That is to say the tournament is not as big as we think neither is it recognised in football game and besides the names you mentioned are big names playing for big clubs in Europe etc so I don't see any reasons why they should all line up for a tournament that doesn't even attract global ovation to the players. The way the champions League is, even if I new that there was a Unity cup for the super eagles I would have still watch the champions League, instead of the final day they fixed the match it should have been today as Arsenal and PSG have completed the finals so that Nigerians could watch there country in the Unity cup or fixed it in the time after champions league would have ended but however even if another match was more interesting for me yesterday I'm happy the super eagles have won the Unity cup, this is making the Unity cup the fourt time super eagles has won it and the fifth is possibly next year.

The Unity Cup final between Jamaica and Nigeria was played at 19:30 pm G.M.T of which before the Unity Cup final kick off the Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal has already ended, so even as the Unity Cup final was fixed on the same day with the Champions League final, you can still watch the Champions League final and still watch the Unity Cup final if you want.

I think many Nigerians didn't watch the Unity Cup finals, some didn't know such a match was played. The match that was on everyone's lips was the Champions League final that PSG won. Up till today, I don't think I have heard anyone around me or a Nigerian on social media congratulating the Super Eagles on winning against Jamaica in the Unity Cup finals.

I'm not aware of the worth and value of this competition but am not persuaded that it holds much value dew to the countries that participated in it,

I saw India, Jamaica and some other lowly rated football national teams which shows that this tournament is not a major tournament,

I still find it difficult to believe that the super eagles will not  be participating in the world cup and at such do not see any motivating factor to celebrate this win.

Any trophy boosts the confidence of the players and creates a winning mentality in the team. However, it is true that returning to the World Cup is more important for a big football nation like Nigeria than winning small trophies. Those guys needed to rest, they been very active in European football, so they need that rest. However I feel it is from the players that influence their coaches to reach out  to the Nigerian coach to allow them rest for this period, they didn't just want to come, if Nigeria qualified for the World cup, those guys would have been in camp training by now, preparing themselves for the world cup and the excuse of wanting to rest wouldn't have been there. As we speak most European players that their country qualified for the World cup are in their various camps still trying to prepare themselves, so they shouldn't use rest as an excuse for not wanting to come.

 From the very beginning I never expected our top players to be present in this competition because most of them will not feel ok playing in such a competition when other top nations will be featuring in the fifa world cup a few weeks time from now.

It's funny that the big boys are preparing for the world cup and we are here praising the Super Eagle for winning the unity cup that nobody gives a fuck about because it doesn't have weight. Jamaica is a weak country when talking about football and that's the nation Nigeria is proud of winning. You are very right it was a lot of drama to watch the super eagles play so well and honestly those guys are no match for the super eagles that just the truth here another thing I obviously could say about the them…was that they all felt the super eagles where just little since they got disqualified from the AFCON so that gave them big opportunity to win…

The Nations that participated in this do called unity cup what is their pedigree when it comes to world football with all due respect to these teams. With the level and quality of players that the super eagles have we should not be talking about winning a tournament of this nature playing glorified matches with countries like Jamaica for God's sake. What value are you talking about? that tournament is meaningless, because I don’t really know what development people are expecting from the tournament, such tournaments are meaningless and if it was a good tournament you will not see Nigerian playing in that tournament but because it was just a tournament for local teams which is why you have to see something of that nature.

What value are you talking about? that tournament is meaningless, because I don’t really know what development people are expecting from the tournament, such tournaments are meaningless and if it was a good tournament you will not see Nigerian playing in that tournament but because it was just a tournament for local teams which is why you have to see something of that nature.

I understand what you are saying. The super eagles have not been impressive in recent times whereas they're still seen as the giant of Africa but they don't act like the giants they're supposed to be. This unity cup that everyone is clamouring that they won is the least cup that a team like the super eagles should be celebrating in their level.

Nigeria has always won the unity cup since it began because they're the most strong side of the tournament. It would be right to say that Nigeria has to always win it because there's nothing competitive in the tournament. If you check the FIFA rankings of all the teams that participated in the just concluded unity cup you will see that Nigeria should not celebrate winning a title against the teams involved. These are teams that the super eagles are celebrating a victory over. Playing a final with a team at the 130th place should attract more goals than the even scored. They have consecutively lost a chance to go to the world cup in 2022 and 2026 and what should we celebrating with the unity cup?

I tend to understand that Eric Chelle didn't start the entire Qualifying games during world cup qualifiers so if someone is to blame, Finidi George should be blamed for destroying the reputation of the super eagles. I still maintain that the unity cup is not their mate and should not be seen as an achievement for a team like Nigeria.

At this point there is nothing to be impressed about the super eagle team honestly, not making it to the 2026 World Cup despite all the advantages they had just proved how poor the team is, a celebration on a victory against Jamaica is uncalled for and I my self backlashed the coach for the rubbish celebration, knowing fully that the World Cup is kicking off in 10days time and my country won’t be participating because they failed to win ordinary DR Congo it’s really annoying. The super eagle team was known for participation in the world tournament always I don’t know what sort of player we have in the team that play like they have no passion for the flag they represent.

So, because we didn't make it to the world cup we shouldn't jubilate over another success? 

Are we going to mourn missing the world cup forever? I know it's painful to watch other countries playing in the biggest tournament in the world while your country is left out but we have to accept our fate and move on. We can not continue to let that pain harm us, success does not only come from world cup. We should join the super eagle to celebrate our victory in the unity Cup.

The Super Eagles have defended the Unity Cup competition by beating Jamaica in London. The tournament is an Afro-Caribbean football competition used to celebrate countries with a large diaspora population in London. Nigeria won the last competition when they beat the same Jamaica on penalties. The Super Eagles have now won the competition four times. Congratulations to our own Super Eagles.

Congratulations to the Super Eagles for winning the unity cup. It is a victory well deserved and we hope they win it again next season while being the defending champions.

Irrespective of the fact that this tournament is not as popular as other football tournament, we want to urge our national team to continue make us proud of our football identity in them.We need them to qualify for world cup, we need them to bring the AFCON trophy home this this time around. They have a good coach and are in good form so they should go for gold next football season for both the world cup and AFCON tournament. In as much as I am a Nigerian, I wish them the very best. More feathers to their wings.

I'm not aware of the worth and value of this competition but am not persuaded that it holds much value dew to the countries that participated in it,

I saw India, Jamaica and some other lowly rated football national teams which shows that this tournament is not a major tournament,

I still find it difficult to believe that the super eagles will not  be participating in the world cup and at such do not see any motivating factor to celebrate this win.

Any trophy boosts the confidence of the players and creates a winning mentality in the team. However, it is true that returning to the World Cup is more important for a big football nation like Nigeria than winning small trophies. Because it is disappointing for me to not see the Super Eagles on the World Cup stage since 2018. Although I will also say that the success of small tournaments should not be completely ignored. Because sometimes such tournaments are useful to test the tactics of new coaches, give new players opportunities and boost the confidence of the team. But the best and most effective is if this victory lays the foundation for good performances in future World Cup qualifiers or Afcon, then it will have value.

Although the tournament is a small one but it still holds value because nations also participates in the tournament which shows that every team playing the tournament is aiming for the trophy and for that reasons the participants needs to prepare with focus on winning the trophy which the Nigeria team did. Well I know the coach is very smart and he must be tried or experimented some tactics and formation to see how he could utilise it in the main team and see how it could go and I would not be surprised to see the Eagles coming up with a new formation which coach Chelles must have experimented during the unity trophy.

The Unity Cup is a small tournament and it holds no value because it is organize for diasporas in England and there is qualification round for it, and every country that played in this year's Unity Cup used their reserved players which show how meaningless the tournament is. I believe the England government organized the Unity Cup for diasporas in England just to show appreciation for the value they are adding to England. The Unity Cup is an upgraded training session, so the super eagles coach see it as an opportunity to feature some players who have not had the opportunity to feature for the super eagles in a game.
