Serbia was ten times harder and yet they still lost by a large margin. Maybe in the later stages we may see some teams be a bit harder for them, but next up is South Sudan and Porto Rico for them, I do not think that's going to be even a debate for them.

I am sensing the world record for biggest points difference between teams could be broken with South Sudan game, we may see 60+ point difference easily, only if USA wants to though, if they want to do that they can do that, but they may see like 20+ point difference and hit the brakes as well, that feels like that's a possibility. I am not saying that it is going to be like "let's not dominate them", because they came in here to show the world that USA still has it, because we have seen them not have that in the last few tournaments, and people are starting to doubt them, so that's why this team was built.

So, they may actually have a huge difference by the end of the game, and that may sound like a good way to bet. I do not know if there is any 45.5+ type of over unders, but if I can find one, something huge, then I am going to end up betting on it. Have you seen Curry's last shot? In the first half, it looked so positive, but in the second half, Australia stopped scoring, especially in the fourth quarter when Canada had a strong run while they only scored 2 points. Canada was the better team, and they have now qualified for the quarterfinals. Anyway, there's still one game later. Which team will you choose? It's Japan +16.5 vs. France -16.5. I think France will cover this spread.

That’s a pretty big spread to have to cover, but I agree that this is a mismatch and unless the French team rests players to keep them fresh for the rest of the tournament, you’re probably right that this will end in a blowout and France covering the spread. I probably wouldn’t bet this one, but yours is the only one worth the risk.

Game is midway through the 3rd quarter and you post this.  Japan is leading by 3 right now by the way. The highly praised French D has plenty of problems defending against the Japanese undersized team, it's amazing.

Japan are very interestingly strong right now. France can't get away from them that easy. We are in the last quarter and the gap is only 2 points.    I still don't think Japan will be the winner though but the effort they make is really impressive. I wasn't expecting this kind of a game truthfully. I thought Japan would resist only in the 1st half but it turns out they are here to give their everything.

I don't like France in this Olympics so far. They don't look strong enough to reach the final this time. I would say Canada have the biggest chance to play against USA there - if they don't face each other earlier of course.

Japan are very interestingly strong right now.

To be honest, Japan has been interestingly strong not just in basketball but also in other sports that they're participating right now. This is what they get when their government has given the funds and allotted budget to their athletes training and as well as the staff that they need to help their athletes to become better in the sports that they are part of. Not to mention, the B League that they have that keeps on improving their locals through the help of the imports that they are having. Soon, it is the Japanese ballers are going to be imports of other nearby leagues and even globally.

I've watched the game and it was really intense, I thought that it's going to be an upset of the year. Japan upsetting France on the Olympics is one big news to the world. But then, that 4-point play done by Strazel really did his job well done. If Kawamura didn't just had a contact on his waist with that shot, it would still make them lead by 1 point and probably end the game with that 10 seconds remaining. But then, it counted and there's the call of foul, almost there but not enough. Still, this is something else for Japan.

Kawamura (29 points) and Hachimura (24 points) played their best games in their Olymics career I assume. Wembanyama made difference for France with a double-double. This time I didn't see Batum playing good enough.

Carrying the game to OT despite the loss is still an admirable work by Japan. Good work. In the end, France are one of top title favourites (even though we all know USA are at another level).

Gianis is carrying his team alone and isn't getting much help from his teammates. And you can't blame him for that missed 3-pointer in the end. He was open, there wasn't much time remaining, so, he had to shoot.

It was very close game though till the last 5 minutes of the game when Canada really play defense against the Aussie and stop them from scoring. I will say that RJ Barrett is the one that really seal the win for them and obviously, SGA as well.

Wasn't able to watch the game as it was midnight my time zone, but I have a bet on France by a -14.5 that is the initial betting line and yet the game went into overtime. So I was surprised to see that Japan really played that good against France and almost pulled a win. So France stays as one of the favorite with Canada. While Giannis and his Greece chances are slim now to go to next round.

Kidding aside, it's kind of surprising for me to see the Spain winning against a team like Greece. I guess this is what the NBA analysts are saying with regards to other countries starting to cope up against them. They always say that they aren't anywhere near to them, and this is one proof. One NBA superstar isn't enough for the whole team to win since it's a 5v5 and 1v1. As for the Greece defeating Australia, there's a slim chance but let's also take note that the Boomers are also stacked up with some NBA players as well.

It's kinda surprising me to see Greece at the bottom since them and Canada is what I predict will go to the next round.
