I see nothing wrong if a company ask there employees to come to the work during holidays because if everybody decided to go for holidays how would the company survived because there are company that cannot shutdown for a minute do to the kind of operation they are doing so holidays are not something that would influenced them, however what I no that most companies normally do is that if the employee resumption of duty is during the holidays they would give them privileged to discuss with other coworkers that doesn't like those holidays to cover their weeks of work for them with the agreement that they would work twice than their supposed duration after they're back from the holidays.
Not all companies are open seven days a week. But some companies have to operate seven days a week like food industry garment industry, IT center etc. However, even if the employees here are given one day off in a week, it is a different day for different people. In this case it is possible to run the company seven days a week. However, if an employee works seven days a week, he is paid extra for his scheduled one day off. And in this case the owner and employee have no objection. A company to do well in the market complete with its competitor company has to adopt various strategies which every company tries to do and of course the employees help in that. Because if the company survives then only the employee's employment will survive

For me, I don't think it's fair to make an employee work during holidays. I think it should be voluntary - if you want to come to work, you can, but if you don't, you can stay home and celebrate with your family and friends.

it depends. you can't immediately conclude that it's unfair because each company has different circumstances. for example in hospitals, server providers, restaurants, factories, and other places that require workers who are on standby to keep the company running for 24 hours and ensure that people can be served properly. you can't say that people who work in these companies can take leave as they please and that is their right. they have a responsibility to work and when the company orders them to work it means they are ready to work that day; and they should have known the risks before signing up for the company. but what needs to be emphasized here is compensation for that time because big holidays like Christmas or New Year are extraordinary days, and workers should get compensation for their dedication, whether it's in the form of bonuses or rewards outside of their salary.

While many of us agree that these are extraordinary days and should be paid along with bonuses. But it all depends to the employers that are also into it. If it's part of the law of a country where you are working with and it is an incentive that must be paid, even these employers don't celebrate those, the employees must be compensated. The amount depending of bonus is still dependent to the boss but as employees, many are grateful that they've been given and remembered with such bonus.

Usually this depends on the policy between the union and the business manager or it could also depend on the agreement between superiors and subordinates so there is no need to debate this when doing it because they already have an initial agreement when signing the employment contract (in my country it is like this). I have experienced this when I worked at a supplier of one of the products where for holidays or holidays when we are faced with work we usually have new hours of work and of course the hourly salary is different and there is always an increase between each hour when for example for the first hour I was paid $4 then the second hour I was paid $5 and so on increasing even more than that on holidays where in one working day it can get 2 or 3 times the wage of a normal day so in the end this becomes an advantage in itself and the workers will not protest with additional work because their pay is considered comparable.

Because if the company survives then only the employee's employment will survive On the contrary those companies or rather names you mentioned are majorly the ones that doesn't work seven days in a week in my home country, so this is how they do from Monday till Saturday they would be very active working and doing other things but for Sunday's they shutdown there machines for break to resume the next day being Monday because in as much as there work is important but taking a day break will not change anything, and if is a company that also take orders online they will attend to all the orders they would get as they are resuming the next day, however an employee can work complete seven days in a week without paying extra depending on their shift.

Sometimes there are companies that do not pay their workers on holidays, in fact I think only a few companies pay their workers on holidays and those who get it are very lucky to be paid even outside of their working days. People who can work while on vacation I think are quite cool, I myself often watch TV shows that are about adventure, culinary, what I think is that the people on the show work quite coolly because they work while enjoying their vacation and enjoying food which is indeed a culinary show. Whatever our job, we must be grateful. Some people have not found work because it is difficult to get a job, therefore whatever job you have must be maintained as long as it is a job that is clear in everything.

Sometimes there are companies that do not pay their workers on holidays, in fact I think only a few companies pay their workers on holidays and those who get it are very lucky to be paid even outside of their working days.
Are there any differences between countries, and have you worked for any companies or businesses? Because I have worked for many companies before and most of them pay salary + bonus for employees who work on holidays. Or on big holidays like national holidays, we get paid 3-5 times the normal salary. I don't think that if a company or business doesn't pay higher wages or decent bonuses, people will want to work for them. In addition, working on holidays depends on each job and position, we should not demand if we do not get holidays like others. Because it's our choice and that's life, it's never fair and perfect.

Op, I am impressed by your thread post because you choosed very unique topic and before we did not see any topic like that . You asked that is work in holidays is good or bad? My answer is that is not good thing because they should spend their time to their family because they always work with the company and if they have holidays then they should work hard . There are many companies which pay double day salary when there is holiday and that is good work but employers should not force employees to work in the holidays and that is bad thing and it should be eliminated from our society.If one person want to enjoy holidays like Christmas and christians will take holidays and all other regions people will be on work except 25 Dec .

That's actually true mate, but the issue here is that most people work are very important and don't know holidays except it's their time off from work before they can be free just like the military men, doctors who treat patients to save lives or sailors who work on high sea, there work is not influence by any celebration or determined by anything so surely works varries, depending on the type of work you do.

I have a friend who has worked and is the same as me, but there is a difference here, namely my friend prefers to be busy on weekends rather than at the beginning of the week. On the first and second day or even when he always takes a day off and then on the weekend he spends his time working, in my opinion it is quite risky because I myself am not comfortable if work has to be rushed.
While I prefer to busy myself with work at the beginning of the week, for example I have a holiday event on the weekend then I will finish my early work earlier or reduce it to be done at the weekend where only a little work has to be done at the weekend, that is more comfortable for me.

That is the risk we must accept if we work in a company or work with other people, whatever is said to us, we must not argue. However, in reality, employees who continue to work during Christmas and New Year holidays are required to receive compensation from their workplace because they have sacrificed time with their families by choosing to continue working because of work demands. Luckily in my country, there is a circular from the Minister of Manpower which makes a policy that employers are required to provide compensation to workers who work during Christmas and New Year holidays. So with the circular, all companies must provide compensation in the form of severance pay, otherwise the company can be sued. I personally am not an employee because I prefer to open my own business so that no one can control me. Because as employees we must obey and sometimes superiors always put pressure, work is always rushed, if we make a small mistake we are cursed, our bodies and souls feel tired. Therefore, it is better to have your own business even though the turnover is small, but the fatigue should not make our mentality down.

I have a friend who has worked and is the same as me, but there is a difference here, namely my friend prefers to be busy on weekends rather than at the beginning of the week. So there is a time for every work and we should find that time which will make us all comfortable in every work But not everyone agrees with this thought, therefore every person should follow his own thoughts and they can only give advice some people do it.

For me, I don't think it's fair to make an employee work during holidays. I think it should be voluntary - if you want to come to work, you can, but if you don't, you can stay home and celebrate with your family and friends.
Giving employees official holidays during their festive seasons should be part of their benefit package. I say "their festive seasons" because Christians may want to celebrate Christmas, Muslims may want to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, and Hindus may want to celebrate Diwali.
This is also a way to promote diversity in the workplace. If Christians take Christmas off, Muslims and Hindus can work, and then when Muslims take Eid off, Christians and Hindus can work. This way, you can regulate your workforce and give employees the freedom to celebrate their holidays.

Every organization have their policy that they guide jealously and depending on the nature of the job, the employment letters are drafted and in the contract, the company will state it clearly what free time or off days are available for the employee and both parties signs. There is something called leave which the employee is entitled to and as soon as that is exhausted, he is bound to appear at work irrespective of what season it is. Some organization go as far as paying enticing overtime bonuses to their staffs that will work during the holidays while others recruit ad hoc staffs to cover for jobs during the holidays should large number of their workforce decide to go for leave during the holiday seasons. No employee will be forced to work during holidays instead they are enticed with good offers because forcing someone to work is against the law and no organization would want to go against the law.

Every employee wants to have vacation time during this month but they can't do much sometimes companies have their own rules about all this even every country is different.
At least all companies have employees of different religions mostly the same religion so it's difficult if it's all canceled while the company doesn't want to be closed because they don't want to lose even one day, what about customer complaints at that time? It will be difficult to handle.
In general, at most I myself am given a day off work on red dates... the rest continues to work according to the rules, because the area here is Muslim so most work... when Eid al-Fitr then we are off in 1 week for vacation.
Although it's not all companies that observes working during holidays especially if it depends on the organization policy and the cumbersomeness of working activities to the job/employers.Some organization finds it difficult to release the work loads upon their employers so they literally hold a two to three day break for them to unwind.

It might be that there's some 1 day day-off but theres that kind of mandatory that you do need to work into those holiday season on which i could say that it is really that too much but due to the reality of life that people do need up to work to earn money then they will really be just that getting abide on what are the rules of their company. Good for you if they will be at least compensating some double pay once you do work on a holiday season on which at least it do ease out that kind of frustration on having a duty or work into those days. If you do have that a family to raise then you would be wanting on having this kind of set up on which having some double pay on holiday work on which you wont be minding whether you do want to have a family time or not or simply having the rest day. Lets just accept that this might be that not looking good for most people since we do deserve rest but cant be denied that there are people who do really need up to have some work to earn more because they do have other responsibilities on which they are really that trying out to deal with.

That is the risk we must accept if we work in a company or work with other people, whatever is said to us, we must not argue. However, in reality, employees who continue to work during Christmas and New Year holidays are required to receive compensation from their workplace because they have sacrificed time with their families by choosing to continue working because of work demands. Luckily in my country, there is a circular from the Minister of Manpower which makes a policy that employers are required to provide compensation to workers who work during Christmas and New Year holidays. So with the circular, all companies must provide compensation in the form of severance pay, otherwise the company can be sued. I personally am not an employee because I prefer to open my own business so that no one can control me. Because as employees we must obey and sometimes superiors always put pressure, work is always rushed, if we make a small mistake we are cursed, our bodies and souls feel tired. Therefore, it is better to have your own business even though the turnover is small, but the fatigue should not make our mentality down. You're in a good position if you own your own business and you are not an employee. You also have employee I guess and you're taking good care of them. But with what you're saying that no one is controlling you, you are the one that controls yourself and people think that owning a business won't make them hard work but others working for them. You're even dedicating more time to your business than the rest. I know that owning a business is better but not everyone is designed to take risk like you.

Yes this is indeed true on which there are works that even on holiday season you are getting paid or something that we can call it to be a fixed salary on which as a worker then we would really be loving on having this kind of holiday or breaks. For those who do have a work on which they will be neither like it or not then they will be needing up to work but there are some options too whether you do duty or not but of course the pay would be double yet there are indeed companies that considers out when it comes to holiday season on which this one is really that indeed good or better. So it will really be that up to you on how you do deal up with this accordingly. Of course, for those who are married, working on holidays is the hope of most people who are married because of the needs that must be met for the family. Because, on holidays, they have the opportunity to get a salary that is double or more with the aim of getting more money to meet all needs, pay bills and so on that may still be lacking, especially for those who already have more than 2 children. And I also experienced that in order to be able to meet all needs and also be able to realize what is expected, I mean when you want to have goods for household needs or interests, working on holidays can help you achieve it quickly. So it all depends on the circumstances of each individual, but in reality working on holidays is still expected or desired by most workers, especially those who are married. And most men don't want to see their families lacking even though they can't go on vacation with their families on holidays doesn't mean they don't do it at all and there will be times when holidays don't happen only a few times that make it possible to go on vacation on other holidays. And for those who still work on holidays such as being a waiter or serving the interests or needs of many people, it is a risk and they must be prepared if it happens and again because working is their need there is no other choice but to do it even though they are paid many times more. However, what I know in some companies or government agencies and other services if it is a holiday or a big day such as Eid al-Fitr, Christmas or other big days, religious differences will cover each other and also work together so that those who celebrate can still celebrate which in my opinion depends on the work and also the circumstances of each individual themselves because they need each other and work related to serving is still needed by many people too.
