Bayern have no problems in the Bundesliga and, on the contrary, they lack strong opponents to train with, so I expect Bayern to play at full strength and therefore most likely to beat United. Moreover, the game could end with a score of 3-5 or something like that (if United is able to resist), but I think that Bayern will win. You are bringing up Martial, but he scored 56 goals in 175 appearances, that is why I think he is not the worst transfer they ever made. But you are right that they made several transfers which were absolute garbage with respect to the return on investment and sometimes they didn't get a real chance to play at all. Mason Mount or Sancho also having infinite trouble with ten Hag.

I think they won't be holding back when there is a possibility to sign a good player, but what will it be good for? They need someone who understands how to bring in new players and make the team stronger. If they don't have someone who understands that, new players are not the solution to a different problem.

No matter how much we talk about Manchester United, nothing will change; the only thing that can make a difference is to remove the coach. Erik ten Hag is not a good coach for Manchester United; he has ruined the team's performance, which was excellent prior to his arrival. I first learned that the man would be Manchester United's problem during Ronaldo's season there.  United's advancement in the UCL is on a lot of probable cases and the odds are very much low. It's either they advance, or relegate to the UEL, or get disqualified from the contest. Which ever one that happens will be as a result of their performance in the tournament. Currently they're not able to be a threat, assuming they advance, they may not be able to battle it through narrowly as they did in the group stages, fierce competitions will arise and they may still eventually get disqualified at the round of 16 stage.

 If relegated to the UEL, I still don't have much confidence in them to scale through to grab the trophy because teams in that section too are going to be competitive. Currently they do not have the ability to withstand weighty challenge. Their performance currently isn't encouraging and doesn't speak well for them. The full team has a lot of work to do. No one expects them to do better currently as they've not been able to prove their worthiness too.
