Without a doubt an addiction can have a huge effect on the person that afflicts and this can cause awful long term consequences for them, however I really believe people should be held accountable for their actions, because even if they cannot help themselves now that they are addicted, there was a period in which they were not and they still took a series of actions that lead them towards that path, and that is completely their fault.

This is true, and in most people, those who become addicted to gambling are a bit careless people. I don't want to call them stupid, they are often quite smart. And I feel sorry for such people, because unlike you and me, at one time they simply did not know that gambling was quite dangerous.

And I don’t feel sorry for the other type of people who live as if they’re wasting their lives and don’t feel sorry for anything. I know people like that.
They live one day at a time - their motto is “today I feel good, and I don’t care what happens tomorrow.” Such people deserve what happens to them, because life is a dangerous thing and cannot be taken lightly.
Those people lack the ability to think long term, so while I care about the now and how I can enjoy it as much as I can, at the same time I care a lot about what it may happen during the next decade, this is one of the reasons why I invest in bitcoin, since I can see the fiat system is unsustainable, and even if it were not to crash during my lifetime, there is no point for me to hold my small savings in fiat as I know that the more time it passes the less I can buy with it.

There are really people who are really like this way on which they do really believe that there are things that cant happen into them not until that it would happen and this is where they would really be
making those learnings and adjustments on which they could really have done it earlier on which this is something that could save up themselves into potential trouble.
Gambling should really be just that something that would be entertaining you and not something that brings out stress because once this one do brings out that stress
and that high chance of addiction then it would be better that you should be stopping right away and never intend to go forward.

This is a very strong bias that many people have, they believe that bad things happen to other people but not to them, so they take risks that are too high thinking that what they are doing is fine, and we see this all the time on the forum, with newbies which come to it to complain about how they lost all their money when they invested in an altcoin and used leverage, and they are completely surprised this was the case, while for us this not only does not surprises us and instead it was the most likely outcome.

the only people who can control themselves in gambling is people who have a job but on the process whereby you don't have a payable job I believe that there is no self control in gambling because what they will believe on is that they will make it through gambling and all their focus is to make it through gambling so I believe that it is one of the element that will make some people not to control themselves so therefore gambling can be controlled when you have your own physical cash and you are a weekly at the monthly earner that is when you can control gambling.

No psychologist can change an addict if the victim is not intrinsically devoted to getting cured. Addicts deserve to have slight controls, necessary to work alongside the therapist. If an addict makes no effort in helping himself get healed, there's necessarily nothing any therapist can do to change the gambler. I think what Op is doing looks like a first aid. His advice can get helpful along the line, then directing him to a hospital or a psychotherapist for adequate treatment. As you said these people are excellent in recuperating a person's brain. But they won't obtain any success if they barely have a valuable information about the victim.

Yes, too much of gambling is a lot of problem , you are putting yourself into danger. If you have the habit of dedicating all your life into gambling as an addiction it’s may affect you mentally affect your family. If you are married as a family man, it will cost you a lot of problems because you decide to lose, you may not be able to reach the target of your family. You may not even provide for your family anymore or your mind to win on the process of trying to win, losing all you have saved gradually gradually, to be addicted as a gambler also affect your heart because you’re thinking a lot It will also attract heart disease that may require you to see the cardiology because of Over scaring if you’ve been losing. Is advisable. Whenever you make a little profit you take out the Profit  you take some little percentage and decide to gamble again. It should be at least 2 to 5% of whatever you have me in general it’s not good to be addicted to gambling.

BIG WINNER!

You are one of the lucky people because you can control yourself when gambling so you don't gamble excessively so you don't get addicted. The cause of people experiencing addiction is caused by factors resulting from excessive gambling activities overall, as well as not being able to control themselves over gambling and their finances.
And for the problem of gambling addiction, we have to look at the level of addiction, if it is acute, perhaps professional help or rehabilitation and support from those closest to you, especially partners and family, play a very important role. However, addicts must also have a strong determination to stop and go through this process consistently, and only people who meet the requirements are able to overcome this in order to recover from their addiction because other people only help and support according to their abilities.

Yeah, professional help or family help. Maybe a friend's help doesn't work for him because they will think it's all just a joke. Someone serious enough to tell the gambling addict that he is crossing the line will be the key to controlling this problem.
There are lines being provided whenever a gambling platform is being advertised on television, especially on sports games after the commercial.
Gambling ain't a controllable addiction, I can tell because I almost get sucked into it. I just think about my family and how irresponsible I will be if I continue it. It can be stopped but it needs a strong mental telling yourself that you have become an irresponsible gambler. At an early stage, yes you can control it but once you get deep with either chasing your losses or getting greedy because of the profits you are making, that's when a blackhole opens that would keep you playing until you cannot even do work or have enough time with your family because your eyes are glued to gambling.

What will be your suggestion for my friend to recover from the gambling addiction.
Your friend is not only trying to recover from his losses but also still really enjoys every gamble he takes even though he has lost a lot, that's what I think.
My advice is to take him to a professional to start undergoing treatment for his addiction because advice will not open up his awareness that his condition will get worse, especially financially and very likely followed by other things such as his mental health because he only focuses on gambling, and you can also ask his family for help to persuaded him to take treatment so he could recover from his addiction.

I think gambling is a controllable addiction because I can control myself, but some people cannot control themselves, like in the example you gave. Your friend seems to be a hopeless case. I don't think the advice you are giving him will have a positive outcome. If I were you, I would try to get professional help after doing everything I could. Professional health organizations that fight against addictions can help you. Specialized psychiatrists or psychologists will surely help your friend. They spend their lives helping people like your friend. We should always trust professionals and science.
As far as the person is addicted then it will be difficult for the person to be able to control their self since it has become part of their life they will always want to gamble even if they do not have money they are always ready to source money to give their self that satisfaction that they get from gambling. they don't give value to either if they lose or not but at the end of the day they will still lose. I don't think some gamblers will listen to advice they don't care what happens all they care about is that potential when forgetting that the potential win is just numbers and if you lose the money used to gamble the potential is gone. and will they want help but if they get help it will be good for them. even when you get engaged working will also help in taking your mind away from gambling.

I had a friend in the gambling circle,he was gambler addicted person over a year.I had advised him many times, but he is not ready to accept my advice in the gambling.Apart from gambling,my friend accept my advice without any hesitation. When I had a time on weekend,I get a chance to meet him in personal.I had some question about his gambling addiction, but the sad part is he is not accepted his gambling addiction towards the gambling site.

He said that he had nearly 64k dollars as a loss in the gambling site.In order to recover that 64k dollars,he keeps on betting from all his economic resources.I had advice him to use only 20 percentage of salary to get away from entire gambling loss. But he is now repeating the same 100 percentage of income from weekly, biweekly and monthly. So he was in the big loan problem.Still he is arranging funds from loan to play gambling, because he think that the recovery was possible at the place where he lost his money. What will be your suggestion for my friend to recover from the gambling addiction.
I was subjected to a situation where my friend used to spend a large part of his income and sometimes used all his monthly earnings on gambling and at one point he even managed gambling with borrowed money. The result of his long gambling was that he was in debt. Despite my repeated advice to him, he has avoided gambling related talk. He was about $4,000 in debt. When I asked him to stop, he continued to gamble and try to pay off his debts. He feels that it is difficult for him to pay this huge amount in any other way except gambling. Because of which he is still gambling. He sometimes gets big money from gambling but can't keep it. His greed was excessive and he lost again in the next bet.

That's why we must control our gambling activity so we don't have the problems because once we lose control, we will put ourselves in a bad situations that we can't imagine before. If we feel that we becomes too often playing gambling, we must reduce before what we did in gambling gives many problems to us. When we have family, we must thinks about how to use the money for our family needs and not just for playing gambling so we must makes allocation for all needs. We don't have to gives money in a big portion to gambling activity because we must fills our family needs so we can balance our needs and gambling activity. Filling our needs is the important things than just allocating some money to the gambling activity because gambling is just a fun activity that doesn't needs to be used too often. If we can balance our lives good, we will have a chance to enjoy gambling for having fun and not have a purpose to win the money because we will thinks that will difficult.

This is very correct, you could also try making him practice a sport, something that can make him tired, it is not necessarily a sport that is difficult to practice or do, it could be a sport like athletics, like going to the Gym, the idea It is that the person wakes up a little from that desire to play in the casino, because when he gets married, he will not have much desire or strength to play in the casino, because he will basically be tired, but it has to be a sport that he is passionate about, or Let them see that it is something they might like a lot, I think that can be attacked with entertainment, let them be a person who says they have to take care of their health with sports, sometimes that can be a great option to enter. .

So given these things, we can say that professional help is the best, a psychologist, psychiatrist, clinic, but this involves money, from what I have seen in Europe and northern countries this type of care is very expensive, so a The solution could be that of sports, and also economical and would do very good for your health.

There are people who drown their sorrows by running, practicing athletics, because I know some who have gone through situations not of addiction, but of very strong things and to get rid of all that pain they practice athletics every day, others ride a bicycle and enter that world of where it is much healthier.

I recommend your friend t seek professional help. You can also encourage him to seek therapy or counseling and join support groups. He is stuck on the cycle of trying to recover his losses by betting even more. He should set limits and find healthier ways to cope with stress. Recovering from gambling addiction requires commitment and perseverance, so important to let him know that he is not alone, that there are people who care for him and want to see him recover and overcome his addiction.

Gambling addiction is chronic, and its healing process consumes time. Nobody undergoes this process with no long-lasting trauma. Unless the bond between the addict and his friend isn't strong, they can forgo the painful thoughts of the healing process. Therapists due to work and one rule that states, "remember you are not the cause of the player's trouble" don't stress themselves thinking about the pains of the addict, added to it, the therapists don't spend lots of time with the addict. Unlike a loved one who worries over the wellbeing of a friend, and may spend nights and days with him, he'd undergo lots of depression during the period. For the rule stated above, it's not right that a friend suffers pain or gets affected by a gambler's addiction. The healer is free and wasn't the cause of the trouble. Although we are humans, and lots of our thoughts are reflexive, we'll find ourselves getting worried over it.

That's why referring him to a therapist is a superb idea. Because the pains don't register in the therapist's brain, he's the right candidate for handling the healing process. However, not everyone is capable of paying for a session, an alternative method plays a vital role. This is the idea you wrote above, letting him remember that he's loved. Telling him he's wrong may not work, hence trying to teach him his game is not effective. Concealing our intentions works best, working alongside him to guide him will build an interpersonal relationship between the gambler and his friend, to a point where the addict, depends on his friend for advice and gambling techniques. The goal is to let the addict lead the process, then hijack his thoughts or strategies and replace them with ours, as a friend.

From the first post I got that someone is continually place bets to play back his lost money. Can this really be called as gambling addiction, or that person is only trying to get back what he has lost. I think this is two different things. Addiction is when you gamble all the time and cant held yourself from gambling. But we dont know what will that person, mentioned in first post, will do if he wins his $64k back. What if he would just stop gambling? Then we were wrong about his addiction.

Knowing how to control yourself when it comes to gambling is a result of not being addicted, and the case is that because of addiction, the victim (his friend) is already at the bad stage of addiction and has all hope of winning back the money he lost, which is the main reason why he feels any money put to recover that high loss is not bad, so presently, I will say his friend is at a critical stage of risk that he will even risk everything he had in this word just for gambling. The advice he is giving to his friend is all nice advice, but the main point to consider here is that this friend won’t accept any advice from him, as long as it is based on gambling.

So OP, as the victim friend, has a small chance to help him, and one of them is what you mentioned, like by booking a time for the victim (his friend) and a counsellor, or by involving a female (a girl) in the process, because most especially men that got addicted to something tend to listen to the advice of females. When I say female, I mean lovers. In general, people who find themselves in such critical addiction tend to listen to the advice of their loved ones a lot, so if the victim has a wife, girlfriend, or daughter, they are the ones to whom he might listen to their advice due to the love he has for them.

but usually addicts think that what they are doing is right and they don't believe what anyone else says other than themselves. usually they will refuse various forms of help, even from professionals, which makes it very difficult to treat gambling addicts. so the initial approach that can be taken to treat the addict is to approach him with empathy and understand what he is feeling. then, after a while of this approach being carried out, professional help is brought in to be able to provide emotional assistance to the addict and at the same time to help him get out of his addiction.

Your friend is chasing losses in the bid to get recovery and it's actually such a bad practice because it wouldn't help him get the recovery he's desire actually so it will be best if he apply some restrain or possibly quit gambling I'm the main time and get his hand on his job and make sure he's not going to pay up his loans using his salary and if he starts in bit, gradually he will be able to offset his loan but in the mean time he's yet to come to that realization that revenge gambling will only cause you more losses and not wins so it's much better if you allow yourself to not revenge but rather gradually get to recover from the losses and not doing it hastely as that will result in further losses and increase the stress for recovery.

Such a person can aswell seek professional help so they can be able to get guide that will actually help them through quiting such addiction because personally they may not be able to do it all alone, they may possibly go back to it even when they try to quit if they are not professionally guided. The only solution for your friend at this point is quitting els he may even loose much more if he continues because he's not in the best mindset.
