A family member reported to me that her eighteen years old son has started gambling. She is not worried that he is gaming but her problem is that he is a student that solely depends on her for everything he needs. Her fear is also that her son might start stealing from her if he has no access to the money he needs to gamble. My relative has even started suspecting that some money she feels was misplaced might have been stolen by her son.

I spoke to my nephew and he told me that he has never stolen from his mother to gamble. And he gambles with only his savings from his weekly stipend he receives from the family. And he won't gamble if he has no savings to do that. From my observation, he is a responsible gambler that is just enjoying the game and making a little money occasionally. The gambling age in my country is 18+, but his mother is insisting that he must stop. What will be your advice for this young boy?
Indeed, his mother had a good point in preventing him from gambling, as it can develop into a major addiction with unfavorable effects, especially while he was young. What if he started gambling gradually and eventually developed a fondness for it, even though he acknowledged that he only uses the money he gets from his allowance? We can never be sure what his future holds. Teenagers are skilled at dishonesty and can even fabricate stories to manipulate their parents in order to achieve what they want, so there is a chance that he may play fools on her. Not all, but some do, particularly if they are persuaded by their friends. He would think that it would be beneficial for him to try again if he has experience playing and starts winning and making money, but if he loses, he has a tendency to chase losses. Perhaps he can't focus on his education because of his gambling obsession; his mother's efforts to guarantee his future are in vain, and he spends his time gambling.

You should always seek professional help , that's my First piece of advice.

If her son's addiction to gambling is severe enough for him to rob his mother or perhaps hurt her, then it would be best for him to consult a specialist. She might help her kid comprehend the root causes of his addiction and create a better coping mechanism by getting plenty of treatment or perhaps medication if she seeks professional assistance. Then, his conscience will awaken, and he will realize that, rather than wasting his time gambling, he should be doing his studies at this young age.

However, there are drawbacks as well, because hiring professionals to assist you might be costly. That's the reason we should think about the monetary consequences and look into the resources that are out there, like insurance or affordable counseling.
It takes time and dedication, in my opinion, to overcome addiction. Her son's daily routine and his academic schedule can be affected if he needs to attend several therapy sessions each week. One thing is for sure: the course of treatment may not be successful if her son is not prepared for change or is resistant to it.

Gambling is not bad if one is committed to being responsible. Maybe for him gambling is like entertainment that can entertain him while his friends his age spend time watching movies or going on dates with their girlfriends. Moreover, if he is prohibited from gambling, I think he certainly has the potential to do so without his parents knowing. Moreover, if he has run out of money, it is possible that he will steal his mother's money to play. In this case, in my opinion, it is better to talk openly with each other to respect what the child likes, so that what he does can be controlled by the supervision of his parents too.
As long as people can use gambling responsibly, they will not experience any problems. But most people will forget their responsibilities when playing gambling, so we still often see many people who experience large losses. They can do other things, as you mentioned, but it depends on their wishes because if they want to return to gambling even though they already have other activities, they will still return to gambling. If he steals his mother's money to gamble, it indicates that he has started to experience a gambling addiction that he is not aware of and this must be addressed immediately before things get even worse. Parents must always approach their children, especially their teenage children because they are vulnerable to a great sense of curiosity, which can cause them to take the wrong path.

The nephew is honest when he says he is gambling with his funds and not stealing from his family. Family members should talk to each other about gaming and help each other find good things to do. You can deal with the problem in a more fair and well-informed way if you keep an eye on academic progress and get professional help if you need to.
That's a quite different way to see it but I like that idea. Problems that can be solved with wisdom shouldn't be solved with power and force. You can't force a child to obey you or do certain things they don't want to do or vice versa, and even if they do that by force, they will keep this in mind and will do those things deliberately in your absence. That's why, such sensitive issues should be handled with care because it takes one mistake to spoil everything, especially in matters where children are involved.

So, you're right that one should try and talk it out if the guy who is gambling isn't hiding it or doing anything wrong so that they can get money to feed their gambling activities but they are admitting it and such honesty should be appreciated and he should be schooled properly so that he understands that gambling can be bad for him.
I agree if proper advice about gambling and its downsides are given from the beginning then such mistakes can be avoided. And it is totally up to the gambler to try and if he doesn't think about his bad side then the family members also fail many times. Gambling helps to calm down after a long day don't approach the gambling scene like it's serious business. It will just put it on edge and make it hard to calm down and play the game. For this proper planning should be done which will help to succeed.

     -   I think your nephew has a broad understanding of what he is doing in gambling, despite the fact that he is only a student at the moment. So, I can consider your nephew, who is otherwise a responsible gambler,.

Then just trust what he said and hold that he can manage what he is doing correctly; in fact, he has already started, and it looks like he is mature in that regard. Although here in our country, many minors experience gambling, I just don't know if they can do it online as well.

Playing occasional Arcade games or some shooting or dice in a local fair is not a big issue. But young people should be kept away from professional gambling setup.
People may argue that gambling is just another form of entertainment but gambling is much different than watching a movie, in that, gambling can be really addictive and has a significant financial effect, a sudden loss or a sudden gain. A person who is dependent on others should not gamble. Gambling should be done by one's own earning only as they would be effectively managing their own money be it in a good way or bad. When it's not their money people could be playing more recklessly that may become a habit for long term if unchecked.

I agree with his mother that he should stop gambling, because the obvious reason is that he doesn't have an income so it's not natural for him to use the money his family gives him for gambling capital, apart from that, in my opinion, his actions have gone too far because in one step he will become an addict. The concept of gambling is that he will make money any way he can, whether stealing or other things, just to gamble

Speaking about gambling been used to calm down after a long day has got some exceptions and it will be better and much clearer If we talk about such exceptions because if you continue with only the fact that it can be use to calm down after a long day, some persons may mistaken this and wrongly apply gambling thereby putting them at risk of addiction when trying to calm down.

If you are gambling mainly for fun then this could be considered very much applicable but then it doesn't have to be done everyday, you can't say you want to cool off everyday by using gambling as the means to doing that, you will most likely end up addicted because you will get to used to cooling off in such manner that you crave it every day even when you not having a long day so it mostly effective if used occasionally but if you are gambling for the purpose of making money off gambling then this literally doesn't apply to you because you can find fun or pleasure in a venture that takes your money often when you are in the bid to making more money.

The gambler who play the game will like to share their opinion, the forum give us chance to share our opinion and help us to understand the new gamblers. The gamblers who can’t control their way of approaching in the drugs, the better way to quit the game at the beginning stage of the gambling.Because quit the gambling after the huge game was not the easy one, because the gamblers get the attitude of playing the game again and again whenever he receives money from the income sources. The gamblers who use to play like this without the good strategies will force to lose their money in the gambling site at the last.

First thing first, before you begin to gamble, you need to first choose wether or not that you be a responsible gambler or becoming a problematic gambler, the choice is then left for you to make and come out with you reality at some point in time, because for sure it becomes very easy to spot when you have not set out a guide or rule to follow and at that point you already choosen that be a problematic gamblers.

But if you have a well planned rules and regulations and guidelines that guide your conducts on the casinos, it will be hard before you behave in a strange ways that outsiders will even notice that you gamble.

Who would even want to be a problematic gambler? Before someone enters gambling, they don't really decide whether or not to be a responsible or problematic gambler. It just comes out of them during the process. Once you are already gambling, the circumstances will tell and show what really lind of person you are, and what are your principles and characteristics. Along the way, gambling will show your true colors. Your attitude will be manifested the moment you are already in it, not before. So it's essential to have a self-reflection whether you can withstand the challenges that you may face. And when the time comes, what can you do and what will your approach be once you face a difficult situation such as temptation to prolong gambling routine because it's satisfying and entertaining.

You can sometimes break rules even if you don't mean to especially if you don't have the character that is built against enticing offers. So what you should really look forward into molding is your attitude, character, behavior, and discipline.

But if you have a well planned rules and regulations and guidelines that guide your conducts on the casinos, it will be hard before you behave in a strange ways that outsiders will even notice that you gamble.
For those who are new to gambling, they will not think about things like choosing to be a responsible gambler or a problem gambler. They are just curious about the gambling game and want to experience it. But after they experience it and get the results, be it losing or winning, they gamble more often and in the end, many of them become problem gamblers. But if at first, they know that there is something they have to learn and they see suggestions from many people about becoming a responsible gambler, they will try to learn how to become a responsible gambler.

This will be the choice of people who come to gambling, especially those who are new. Meanwhile, those who frequently gamble should think about becoming responsible gamblers. But that's not what happens because more and more people become problem gamblers until finally, many people become addicted to gambling.

Exactly, a lot of the replies are tolerating the kid just because he's almost an adult now when that's not really the case here, that money that the kid says was his is just the allowance that the kid didn't spend for the intended purposes, it's not the same thing as having his own money, with your own money to be considered your own, you need to be able to provide evidence that you've worked hard to earn that money by appropriate means.

Well, I think that when a person is looking for a way to do things well, they have to adapt to the things that are more common. If a child has an advanced addiction, I think that if he or she needs professional help, what will the cost be? Well , it is something that should be assumed, it is for a child, I think that the money should be sought in some way because it is something urgent that must be resolved, and he is a child, something like this should not be happening, a situation like that, it should be tied to adolescence and not be passed on to adults, since being a minor suffering from something is very serious, it should not be allowed, things should always go according to the things that are appropriate for your child age , and not get ahead of yourself to live something that you shouldn't, secondly, the age you are is because you are practicing a study or a sport, not because you are into those types of things that are for Adults because an addiction and a casino are not in normal parameters.

I would say that things are quite cruel when a child, or someone underage , suffers from this , because basically these things, if you look for fault, are entirely the parents', because the parents are the ones who should be Responsible for educatio n, of their children and yes, these things are totally the fault of the parents, then we must Quickly give them the attention required once and for all, because we are people who must always be aware of anything that happens to our children , that is what we have as a mission, a challenge so why do anything? Everything has to be done because things are much more important to them and different things have to be done so that they are well , the most Important thing is that their mental health does not degenerate, because sometimes children can have many problems , So your self-esteem must always remain very High , it is always the main thing.

Uncontrolled gambling addiction does really terrible things to people, and the most terrible thing is the so-called "depreciation of money." It all starts with the fact that the ludoman does not perceive money as something received for hard work.

For him, money becomes just numbers on the screen, and this is bad, because then his real life completely changes its priorities.

If he is a student and has no money other than depending on his parents then in my opinion the young man's actions are still wrong, what if one day he has no money and his pocket money runs out? And eventually asking his parents and using the money for gambling. Actually gambling is not wrong it's just that a student shouldn't do this activity before he is truly an adult and has his own finances and doesn't depend on his parents, so that as a child he doesn't add to the burden on his family as a result actions that ultimately hinder his future.

No thief admits they have stolen, but do you know if he has lied?? if parents realize that their money is decreasing every day, they should be suspicious of the loss of the money or it is better to keep the money in a safer safe or keep it in the bank so that their children cannot act recklessly or steal money just to gamble, because usually children during puberty can sometimes reckless to do whatever they want to do.

When a schoolchild is given money for lunch and he loses it in gambling, it sounds pretty bad. It’s bad if he loses all his money and doesn’t learn anything. On the other hand, if a student develops himself, uses his brains, comes up with strategies, risks a small part of what he is given, these expenses do not greatly affect his lunch, then I will say that this student is not stupid. Perhaps he will acquire some skills and knowledge about probabilities and risks at such a young age. In my opinion, this is really good, this most likely will not allow him to lose large sums on gambling in adulthood and not go to the bottom, because he will know the basics. The only thing I like here is that there are much fewer such savvy schoolchildren than those who don’t think about anything and don’t develop, but only dream of winning the jackpot and that’s it, it’s sad.

That's what his mother thought, so her mother wanted to discipline her child who stole so that he wouldn't repeat his actions. At a very young age, it would be a shame if he was involved in things like stealing money just to gamble, even though he should still be at school like his other friends, playing with his friends without thinking about stealing money and using it to play gambling. But that can happen if the environment is like that, meaning many adults also gamble, so he gets curious, and because he doesn't have money, he decides to steal. The child must be able to stop gambling and not have to think about making money from gambling because his current task is only to go to school well until he can finish it. Then, he can later find a decent job for him.

If the child's welfare is considered, I have no problem with him or her seeking professional help to overcome or manage their gambling addiction; if his parents can afford it, they are free to attend as many therapy sessions as they would like.

As always, parents have a significant influence on how their children behave, and it's important to understand that a variety of circumstances can contribute to addiction.
We can either favorably or negatively impact our children as parents. Positive contributions from us include guiding our kids, establishing limits, and keeping lines of communication open. In addition to teaching kids about the dangers of gambling, we have to instill values in them and provide a healthy family atmosphere.
However, some parents have negative effects on their child's life as well. If a child grows up with parents who are also gambling addicts or who engage in other vices, the child will undoubtedly emulate their parents' behavior.

But it's equally important, in my opinion, to recognize the important roles played by peer pressure, other external factors, and being susceptible to addiction. Because addiction-related behaviors can arise as a result of mental health disorders as well as social influences.
In essence, yeah, I agree that parental responsibility is one part of a larger equation.

We are in a era when children want to do what the adult are doing without even having the fear of what could be the consequences. Everyone want to gamble and make fast money including the underaged that are not meant to be gambling. We are in a society where everyone wants to have there own money without even thinking if they are going to get money in the right way. Gambling is becoming a usual things within school children and we don't have to watch seeing that happening without any caution. If we are okay then we can leave that to them let them continue but they are ought to stick with morals and the ethics that is guiding them in both schools and home.
