Can Chat GTP destroy poker on-line gambling???

Reading another post, it crossed my mind that AIs and particularly ChatGPT could potentially be trained with a large samples of games played by poker champions and then put it to auto-play with amateur on-line players. If this is successful, it could mean the end of human on-line poker playing except perhaps for the world masters and the like. Has anyone tried? Would it be possible??

I've never tried it and to be honest I'm not a poker player, so I can't understand exactly what can ultimately harm players if what you mention will actually be implemented in online poker games, but I remember what Elon Musk said about AI technology which is used on ChatGPT

So what he said was a warning that there would be drastic changes that could happen to human civilization, including online games. Maybe returning to the land base casino will be an alternative unless AI has also entered offline games.

I am not using ChatGPT too and I may not even try it even if someone suggested it to me.
The thing is, this is still a computer-based intelligence which means what he does will be a repeatable cycle only. It doesn't have its own decision-making when it comes to crucial moments. This is the other reason why they won't use AI as pilots for aircraft because once something goes wrong or a change does happen, it will just decide on what was input in it.
Online poker is still a skill-based game and there are instances where a deciding moment might happen. IMO, an AI will just always play it safe. If someone plays all-in it might even fold at a good hand.

That is a good point, I haven't really thought about the whole bluffing point and how the AI would approach it. In general ChatGPT or AI in general can give advantages to any player as they will show us the optimal gameplay. The problem is that players are not playing optimal, and if all the other players at the table are not following the optimal strategy than we might be losing if we follow the optimal strategy blindly. I remember a poker interview with some professionals that said they are actually struggling more when playing against beginners than when playing against regulars. In case they face players who have a decent strategy it's much easier to take advantage of them, and when a player makes a lot of random decisions it's much harder to win. ChatGPT would probably face similar problems to a certain extent and would need time to adjust his strategy. How long would it take for the AI to realise they are getting bluffed too often? And will the strategy immediately change again? Because then the players could try and exploit that.

For coding or any related concern in programming or even school related tasks, AI can be of great help. As far as I understand how it works, Chatgpt (according to the given video) chatgpt uses the probability approach depending on the open card and the cards in your hand.  I can say it is not that much reliable because of the possibility and error which is given on what cards the other player holds.  In the example, chatgpt analyzed the cards and give options of advice and does not directly tell the person what to do.  So the player have to choose on the given option and the strong point here is that Chatgpt is susceptible to bluff since it can read bluff as strong approach and may give the user and option to fold or may give option for player to call when a strong hand bluffed as weak hand.

So with the given scenario and example on the video, I do not think ChatGPT can destroy poker online gambling.

It has already been done and that poker AI is better than humans, however such a thing is probably not available for purchase for those which may like to use it to beat their opponents online, however someone with enough knowledge about poker and AI could create their own AI dedicated to poker, and while it is unlikely it will be as good as the AI which can beat poker champions, it does not really need to, since as long as it could beat relatively good players it could be enough for someone to make money with such project.

I have no ideas about Chat GPT impact directly, but I do know that many AI technologies are being used to analyze vast amounts of data and improve decision-making processes. In theory, this could provide an advantage in online poker.

I am in agreement that when they train with the plays of the poker masters they can play very well, and if so they can apply it to all the games, like 21 and dice, all that can occur to them, this is something what may be happening and they can already apply it, and some poker tournaments we may be facing the AI, this is somewhat frustrating because I have done some poker courses, I have no experience and if one faces an AI without knowing it, It is something that is not fair, but how does a platform realize that it is an AI and not a human? if they are so similar.

But for now, human poker players still have the advantage over AI.
It still doesn't know a lot of human expressions, and besides, how can they have facial expressions to begin with?
But for sure AI developers will try their hands on on every game to see how they can deploy AI to gain lots of money.
And also, AI will only be for online games. They won't be in the face-to-face tournaments. So there's no worry for poker players out there.

Chatgpt isn't just a text generator.  It usually analyze the content and the question in it.  It gives answers according to the data input that has connection to the given topic.  Like for example, if we ask about gambling and wanted to see list of chance-based gambling games, the program will analyze the question and give answer according to the identified question.  Same goes on how it give advise while playing online poker.  As the player give the situation and cards on play,  ChatGTP will analyze the situation according to the given scenario and generates possible best choices and the possible out put of these choices.

Obviously asking for impossible will lead you to have a null answer since I am sure Chatgpt will answer you that he is incapable of guessing your opponents hand.    I somehow thinks Chatgpt can increase the possibility of winning due to its advices and options of choices  but I do not think that Chatgpt can destroy poker online due to the limited function of Chatgpt like not knowing precisely the next event.

For ChatGPT, Yes because it's a chatbot but it doesn't mean that systems are safe with in the use of AI. I'm pretty sure that in the future, Someone will develop an AI for primarily to beat out casino games. AI development today is hyper fast and no wonder if there's a developer that is trying to be rich in developing an gambling focused AI. I don't know what is the the connection of quantum computers, If we are talking about AI, A high spec computer can run an AI and it's computation I believe, there's no need for something like quantum computers.

I haven't used ChatGPT myself and don't know how it could be used in a gambling setup.

The way gambler use Chatgpt is simply asking for an advice for a probable steps that will increase the chance of winnings or decrease the losses.

Don't you need some coding experience to make sure the AI does the right thing?

If you want an automated action according to the AI suggestion then yes but you can test it manually by asking a question on what to bet by giving your cards in hand and the cards on flops.

There are also thousands of TV footage over the years from big tournaments that could be used to feed the AI with data. One question would be what kind of computer do you need for the AI to analyse so much data. On my old machine this would probably take a lifetime. Maybe NASA can offer us some supercomputers to run the data. As long as the AI can read the life gameplay data it could give us some strategy on how to play.

I do not think you need to run a supercomputer to have a reasonable amount of time for the AI to respond.  Al just need is a huge chunk storage where data and information can be stored.  Processing information isn't that slow since most of the computers today are fast enough for data processing, you can see how interenet provides us with answers and links in seconds whenever we search something.

But as most of the big tournaments are being played offline, I don't see any risk of AI taking over here.  

There has been TV coverage of poker tournaments for more than 30 years, they have a lot of security in place so that people don't cheat. Even with the best strategy there is still randomness involved in poker, the AI doesn't know the exact cards of our opponents and therefore can't give us a 100% winning strategy. To a certain extent there will always be luck involved in poker.

I agree, AI cannot give us precise advice, I used chatgpt and asked AI what to move next, what it does is to tell whether my set of cards is strong or weak and advise accordingly.  It tells you to fold when the card in hand is relatively weak and increase bet size if it is strong.  ChatGPT also gives a situational possiblity of the opponent's card in hand according to the given flops.  Most of the decision is made by the player, ChatGPT only give possible situations and the strength of the card in hand.

However, I do think that there is a possibility that someone will eventually develop an AI specifically designed to beat casino games, which is a concern for the industry. As you mentioned, the development of AI technology is rapidly advancing, and there are already instances where AI has been used to beat human players in games like chess and Go.

Someone posted a link for free ChatGPT in forum so I had some time to experiment and talk with ''him'' and I am not impressed with answers I was getting.
If this conversation was taking place in forum I would most likely report this user for plagiarism, he is just copy-pasting bunch of stuff all the time.
Not just that, he is often very controversial and I proved many times that is is talking nonsense most of the time, so I am sure ''he'' could not play a poker with real people.
However, there is danger in AI development because they can be controlled and instructed by (malicious) people to do bad things, and poker should last of your worries.
