I also don't think the excuse is valid. Honestly this is one of the reasons why African football is not encouraging, because we like to give excuses for everything. Why can't they accept defeat in peace? So they want us to be convinced that the field was the reason why the Super Eagles lost 3-0 to Guinea Bissau. This kind of excuse is even embarrassing because people already know that Super Eagles players don't perform well when it comes to national team games.
This is absolutely not an excuse at all, because we have seen it from Super Eagles. There is nothing to hide anymore, because even if the pitch was as good as they wanted, they would have still played the same way. So they shouldn't talk about it twice, because they are not doing what we expected from them. Sometimes I used to wonder if they are the same ones that we normally see in the premier League and other Leagues, because they don't usually show the same effort in the Nations League.

Since, the Super Eagle coach and some other players have complaint against the field, why did they go ahead to play the game on that pitch and gave Nigeria a heavy blow with a bad record just like that. Maybe, the CAF officials that went for supervision smoked cheap weed for them to approve such rough surface as a good field for international competition. This is the corruption we are talking about lurking around the CAF and African football. How can a national team lay complaints against an unfavourable conditions you acknowledged the receipt of the complainants you inspected the pitch you saw everything and you still approved of the same stadium for the international match for them to play is that not wickedness? After they had played and lost heavily you decided to ban the stadium from international match and of what point will it add to the complainants? Why not cancel the match and refix it again for both teams to play that is the way forward.

I don't want to quote a specific post but seeing the discussion about hiring a local coach versus a foreign coach, I just don't understand why national teams keep choosing foreigners. You can see that Senegal won the last AFCON with a local coach and Morocco is doing great on all fronts with a Moroccan coach. Also if you look at the last three World Cups, they were all won by teams with a native coach, from Spain to Argentina and France.
Watching the last night game that the Nigerian super eagles played against Russia where they used a lot of home based players including the goal keeper that is not one of out first and second choice goal keeper, it opened my eyes to the reason why foreign based players and coachers are mostly preferred to local based players. Even though the super later came from behind to get an equalizer in that game, there was a general lack of composure in those players and that has been the key difference between foreign based players and some of the players that less experienced. If we are going towards using local players and coaches, we need to give them the needed exposure that will allow them face any kind of opposition without fear. you can not be have a coach that takes any result the way he sees it and expect us to win key games. we need coaches and players that are going for a win and nothing more per game. not some sort of fearful and weak players and coach.

CAF Baning or sanctioning the stadium Guinea-Bissau used when they hosted the super eagles in the second round of the Africa cup of nations qualifiers will not change the result of the Guinea-Bissau vs Nigeria game or give the super eagles the lost 3 points. If CAF is banning and sanctioning Guinea-Bissau because of how bad the stadium is, which they believe was the cause the super eagles lost 0:3 against Guinea-Bissau on the stadium, the Guinea-Bissau vs Nigeria should be replay in a better stadium in Guinea-Bissau.

Is the CAF not supposed to check the condition of all the stadium before permitting the use?, actually is obvious they were not scrutinizing this competition that's why Guinea Bissau could use such stadium, CAF knew that there negligent was the reason that's why they could not cancel the wining, although we could also blame the super eagles because they know how the stadium should be in terms of the standard so the moment they saw that it will affect them to cope that's the moment they should have raised a complaint but unfortunately it has become an apology while the lost are still there.

CAF is also one of the problem in African football, imagine how incompetent they have shown that they are, is this not medicine after death, talking about cancelling winning, how will CAF even do that when they didn't act at the right time, CAF as a body has nothing to offer, the is not the same CAF that ordered Senegal to return the nations cup trophy to Morroco, how'll they think well, it is unfortunate that African football is now dramatic, cause of the people that are in charge, on the other hand, the super eagles of Nigeria are not supposed to complain, Nigeria have bad football pitch so it is not as if thats their first time of playing in such field, the lazy and unserious guys are good at crying like children when they lose.

What is this?!… this is why we Africans will never be taken seriously. CAF in recent times have made caricature of the Federation and the African soil, a lot of their decisions and actions have either been too late or too poor. This is not to say it’s an excuse why the Super Eagles of Nigeria will lose 3:0, the Guinea Bissau Players also are not used to the stadium as most will think cause some also complained about it. I think teams and footballers shouldn’t agree to use any stadium that’s below their standard even if it has bypassed CAF clearance. They should protest and call the attention of the CAF to avoid excuses and medicine after death.

It’s not a things of a team to decide if they can play on that pity or not, there is usually an inspection that is being carried out by the CAF officials prior to any stadium that is gonna be used to host an international competition. I knew the stadium was substandard but they said renovation was carried out and CAF approved it before the game so what happened in the short time between the time of approval by the CAF and the time the match was played is what i really want to know. Africa is just still a joke when it comes to this sport, and this doesn’t favors Nigeria that was affected in anyway actually.

So the officials that inspected it and gave their approval for an international match, where are they? What the consequence of their actions because there was nothing actually done to show renovations or up to standards qualification.

I'm not surprised of how CAF is handling things because if Fifa can compromise in the last World cup what do you now expect from CAF. Everything about football is now becoming politics and this have to be look into because if it is allowed and still continues it will mske things get worse and football will be full of conflicts and of no interest. Their are mistakes of the past that needs to be corrected and if things like this are happening, it is not in the CAF because i think they too tender and not strong to handle abnormalities if it becomes worse because the africa football is just trying to stand.

Super eagles players complained about the field which they used, and the bad weather condition during the match, but I keep on asking myself if the super eagles are always training on a standard field, all the fields which we have in Nigeria here are not standard fields, so they are suppose to be used to that kind of field already. Let’s assume the field condition was bad, and it affected them in the match, but how did they even concede 3 goals in the match, I don’t even care about the field condition, 3 goals which they conceded in the match was just too much, and they couldn’t even get at least a goal. It’s really a bad one for the super eagles with the kind of squad which they are having, they are not suppose to concede that amount of goals. Instead of complaining about the field, or trying to blame other people for their poor performance, it will have been better if they accept defeat and work on their performance, there are lots of aspects which they should work on.

From my own point of view, this is medicine after death. The sanction will not change the result. Guinea-Bissau have won and taken all 3 point from the Super Eagle.
From what I have read on the news, it says that CAF claims that the stadium was not in the same condition as it was when they inspected and approved it for the fixture, so what exactly could it have been? Did Guinea-Bissau cheat their way to getting their stadium approved for the fixture, or is it a maintenance issue that they have because how did the stadium fall so suddenly from standard? It is not really good that we in Africa (many countries here) are lacking in proper sports facilities. I don't blame sports people like footballers who choose to play for other countries.

You can never see the super eagles without excuses. Should I blame them no, why, because they are not taken as priority by the NFF. How many times have the players been complaining of unpaid wages? Forget the fact they are blaming the field this time, we have always know that has been the major problem why these players are not performing at their best. You want the players to play with everything in them and possibly get injured along the line and lose their place in their club starting lineup. Once we get the leadership of NFF right, the players will start performing at their best.

Even though the Super Eagles are making baseless excuses but we should also understand that the condition of a match can also affect match results. Guinea Bissau is very conversant with that pitch which is why it was easy for them to win the Super Eagles. We can't deny the fact that the pitch was below standard and CAF themselves is also one of the problems we have in African football because why can't they inspect pitches thoroughly before a match is scheduled. We can't also blame the Super Eagles players who plays at.top leagues in Europe for their underperformance when it comes to the national team because we can't expect them to jeopardise their fitness when they have important matches to play in their various leagues where they earn huge amounts of money. I agree with you that the NFF leadership is what is hindering the players from giving their all for the team to succeed and i hope they appoint competent leaders who will have the interest of the team at heart and make everything possible for them to succeed.

Local match settings has a lot of challenges starting from how the NFF manage to regulate and control how football condition takes place in Nigeria with respect to their various stadiums they have on ground, but I will not also agree or accept the fact that this should be an excuse for our players not to perform well because this was the training ground day or started from before they got to the international leagues and teams they are now playing for, it will be a disappointment seeing that they are all coming back to meet the same condition of what they left over the time the same way.

It is easy to just say we did our best but our best wasn't good enough, instead of complaining that the reason why you lost the game was as a result of a poor pitch, so how come the pitch was so advantageous to your opponent and he had to score up to three goals, why is your rivals not complaining the same thing. Since the argument is one-sided, we cannot accept it to be a concrete excuse for you to have lost the match.

I feel like the problem isn't from the funding rather since the flaws doesn't affect them and it is like a source of extra power. Since no serious complaints they had to continue but now things will be taken seriously to improve. Now that they are facing repercussion it's now clear and they will try to improve and hopefully get their pitch approved again for use. I have actually been wondering why they chose to host the Super eagles in such pitch and I decided to make a quick search and I was shocked to see that Estádio 24 de Setembro in Bissau is known to be the best stadium in the country and their primary home pitch located in Bissau. I see bad governance and corruption in Africa but it seems their nation is taking this bad infrastructure too far. If don't blame the super eagles for blaming the pitch as a reason behind their loss because com'on, let's be real, almost all the super eagles players play in Europe's best stadiums weekly so it could be that they're scared of sustaining injuries in that dilapidated pitch. CAF should fine the country heavily for using such pitch. Several fans keep saying that guinea Bissau outplayed the super eagles and deserved to win, do you expect the super eagles players to freely play on such dry lands? There should be sanctions at the end to teach some of these countries that football games deserves better in this modern age.

I feel like having a local coach who speaks the language, understands the culture and truly cares about the team is a huge plus. So I still don't understand why countries do not hire local coaches especially when they already have quality options available at home.
Most of them still believe more on foreigner they think that foreign coaches has more experience in coaching jobs because i don't see why they will be neglecting what they have available at home and going out side to look for it and also pay them higher amount of money, while the home coach wouldn't even need such amount. African coaches who are coaching in their countries are doing well i wish all African teams will have their citizens as their head coach i believe this will be part of self development.
