There might be other things that are extremely interesting, but maybe they are not valued by society. That's possible.

Of course, because they will do anything for pleasure and personal satisfaction, they don't care about the people who have been robbed because certain conditions caused by chronic gambling addiction really affect their thought patterns and feelings to become more uncontrollable.
There are quite lot of cases where gambling addicts have lost their source of income so what they do to make money is only criminal means.
This is very unfortunate incident and the worst thing is that the consequences can make everyone mindset and perspective towards gambling addicts much worse, they will think that gambling addicts are criminals.

This is the first time I have heard of brain surgery to change person thinking pattern, basically person thinking pattern will be related to suggestions and behavior.

my success definition doesn't have a lot to do with money, money is inside the equation but I put success way more related to free time, being able to choose what to do with your time and the people you want to spend time with

many gambling addicts have lost their minds because their desire to continue gambling overpowers their common sense, hence the importance of "gambling responsibly"

IMO this man's case Is different and I won't blame any addiction for such low thinking, how would he kidnap his own granddaughter to get ransome to gamble that's the most absurd ive heard of.

Addiction can most times push people to the lowest of character and often make them do the most insane things especially when they let the addiction do the thinking for them. I usually thought drug addiction was the worst but now I know all addiction are the same.

I think overall it will do no good to poor people. With those who cannot stop gambling in my opinion it is because they want to satisfy their curiosity, so that even though they experience losses they still continue to gamble to be able to get a win, instead of wanting to get a win but it only makes them even more miserable by wanting to chase losses that should not be done but they still do this dangerous action. even when they run out of money to gamble they can do things that should not be, such as stealing other people's money to return to gambling.

It is interrelated in my opinion, those who are crazy because of gambling are indeed the goal is victory or even they think they can succeed by just gambling so they gamble inappropriately because it is the wrong thinking that leads them to big losses. So you are implying you were able to quit gambling by your own and also by trading advices from people of this forum? If that is the case, I must say it gives me the impression you actually were not that much trapped within addiction, you were fortunate, though.
I have that impression, since I have read many times about very unhinged gambling addicted people who were so blinded by gambling, to the point they were willing to commit crimes, deceive their own family and even steal from their friends, all of it for the sake of having another chance and try to get their money back.

It's mental disorder to inflict pain on other people for the sake of gambling. Players with such level of addiction deserve the brain surgery mentioned above.
