Euroleague isn't profitable? I think that you wanted to say something different.
I think he said what he wanted to say. Euroleague isn't profitable. Clubs only get 1 or 2 millions as rewards, when they have spend about 20 millions just to fight for playoffs. In BCL they won't earn more, but they will need to spend less money to achieve something.

The problem is, to play in the Euroleague you first have to fee to obtain the license. It's like 5 million for 3 years, that's crazy. At the end you only get like 500000$ from the marketing pool, if you are one of the smaller teams like ALBA, that's it. Of course you also have ticket sales for 18 games, but at the end it's totally not worth it for smaller teams without big pockets. Sure, you get some prestige and can mess with the best in Europe, but doing that in a financially suicidal way of course is bad business.
Euroleague is all about money, you can see that with all the Dubai nonsense and so on. Hopefully the NBA Europe project, which obviously also is just a cash grab, will show the EL they are not above everything.

Galatasaray defeated Tenerife 80-90 in the Fiba Champions League Final Four and advanced to the final.
Hats off to Huertas for still playing basketball at this level. He contributed to his team with 18 points but could not prevent the defeat.
Galatasaray awaits its opponent.
I think it will most likely be Malaga. In fact, the Malaga team is the favorite team for this cup.
The final is on Sunday at 20:00. I would like Galatasaray to win the cup but Malaga is better.

Next season we won't see Alba in Euroleague. After 24 years in Euroleague tournaments, now they join Champions league:
https://basketnews.com/news-224172-alba-berlin-leave-euroleague-basketball-after-24-years.html
Finally they will play in their level tournament. And also, they open extra place for one of teams that want to join EL.

So now, Olympiakos will play against Monaco and Fenerbache against Panathinaikos. At the moment, I "see" both Greek teams in the final.
Yeah, Greek final would be most logical outcome, but I would prefer different final. I would like to see either Fenerbahche or Monaco lifting trophy. Saras as a coach reached multiple Final 4 in a row, but didn't had much luck. On other side, all time Euroleague top scorer Mike James is still without Euroleague trophy. There is not many chances for him remaining, considering his age.
I think Alba Berlin is doing the right thing.

Because they were losing mostly because they didn't build a team at Euroleague level.
If they replace Alba with a better quality and stronger team, Euroleague will be a more enjoyable organization.
In the past, when CSK was there, Euroleague quality was better. I hope the wars will end and we will see Russian teams in these organizations again. Strong teams always increase quality.
I don't know if you agree, but the first 4-5 teams in Euroleague will be very successful in NBA.

Nah, maybe they can win games but they won't be very successful. You can see in NBA Europe games how big the gap still is. Sure it's become smaller the past 10-20 years but NBA teams are still on a different level. I doubt Olympiakos, Panathinaikos, Fenerbahce or Real would even make the playoffs. There is a reason why someone like Kendrick Nunn got no playing time in the NBA but in Europe he is the king. His level wasn't enough for the NBA.

Let's remember the Euroleague champions since 2000.

Panathinaikos' great success is remarkable. They are the team that has won the most championships with 5 championships.
If CSK had not been banned, maybe CSK could have won 5 or more championships.
I want Fenerbahçe to be the champion this year, but it is not easy. Panathinaikos scares me. Fenerbahçe in particular cannot handle the stress of such finals.
I hope they will be successful this year.

To start, Euroleague is an independent private company, and as such, it is very profitable. If you check their model, they are doing just great. Maybe the prize seems low compared with the total spending amount but you forget all the other incomes. Not to mention that the local leagues don't get even 1/10 of this amount and have another motive.
BCL belongs to FIBA, which is an entirely different organization, and I don't say that it's bad for a team to be there. Maybe for some, it would be better to play there and reconsider their growing model.

I agree with you. Euro teams don't have the quality players and the infrastructure to compete with NBA teams, and it's logical. More money, more fame, more games, more staff, more crowd, more everything. And don't forget. The dream of any kid who likes basketball is to play in the NBA, no matter the team.

Unicaja Malaga was too big for Galatasaray.
Galatasaray could only resist in the second period. Malaga was the side that started the match well.
In fact, Galatasaray's victory was shown as a surprise on betting sites.
Malaga was the more favorite and won 67-83 and became the FIBA Champions League champion.
The cup went to Spain.

Congrats to them and to Galata as well, which managed to make it to the final. Too bad that Ataman's prediction wasn't successful.

Ataman did not make a realistic prediction. He is trying to look good to the Turks because of what happened in the Panathinaikos match in Türkiye.
He is also a Galatasaray fan.
If he said that Malaga was the better team and that Malaga would probably win the cup, they would criticize him in Türkiye.
He also knows very well that Malaga is a better team than Galatasaray.

Yeah truly not the biggest of surprises, haha. Gala reaching the final against Tenerife was already an upset but they couldn't go back to back against the Spanish teams. Yet, they kept it close until the 4th quarter, which was more than I expected from them. Unicaja has a solid season, also in the ACB where they are in 4th place. Them winning the CL is of course a great win for them, it's never easy to win one of the European cups and then win the Champions league back to back, even harder. Maybe it's time for an upgrade for them?

Euroleague is a league as the name suggests. Why is there a Final Four for the team that will eventually become the champion? I can't make sense of it. Can't it be like football?

I'm saying this because I don't remember the team that finished the regular season as the leader and became the champion.
Isn't this unfair?
This is true not only for Euroleague but also for all national leagues. Am I wrong? Why isn't this the case?

As I said, my money is on Unicaja, though, I expected Spanish final. Back to back titles for Unicaja and dominance for Spanish teams in BCL continues. Happy to see Unicaja back to glory, after they lost place in Euroleague, they had difficult period. While Gala, despite loss in the final had greatseason, I think not many expected to see them there.

To start, Euroleague is an independent private company, and as such, it is very profitable. If you check their model, they are doing just great. I read article, it's good, some numbers written there looks nice, but lack of money in Euroelague have big negative impact. Especially now with new TV deal there is even more money in NBA. NBA bench warmers could get more money than Euroleague stars, young players are leaving Europe for NCAA as they will be paid there very well.
Euroleague want to have teams in France, Germany, but now TV deals there is so little, while there is much bigger deals in smaller markets like Israel, Serbia or Greece. Not everything is so great as it looks from first glance.

Playoffs no, but maybe play-in would be possible. But NBA and Euroleague is just too different to know how Euroleague teams would to there. These pre-season games isn't indicator. With NBArules European teams wouldn't stand a chance there in long term, playing with FIBA rules would make them some advantage. What makes biggest difference there is defensive 3 seconds rule.

By the way Šarūnas Jasikevičius has already been voted to be the Euroleague Coach of the Year in this season. I'm proud of our coach about it. Smiley He has done a pretty good job with the roster he has in his hands.

To be honest I wasn't expecting us to be this solid in regular season. I was thinking there were serious weaknesses in the roster. But now we are in Final Four. I hope we prepare well for the Panathinaikos duel in 10 days. It is a really tough one.

He has done a really good job this season and now its just a question if he can crown the season and will the euroleague. The problem here will be because its only one game and if its not your day you will be eliminated. It will be really close against Panathaniakos they are really good aswell

Congratulations to Jasikevicius; he managed his team well this season and led them to the Final Four under difficult circumstances. However, the odds are against him in any area. Pana are still the champions, they have Ataman as their coach, and they have the MVP of the season. Plus, a deeper roster with substantial chemistry between them and Lesor coming up hard. I don't want to disappoint you but I see it very hard for Fener to win this.

I was also happy that Sara was chosen, but it seemed to me that it was a bit rushed.
Sara was chosen, but what if Fenerbahçe doesn't become champion? If another team becomes champion, wouldn't the coach of the champion team deserve this award?
If it was for the regular season, Bartzokas should have won. Olympiakos finished the regular season as the leader.
How is this determined?

For me it's a bit strange that this reward is given at the end of regular season, not after Final 4. But if they're looking only at results of regular season, Saras deserved it. Yeah, Olympiacos won regular season, but Bartzokas had better roster on paper. I also would consider Thiago Splitter for this award, he done amazing job with Paris.

Well he is the best in the regular season and the rewards goes for that part. Whoever wins the euroleague on the f4 will get the best coach for that. MVP goes the same for the best player. Olympiacos is the best on paper and i think they might win the euroleague but it is hard because its only one game at a time

You're right. I hadn't thought about that. He made a great debut in Splitter. He made the limited Paris Basket roster play very good basketball.
Maybe he can work for bigger budget teams next year. Or if the Paris team builds a good roster, they can even take Paris to the Final Four.
He may not have had great success when he was playing basketball, but he can achieve great success as a coach.

Actually, it isn't so strange. As you mentioned correctly, the trophies of the regular season are based on the regular season alone. Plus that the Coach of the Year award (along with Best Defender and Rising Star awards) is given solely by the head coaches' votes. As for Splitter, I agree, but he didn't manage to bring Paris to the Final Four. If he manages it, then he could definitely take the award from Saras since Paris' budget was the 2nd lowest in the league.
