Imho beginner will either get a light form of addiction, which is probably just an excitiment for something new in his life and easy way how to earn, but by the time he gambles more and more, he will turn into matured gambler who will realize all the consequences of frequent gambling and will not get addicted in the end. Or he will not get hooked by gambling at all and not even get a light form of addiction.

Imho it is enough to give few tips about addiction in the beginning, and if person is not stupid, he will make conclusions out of that.

Yes it might work, but I think it's unlikely because after all we can never rule out the many temptations that exist in gambling which are mostly and overall always the initial trigger for gamblers to feel curious until in the end they try again and yes return to the situation of regret. In fact, they already know that most likely the results at the end of the session will definitely be the same as before, namely losing but this is only easy to say and difficult to do, none other than because the temptation in gambling does look very tempting and difficult to miss.

The biggest temptation for gamblers is indeed their own greed. they will never be enough with what they have gained, or do not dare to accept defeat.

since I use online gambling, usually handle this kind of thing by looking away for a moment. because if I focus too much, of course I will keep playing. When I look away from the gambling screen, I still have time to think more positively.

Truly, we cannot rush things if we want change but when it comes to addiction, in my experience the best way is to stop in a snap. I did it with my smoking habit. I can finish 10 sticks of cigarettes per day and when I drink alcohol I can finish a pack. One day my brain just keeps on thinking about my kids and I don't want them to smell the secondhand smoke in me. They are also getting sick many times so I stopped. It had been 5 years since my last smoke.
But I think it will be different when it comes to gambling. Some do prefer they can still play in the times when they are bored and I think that's fine as long as we know our limits. Sports betting might be the best way to control gambling habits because you don't have to be in front of the computer the whole day.

I agree with @madnessteat that saying novice must spend a lot of time and effort to have self control because that thing can prevents or avoids novice from the risks of playing gambling. Playing gambling gives risks to all people, including novice but the risks will be bigger for the novice because they will lack of all needed to enjoy the gambling. If novice can learn many things that's needed while playing gambling, they will not have to lose much money and they will also knows when they must stops playing gambling. They will not becomes addicted to gambling because they can avoids that before happens to them. But unfortunately, not many novice realizes this and many of them gets deeper in gambling without seeing that they have a problems that needs to solve.

Obviously, you are right ,I kind of agree with you very much with how you control your habit towards gambling, In general self control is something we shouldn't take for granted in all we do, this way you won't do things that will push towards addiction, Therefore, for newbies to avoid being addicted to gambling they must avoid couple of things like, greed and avoiding risking way much than what they can lose, because risking too much triggers people to start chasing loses when they lose money and this further graduates them into spending much time than what they should spend gambling, and Addiction now becomes the resultant effect.

Yes, educating newbie gamblers is the right option, but the challenging aspect of it is that not all new gamblers are exposed to learning or close to an expert who would guide them on ways to be responsible. I only wonder why they get to learn about chasing loss but fail to see or hear from anybody about gambling responsibly. Despite being written boldly on the casino. I totally agree with your explanation, @panjul07. I find it strange for someone to think that addiction can be escaped when one is able to know the math behind winning and losing. 

@murkyz, It's even possible to know the math behind game odds and still lose your bets mercilessly. Most of the time, some people argue that blackjack is a game which requires a good skill of the gamblers as to make more wins, so people suggest that blackjack gives a 50% chance of winning. If you look at it closely, 50% is not even a great chance of winning because the game is still based on a 50/50 chance to lose and a 50% chance to win, so anytime the luck comes to the gamblers, that's when he or she will win the game. 

Addiction starts in the mind, when a gambler has a misconception about gambling, believing that he or she can make money through gambling or that he or she can win jackpots and make an abrupt amount of money over night, which can make them a millionaire overnight. People know that the chances of winning are very small, but the fact that they see news on TV and in the newspapers saying that someone bought a ticket for $1 and won 5 million dollars makes many people decide to also buy lottery tickets. . in casinos and the same thing, people hear on TV, newspapers and on the internet talking about someone playing in a casino and leaving the casino very rich, people don't even want to hear about failure stories, as soon as they look at some news talking about someone lost a lot of money gambling, people stop reading and don't finish reading and immediately forget this type of news.

That is a very big challenge especially for individuals that live in rural areas where they're not exposed to experts that could guide them on how to gamble responsibly. Not all individuals are exposed to the Internet or have devices where they could get information, they do go to the betting shops to carry out their  gambling activities. Well I think the management of those gambling shops are in the right position to create awareness and help guide such individuals to gamble responsible.

In my ten years' long gambling adventures, the main thing that keeps me from falling into addiction is that I always remember the possibility of it. I would suggest to the beginners in the world of gambling to never forget about this possibility and keep checking periodically whether they are not there.

You are right, as long as you gamble with full awareness when doing so, I think you will avoid addiction. Because only we ourselves know or recognize our gambling situation and everything will be related to awareness so as not to get carried away by the atmosphere of the game and being able to control ourselves when there are signs of excessive gambling activity. Beginners will be eager to gamble even though at the beginning it is for fun or you say it is trying something new but believe me the more often you gamble this will be addictive no matter how much money you lose in essence gambling is prone to addiction.

I feel how it used to be as a beginner who gambled with the intention of not playing in a row when losing, but curiosity and lust are what makes it easier for us to deposit again.

Greediness is famous amongst gamblers due to the losses they have incurred. Satisfaction is not guaranteed in money. Nobody who has lost money in gambling wouldn't want to win some more. Trust me, most newbie players think gambling has no procedural process for staying mentally sound or stable in the game. No one has ever told them about this. Not until I read a book authored by a gambling expert, I never thought about safety in gambling. Similarly lots of gamblers are not connected to the right source of gambling information.

Well said, but to be more precise and accurate, it is best for gamblers to keep it in their minds that they must have a very quality disposition towards gambling. They must be refined gamblers with the mindset that gambling is not a do-or-die affair, and that it is never the avenue to make money, so it is not a place where desperation should be allowed to thrive. If these minds can be observed, then it will be lovely for the gamblers to forge ahead in their gambling quests. I think that the biggest problem at the beginning of addiction is lack of money, every addict will always need money and that is what produces the different problems, when a person has enough money, like millionaires, they play until they get bored, they don't even like it. It doesn't matter if they win or lose, for them it doesn't matter, you rarely see a millionaire enter a casino, that is almost unheard of, but people who are not millionaires do, and it is because of the lack of money, in this aspect we are people who almost always see things from the point of view that must be corrected quickly. If a person is already addicted, my advice will always be to seek professional help, which is normal, of course. The rest is at the discretion of the person.
