I think Congolese have players who are not generally good, and judging by their physique, it's natural that Portugal was overwhelmed in this match. In my opinion, if Congo advances to the next round, there's potential for many Congolese players to be acquired by popular clubs around the world. Portugal had more opportunities in my own view than Dr Congo, they didn't just initialize it enough, though I will agree with you that Congo approached the game with tight defence, making it hard for Portugal to easily penetrate, even the few chances Ronaldo missed were majorly on tight angles and close marking, so it wasn't an easy one. What I expected Portugal to do, was to strike from outside the 18 yard box more. However I've been very careful with my bet this period, because the countries that people seem to look as underdogs have been surprising their doubters, so ever since, I've been careful with my choice of selection.

England has a very strong team and Croatia also has a very strong team but it can not be compared with that of England though the possession difference was not much but they did well and england has  more expected goals and the attempts was also numerous and I'm sure if not for a team like England, the Croatian would have won yesterday. Winning the first leg is always good and it gives teams advantage and hope.

The kind of players that England has, it will be difficult for Croatia to just win them just like that because the squad is not something that ve handled and if england had drawn or even lost the game yesterday, then I would have been disappointed because they had players like kane who scored two goals and saka given one assist and that is why we did not panic for them to win the game yesterday.

When you can win, there is actually more hope for you to advance, and now they will want to do even better because of the way they won yesterday, their spirits will be high, and they will want to do better in their next game. DR Congo even got 2 shots on target despite that Portugal had a possession of 75% - while Congo had 25%. The defense of DR Congo did everything possible to prevent Portugal from a maneuver. I can even count how many times that Ronaldo touched the ball. African teams are becoming too difficult for some top European teams to win. Who would have known that despite all the expectation from Cristiano Ronaldo that he will end this match without scoring a goal, knowing that his rival player Lionel Messi scored a hat trick earlier today. Anyway, Portugal struggled during the qualifier stage so it's not surprising that they faced difficulty in their first match.

I honestly thought that they would have done much better than this, i felt very strongly about this match and i think that the debut would have been softer for Cristiano Ronaldo, who instead didn't score, the match was a bit lackluster, but i have to say that there are situations where we can improve, they were certainly trying too hard to get the ball to CR7.

They noticed every bit of mistakes, and call it out. But on a normal day where other players do the same they don't talk about it, very biased sets of individuals.

Portugal has more World Cup appearances than DR Congo, that can be interpreted as more experience than DR Congo but how Portugal was far below expectation in how they played this game still surprised me, good a thing I didn't place a bet on this game because I was surely going to bet on Portugal to win. Looking at the statistics we see that possession is the only tangible average with which Portugal was ahead of DR Congo. Portugal even had more yellow cards which can also be interpreted as lesser performing discipline. So Portugal was just not stable enough playing this game, I wonder how they will cope when they meet other countries that are better than DR Congo.

Playing against a team you know you are bigger than , you should be aware that they will be more defensive and so your approach should be one that is centered around the midfield so as to bait the defense to come attempt getting the ball with the hope of a possible attacking success, that way their defense will loosing up a little and you will be able to bridge in and make use of the opportunities, you can always create this opportunities. To think that Portugal has a midfielder like Bruno who would have made this possible even makes me wonder more what exactly happened there. Portugal had all the chances and advantage but did less, I'm beginning to doubt  them now. Congo can be likened to Arsenal and Portugal maybe a failed PSG, this ain't even funny BTW.

it wasn't just Harry Kane who played well the whole team played well. honestly, I didn't expect such spectacular football from England. before the match I thought it would end 1-0 or 1-1 but I'm glad I was wrong. if England continues to play such style of attack and improves their defense a little they will be one of the clear favorites to reach the final. as for advancing from the group, there's no doubt about that because Ghana and Panama look much weaker.

Damn! What the h*ll was that? Portugal had 70% possession but only managed to score one goal? Being packed with quality players apparently guarantees nothing. It's very disappointing.

At first, I thought Portugal would score at least two or three goals. But things didn't go as expected. Ronaldo, in particular, failed to live up to expectations. And if they had taken a few of their chances more efficiently, the match definitely wouldn't have ended in a draw like this.

It's not the one goal that should be the problem but the fact that it was their only shot on target in the whole 90 minutes. Portugal came into the game being the clear favorites but one thing I've noticed in this tournament is that if one small team survives against a big team, the rest will get the feeling that they too can survive and also, it's like these teams are more desperate and hungry to prove a point than the other known teams so let's say Portugal underestimated DR Congo.

Everyone is underestimate England team but this England team is so perfect they beat Croatia 4:2 very comfortably.  People are talking about the favorite list France, Germany, Argentina, Brazil but no one is talking about England is the Favourite. But if you watch the opening match of England they are so very well balanced team and very perfectly excavated tactics. Hope England continue their performance like that's Tuchial created very good team and not only depends on big name like Bellingham or Kane. They all work as team.

When I saw Portugal and Dr Congo I didn't go for any options i just picked Portugal to win the game having this strong believe that Portugal was going to win Dr Congo without much stress but i was wrong. Dr Congo played well to have held Portugal to a 1-1 draw there defence was actually good as they gave Portugal a very close mark that Portugal never had an better opportunity to score and win the game, i was also expecting Ronaldo to be striking from far but such chance wasn't given to him. A draw isn't a bad result but they need to win their remaining two games if they want to qualify to the next stage.

2 days ago, when Messi scored his first-ever World Cup hat trick in Argentina's 3-0 victory over Algeria, people were saying that Messi and Ronaldo don't get old and were saying that we will see Ronaldo tomorrow (mostly Ronaldo fans). But honestly, these two footballers are different from each other and Messi is really on another level. Ronaldo fans, don't get me wrong, your guy is very hard working and was amazing but he is not amazing today. Messi is a natural talent and he never had to train as hard as Ronaldo. Since Ronaldo was training extremely hard, it left an impact on his body. The more you use the body, the more it tires, that's why Ronaldo struggles more than him.

Honestly, I don't think that Portugal will win the World Cup. This team can't win the final.

Don't equate anything with Lionel Messi; they're both very different, Lionel Messi with Argentina, and Cristiano Ronaldo with Portugal. It's just a matter of timing. It just so happens that C. Ronaldo's unimpressive performance in the match was a burden on his team. It's not just Ronaldo's performance, but we also need to see if the other players are doing the same things Ronaldo did in front of goal. For example, did Bruno Fernandes have a shot on target in that match, or did Bernardo Silva both have no chance.

And about the Brazil team I would say they have also bad luck and as well performing in bad form bad blood because the neymar junior and also the Rodrygo is now on injury even neymar could play it in the future matches but Rodrygo have less chances. I felt bad for Ronaldo you know, I really did. Not like he didn’t get chances to get goals though, he had a couple of them chances but, he just wasn’t getting it in the best position and as such, he just wouldn’t execute it properly. He really needed to score, considering the fact that Messi just net hat trick for Argentina yesterday. At least they got to share points though, Dr. Congo were good defensively and were able to hold Portugal back.

Ronaldo was off balance on most of the chance but however as the Portugal first match  and a player that we have always compare with Messi should have still score for his country even if is not more than one but unfortunately he was neither the scorer of Portugal or the best performing player of the country because most players even performed than Ronaldo and Portugal was not attacking DR Congo through Ronaldo because they were exploiting more other means. DR Congo was unexpectedly awesome on the match because all the impression of the match was for the wining to come from Portugal because is usually hard to see a squad like Portugal and doesn't think they will be the winner.

England played well in their first match, particularly in midfield and front line , where they looked very creative in their build up play. However, there was still something lacking in their performance, as  their defence wasn’t quite solid enough. I think that section really needs to be  assessed, as it will become a real problem if their forwards hit a deadlock and they are still unable to prevent their opponents from scoring. To be honest , I simply cannot understand why Tuchel  didn’t take Maguire, Luke Shaw and Trent to America .... If only those three players had been part of the World Cup squad , England might well have been a truly solid team

Because social media is abuzz with discussion, it's certainly fueling the perception that FIFA is trying to get away with things like this involving Messi.

Clearly, that was a serious foul. But strangely enough, the referee didn’t even give Messi a yellow card, let alone a red one. It’s no wonder this incident has sparked a lot of discussion on social media. Some have even accused FIFA of protecting Messi. If any other player had committed a foul like that, they would have definitely received a red card. But since it was Messi, the referee just ignored it.
