In the World Cup anything can happen. A poor start doesn't necessarily mean that subsequent matches will be similarly strong. In fact early performances can sometimes be good, allowing a team to continually evaluate their performance, as was the case with Argentina during the World Cup in Qatar. After a surprising loss to Saudi Arabia they continued to improve improving their performance and ultimately securing the title.

Don't you see where I've started seeing a lot of surprises, I actually agree with you that poor start does not guarantee subsequent defeat, sometimes a team would like to underestimate their opponent but I don't see that happening when Spain played, when a team have a very poor result at their first match that particular result motivated them to improve in their performance and just like someone mentioned about Argentina losing their first match in the last World Cup Saudi Arabia and unfortunately it all turn round to be a big opportunity for them by improving themselves and that is how they went ahead to win the world Cup. I am expecting a lot of surprises in this competition which are started seeing and more are still coming because the competition is just starting.

France won the match against Senegal, but in the first half, Senegal looked much better—they attacked a lot, while the French were just chasing the ball. France was very lucky not to concede in the first half. After the break, the game changed completely; it seems Deschamps found the right words in the dressing room, and a completely different France team came out for the second half. Senegal could no longer play freely, and the French put pressure on the opponent's goal. Olise was named Man of the Match, which was very fair—he created a lot of danger near the opponent's goal, and it was his passes that set up Mbappe's goals. It was a very spectacular match. I think if the Olise-Mbappe partnership continues to develop, France will definitely be able to challenge for the World Cup title.

Sincerely i agree with you, Senegal were outstanding during the first half, they pulled through with so much confidence, I believe they didn't utilize their chances very well, else they would have scored a lot of goals that first. What helped the France team in the later part of the second half was individual brilliance they had, Olise and Mbappe stood out and made the difference, because it got to a point the French side were stocked and couldn't penetrate easily into the Senegalese defence. I still believe Senegal have the ability to pull through the group stage, they have the firepower.

It was already expected  that France was going to win the game, but what surprised me the most was how Senegal performed in that game, like it was really amazing, had it been they utilize their chances at the first half maybe they could have won or draw the game, but their miss was too much, and France came back stronger in the second half, and their forward is actually something else, just imagine Kylian Mbappe scoring a brace, and Olise having two assist, that alone shows that Senegal was never a match for them.

I was unable to place a bet on this match, and I would have just got another at the opportunity of winning because I already know that France had more about hand in winning the game over Senegal, and I knew mbappé will perform well and have a possible chance of scoring a goal or more, this is impressive and shows that there is lot of excitement and fun we could get from this world cup if we place our bet and follow up with the matches without missing for anything.

What about Norway that played against Iraq, I think it is also easy for them just like France and Argentina. I will say that it is better for you to include Germany because everything is all about opportunity, take a look at Spain that find it very difficult to win a team, so many people have confidence that spin will win their first match but look at how it ended, they did very well but they are able to hold Spain down and match ended draw.

In this competition I realize one thing that we should not underestimate any team that are present in the World Cup, everything that are present in the World Cup undergo qualification stage, which we all know that there are many teams who could not be able to appear just because they could not qualify, so having an opportunity to be present in the World Cup shows that all the teams are good and they cannot be on the estimated.

I was also happy to see mbappe performing very well yesterday he was so exceptional, and again I cannot forget the wonderful performance from olise, he did very well in fact he was the one that assisted mbappe in scoring the first goal and that was a very brilliant and exceptional assist, after watching France play yesterday against Senegal I think they are the favorite to win this world cup I don't see anything that can stop them they are doing very well and they have a lot of squad.

Portugal have a great team and are fantastic overall but they’ll have to prove it once again by defeating DR Congo, I might expect much from Ronaldo considering his age and output but sometimes he works best under pressure.

Similarly Spain early draw against Tanjung Varde didn't reflect poorly on them. In fact it was a positive step for the Argentine coach allowing him to continually evaluate their performance especially their ineffective attack. The coach also realized that benching players like Yamal, Nico and Olmo was a fatal mistake, making it difficult for them to penetrate the opposing defense. There are many things that the Spanish coach needs to fix to become better, for me even though they got a draw in the first match with a weak team like Tanjung Varde, Spain is still the favorite team in this World Cup.

I think starting them on the bench at the beginning of the match was a mistake. Or maybe they were trying to gauge the strength of the opponent, who might have been underestimated. The result doesn't really reflect a poor performance, but we might see that teams from smaller countries also have the quality to compete in big tournaments. 
Some teams ended up drawing, which will make the next matches a tough competition. Especially those in groups B, G, and H.

Maybe he underrated the opponents, thinking the players he choose to start would be enough to produce results in the first half before bringing in those players to complete the job, but that first match should've taught him a lesson he won't repeat again, it's the World Cup and no team should be underrated.
 Winning that match would've meant a lot to Spain but all hope is not lost yet cause they still remain the favourite to finish in the best position in their group but I hope the players and coach learnt from the Cabo Verde match, they need to if they want to do well in that group or go far in the tournament.

It was already obvious that France was the better and stronger team.
Senegal showed a lot of lapses at the back which France took advantage of and didn't show any mercy. That is what football is all about.
If Senegal wants to go further in this tournament, they must fix their defense. Their next match is against Norway...hmmmm. I don't want to sound pessimistic so I'll stop here for now.

Still there is a concern that the good teams have been drawing in the last few matches. I was very optimistic about Spain but they drew with the World Cup newcomers. Haaland scored a brace which was impressive and they put the ball into the opponent's net very easily. It would be an understatement to not praise such intelligent and talented players.
Portugal have put together a great team for this World Cup under Roberto Martínez. They have some young and talented players in the team and if they can perform at their best, it won't be too difficult to win against DR Congo.

France and Argentina currently look like the leading favourites for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. As a fan, I have a lot of respect and confidence in both teams, especially after watching their opening matches. Defending champions Argentina look like one of the strongest contenders, while France once again appear ready to compete for football's biggest prize. Of course, there are several other strong teams but, we'll get a much clearer picture once the Round of 16 begins.

As for now we can't conclude on anything yet because England and Portugal have not played their own games, because they are one of the favorites for the trophy.
I see France and Argentina going far in the competition because they  have shown superiority in the way they play and in how easy it was for them to get the goals needed to claim all three points. But as I have said already, we can't conclude that only this two teams are the most dominant team because Portugal and England have not played their own matches yet.

I think Argentina and France played very well in their opening match at the world cup,  which I think it's a good one for them, but I will not write off the other big teams that did not start well, because this is the world cup and some teams don't start well, but ends well. I have been very impressed with the world cup final already, because their have been some few upsets and I can also feel the determination of some small team. I think we will still see more upset in this competition.

Argentina played a very good game, especially Messi, I was quite surprised, a player that old is still very sharp, 3 well-deserved goals by Messi.

This is the kind results some club will get when they value their old players to come home to play for them which is what Argentina and France did to secure what they secured from those clubs yesterday to stand in a good position to go far in this FIFA world cup. My first two favourite teams are cheering me up in this world cup competition, Argentina and France. what an incredible performance, Mbappe and Lionel Messi is at it again with their goal scoring capacity this tournament, Mbappe scored 2 goals and Lionel Messi scored 3 to become one of the world cup top goal scorer of all time, after Miroslav Klose held it for quite some years now. Apart from Saudi Arabia and Iran, the teams from the Middle East are very weak. I think they will all return to their countries after the group matches. Iran might be eliminated due to the pressure they are under. Saudi Arabia might qualify as the best third-placed team in the group, but they will also be eliminated in the next round. The number of teams in the World Cup has increased, but there are no quality teams.

Plenty of shocking results happened, not just Spain and Cape Verde game, but there were many other games as well. Brazil and Morocco being tied, Netherlands and Japan game, Belgium and Egypt, and most importantly, Iran game, which we were not even sure if they would be even allowed to play and they somehow did get in, still managed to get a tie from that game.

So yeah, there are plenty of games that people did not expected and yet it worked very well for them. I am assuming this would not be all that complicated.

Spain and Cape Verde are just some of the teams where the result was not what everyone expected, this is what happens when expectations are too high, it always happens like this, and this happens when people think that having talented kids is everything, in the end having all these talents didn't help.
