a though one, if she was our wife she would be entitled to 50% of the money. But as our girlfriend I am not sure howuch she can claim. If I was in that situation I would check it with a lawyer to make sure I am not making any mistake with the law. It was her money, but he returned it and he was the one taking the risk. In case he lost the bet he would still need to return the money. Also it depends on how long are you dating, is she the love of your life and do you want to get married? There could be a compromise, like you use half of the money to only buy things together, get married and share a life together.
Story 2 seems really unfair, if you gamble with your own money why should you be forced to share it with your boss? There is no way I would have give any money to my boss. And a 50:50 split is ridiculous, rather I would quit and look for a new job. With my large winnings I would also have enough pocket money to relax until I find a new job. When it comes to money friendship stops, and a boss is even below my friends. I would be more comfortable to share my money with my girlfriend than with my boss. This makes me a bit angry, I really feel bad for the guy.

Here the first person to steal 10K and win 100 million should have given his girlfriend an additional amount. On the one hand, his crime of theft would be forgivable and they would maintain a good relationship with her. And the question that comes up in the second story, I think it's the boss being wronged by the apprentice. He is in no way entitled to take this money. Maybe boss cannot control his greed and is forcing him to pay. But according to me he is not belongs to get the payment.

~ The girlfriend has the option to go to court and to lay a claim of theft against her boyfriend (or soon to be ex-boyfriend) ..and as soon as she wins that case, she then initiate a claim against the winnings... because he would not have won the money, if he did not use her money.

Story 2 :

The owner of the business does not have any claim against any of the money that the apprentice won, but if the owner of the business can show proof that the apprentice won that money, when he was supposed to work.... he can terminate the apprenticeship.
