Thinking about not gambling when you don't have enough money is indeed mindset that might make someone stop temporarily and reduce the intensity of their gambling, but for some people with certain conditions this will be difficult to do.

gambling to some is just means of entertainment and for fun only, but we still have some set of people who sees gambling as mean of earnig money and this are those who come into gambling just to fine means of escaping their financial issues and settling up bills, but in the end, gambling is a high risk thing so they end up alwys getting disappointed and exusted at times.
For me gambling is just for the fun and why i dont gamble every day, i only gamble when i have the chance and most times I rather enjoy watching those playing instead of staking on any of the games.

The gambling motives of the rich and the poor are the same in my opinion but there is a difference in their wining amount expectation. A poor gambler's demand range is naturally small, but a rich person's demand range can be large since the rich person can afford to bet more. It's a vice-versa kind of thing. We have some rich folks who have never gambled and we have the poor either in this category while we also have the rich who gamble often and we also have the poor who do the same.

Anyone could be a victim of all this you said, including the rich business man. The only difference between these people is that one person depends solely on the money he earns through gambling and gets emotionally driven if he's lost money while gambling. Because they have other businesses to focus on they wouldn't gamble every day, they'll be occupied and have other activities to execute instead of gambling. Dont know on where you do get that percentage but i do agree into the sense that majority of gamblers are to those people who are really that hoping for some big wins on which it would really be just that normal that they would really be having those kind of hopes on which they could really be able to hit some nasty wins or even that jackpot.  Having no sufficient money on which this is the main reason on why you do play? Of course there are still quite a lot of things that we don't know for sure about what exactly is the purpose of rich people engaging in gambling, some people choose one of fun or winning and some others combine the two into one which takes both aspects above.
