I checked UEFA rankings and Spain is 6th,  Croatia is 7th and Italy 8th place in the list, and they all improved from previous ranking places.

Option to pass from 3rd spot definitely takes away something from "death group". As you say, if Albania ends on 0 points all three of us should pass trough and anything can happen in knockout stages. Real tournament starts after the groups this time. I wonder is some teams with long bench (England, France) will rotate a bit more in groups.

Teams will rotate depending on results in first round, but things dont always go according to plan in big competitions.
Some players are tired from long season in clubs, so I expect to see big surprises in first few rounds.

Spain is now far from the best, Italy has 30 decent players to pick from but no gamechangers and Croatia's midfield trio lacks the legs to repeat the success of the previous tournaments.

They are still really good teams, don't get me wrong. It's just my opinion that both Italy and Spain were a lot stronger 4 years ago.

We were really good yesterday and I was surprised that our manager let our full backs play as attacking as they were in their clubs. Gvardiol and Stanišić had great seasons and you can see on them how confident they are going forward. I expected that against easier opposition like Albania but if we are brave enough to do it even in stronger games. Maybe there is a chance for another big result.

The vast majority selected 'yes' because they played either in BSFL or the World Cup 2022 promo that we had - therefore we don't feel extra info is needed.
For the few of you that don't really understand it everything will be much clearer after the 1st round of questions that are coming tomorrow evening.
The deadline is Friday so you'll have enough time to go through them and ask whatever you need, and after that it's just about collecting the points and not finishing last.

Don't worry, the rules are here to cover all situations. Basically it means there are some questions about the games to answer and some points to be won if you've picked correctly.
Seems a lot harder than it actually is, we started BSFL without anybody knowing anything about the format and were cruising after a few rounds.

Just ask if something's not clear, a new set of questions has been posted in the BSFL thread so feel free to answer if you want to to get a hang of it.

Agree with this perspective, even if I'm looking in from the league angle. Spain was the talent pool from the days of Liverpool's Rafalution, to tiki-taka Barca, also from the view of "best football" it was hard to argue, personally. Just the most attractive style.

Italy also did themselves favours in the last decade, shrugging off negative football and at club level at least, you were seeing the rise of Atalanta, Napoli, Roma -- powering past the old guards of the Maldinis and Chiellinis.

On the flip side, I'm liking Netherlands in general as the successor to Croatia's dark horse status, almost as if they were taking back total football -- VVD playing as striker a tournament ago, fresh modern strikers who like the ball at their feet (ignore Weghorst).

Should also mention here I think the Scandinavian and Nordic status as small heavyweights is also in decline. Icelandic heroes of a tournament ago (yes, they just beat England) are today's part-timer Norwegians who couldn't even qualify with Haaland. Says a lot only Denmark represents those regions now.

There will actually be 2 rounds of questions before the 1st game. One will be a general round for the whole competition (it will go live today) and on Wednesday we will post questions that are specifically for Round 1.
We plan to have more players, anybody can apply before the submission deadline (Friday) and we will still tag players that have free entry because they are a part of SB pools and are maybe unaware of this competition.

In my own opinion I think the Croatian team are one of the sides to look out for in this year's European cup, am not saying they are favourites and they are going to emerge winners of the tournament but I think they have good prospects and potentials, they might take them farther than we all expect in this tournament. Just as they did in the world cup some years ago when they emerged runner up in Russia after loosing to France in the finals, this time around if luck smiles on them they might go all the way to the finals because they have a fantastic squad and a great midfielder who can dictate the pace of the game with his awesome and tremendous abilities in the middle of the pitch, that's Luka modric, and also they have good defensive line up and some great forwards who can get the job done, so I think they can compete very well.

Thank you all for your advice and comments, it has gotten me pumped up and excited for this round and the competition format in general. I now expect to fit in like a glove. Although it is counter productive for you guys cause you are leading me to the prize

Sure I will give it a look. I have always been watching it from the sidelines, wondering wth goes on in there.With the recent friendly matches, I am starting to double down on Belgium being the wild horses in the tournament. Many of their players are looking very sharp and the defense has looked solid. It is against weaker teams but it counts for something.

We will start with the general round of questions. They are about the overall tournament and will be settled throughout multiple rounds, some of them at the end of the competition.
We will post Round 1 questions on Wednesday and both sets of questions need to be answered before the first deadline (Friday 17:00 GMT).

Only the losers of Round 1 will be eliminated, General round awards extra points throughout the competition but does not serve for elimination purposes.
In this round there is a maximum of 15 points to be won across 10 questions, we hope you like them.

Please read the rules once again to better understand how not to get eliminated and what to do in case you do, and install the Telegram bot so you receive notifications on time. We will tag more often during the Euros - both for BSFL and Last Man Standing but don't count on us babysitting you all the time.

I entered all my picks already, great round of questions Cro2, I knew there was gonna be a Croatia question in there, Mbappe and Ronaldo even plus Kane, all the usual suspects.

I understand what you are saying, of a truth there is a decline in the Spanish squad compared to what they used to be. You know that as the year is going so also will things keeps changing. Some of the players that used to make Spain the powerhouse has retired and some has been caught up with age so the competitiveness of the team won't remain the same, it will take them time to groom another generation of players that will be able to compete at the highest level.

I can remember same thing happened to the German squad after they won the 2014 world cup. After the world cup victory in Brazil some of their best legs retired and others became old this made them not to compete very well again until recently that they were able to assemble other talents. Just watch out for Spain in the 2026 world cup, by that time this their present squad must have blend together. National team is not always like club side that can always buy the best players in the market.
