This is the main reason I decided to be self employed. I dislike working for people. They tend to mistreat their workers which is kinda in human to me. During the holidays, I still see of of my friends going to their jobs with just few hours to spend with their family during these festive periods. Being self employed has been the best decision I made in my early ages. It helps me build my own establishment without needing to take commands or control from any upper authorities. During my holidays I take time to rest and attend to customers who needs to be answered urgently.

When you are self employed, you will be free from depression and less stress, you will have the ability to make your own decisions. You can spend more time together with your family and friends. Some workers don't have time for their family because they always pressure them at their Woking places. They should be time for everything, time for work and time for the family, during holidays I don't think its a good idea for the employers to call their employees to duties. Because they have an agreement between them. Employers should let their employees rest during weekends and holidays, with that the workers will be able to refresh their memories and think brightly about new ideas that will bring growth and development to the company, industry, business and so on.

Holidays are for the rest I think because we need rest after doing work and if we will work in the whole week then we will be dull and we have to face challenges about our health. We need sleep to be active in a whole day and also we need enjoyment and in the holidays, we need to spend time with our family because family is part of us . But if you are medical officer and any emergency happens then you should go for that that because saving life is more important than enjoyment.There are thousands of workers who are working in holidays for extra money,we always saw that kind of people in festivals and they have little money in their pocket and they want to earn more money.

However, I believe working during holidays should be voluntary too unless if a whole team is needed there at place. Health is important and we should be mindful about that because money will be all useless at the time or moment that you do get sick. Just like on what others been saying on here that there are people who do have jobs on which it do have that overtime. On the moment that you do accept the job then its impossible that you havent been told about having a work on holiday season. Grinding yourself to achieve out such success then this is something that we must do but we do know that everything which is too much will definitely be that bad and thats why its that important that you do really know on setting out those limitations because at the moment that you do compromise your health then this is where you should be considering on the current approach that you do have because its not that right anymore that you will be ending up on having that kind of treatment. We do know that on the moment that you are affecting your health already because of the too much grinding that you are doing on which it comes into a point that you do perfect out that week on having a duty or work without even having those considerations on having a day-off at least. I believe every person if still difficult with financial condition keep working every day during at holiday, exactly at holiday or weekend have difference with increasing salary payment and make many people don't care with holiday and keep working to earn much salary. However, working all the time until overtime on holidays has a bad impact on health in the future, must be balanced in maintaining health and need a minimum of one or two days of rest a week after working full time.
Personally, if some one have family at weekend is most important moment spent with children, wife and your family by taking rest from working, there will definitely be regrets someday for being able to spend time with family instead of having to work until the holidays. The industry you work for plays a vital role in whether you'll be working on public holidays or not. As someone who has previously worked on national holidays such as Christmas and Easter, some jobs are necessary, even office jobs such as call centers. No one likes working on the holidays, but you'll be at least getting paid more, it's a necessary evil but you can't avoid it in certain industries such as in the hospitality and service industry. Can you name a holiday that you were forced to work? When some people have extra day off and dont work, they are extra customers for those who have to work. If we look on sales, they are always higher during holidays, than during a regular day. People always spend more on these days. If a person works 5 days a week, and is asked to work for extra day, isnt it great, because its extra money for the family?

From my experience my employer was always flexible about working on holidays. We do work, but have shorter working day, nobody pushes hard to work. Often everyone put little effort during that day, chat most of the time, drink coffee, but receive extra payment.

"a day for a family" - but employer does not force you to work 24h that day. Correct? So you do spend time with family after all. From my experience, we work 9 to 5, have shorter working day (1h shorter). As it is a holiday, family sleep long, until 11 or 12. So I am not with family this day for 4-5 hours only.
