The greatest blame goes to CAF for allowing such important match on that pitch. The local pitch in my area where our junior team trains is far better than that pitch. If they used the pitch to gain obvious advantage, then it could as well be seen that CAF had a hand in the cheating because they saw the field and approved the match to hold on it despite it being very substandard. CAF is a disappointment already, I don't expect any better from them.

CAF said the field was not in good condition before and when they complained about it, they said it was repaired but before the match the conditions of the pitch got worse again and that was why the field was in that state. I just think this is just negligence from them, they ought to have checked the field again to know its condition before that game. Nevertheless, their opponent played better and deserved that win. The field may have contributed but it was not the main cause of them losing that match. Their opponent outplayed them and deserved the victory in that game. CAF needs to work on their diligence in delivering their duties, such should not happen again.

Field or not anytime the super eagles of Nigeria fails to perform they most use one thing as an investment example to cover up for their failure. This only goes to show that these player's including the coaching staff of the team and the entire NFF is not taking responsibility for the loss and is just looking for excuses to cover up. Am not supporting the substandard field that was used in playing a game of that magnitude but , a critical look at that game shows that the home team played better and that was why they won the game convincingly.

If you watch this game , you will agree with me it is a pure setup to me. Which kind of pitch is this for cry out loud. It does not even make any sense at all, the nigerian super eagles were just battling to even understand the size of the pitch and its perimeters as well. Also imagine when you play the ball it does not even deliver as supposed . Big shame to CAF for watching thi happen. This for me was a pure child’s play and not a professional football. I know football is not all about emotions but this was an absolute joke to watch whether the Super Eagles won or not. If they won I would have just called it a luck in their side because the pitch was a complete mess of a serious football qualifier like this. I’m not a Guinea Bissau person but I’m shy for them to have kept their pitch like this unless it was completely a planned move.

I am aware that most of our players are used to good pitches, so that a bad one might affect their performance. But, as most members have highlighted, the Super Eagles is in poor state currently. The team used to have a pattern of play, but this new coach has relied more on luck than on workable tactics.

Let's assume that the pitch was the reason for that disgraceful loss; what would be the excuse for their poor display against Russia? I watched the highlight of that game and I was ashamed of the team. The Russians played the Super Eagles like a professional side playing an amateur team. It was just luck that we got a draw because the Super Eagles was totally outclassed.

Since CAF was already aware of the condition of the field they would have sent representative to go and check the field when they were told the field has been repaired instead they allow Guinea-Bissau vs Nigeria match to be played in that awful field. The owner of a motorcycle that's default knows how to ride his or her motorcycle better than anyone. Guinea-Bissau has been playing in that awful stadium for a long time and they know how to play football know because they are used to it, so it's very much expected they will outplayed the Super Eagles and win them. Because of the relegation CAF made about Guinea stadium that they played Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, I no longer blame the Super Eagles for conceding defeat against Guinea-Bissau.

You made a point here and that was what I was thinking about when I first read the post. I would not blame the Super Eagles for losing out to Guinea Bissau because the environmental factor was in play. The pitch wasn't in good form for sports activities for the match and I think we should know this that it is only a person that knows how to manage and use their equipment if it is bad and no other person can use it properly like them and this was what played out in the match.
Another thing we should note is that the players possibly played frightened because it was clear to their consciousness that the pitch isn't good they could not really put their force into action with the fear of not getting injured on the pitch since the pitch is not in a  good condition.

The nature and manners we see information and work on them is not showing how level of developmental growing stride our leader from CAF heard the information about the field as The have complained before what stopped going to check before the very day the match is played some time out actions always comes when we are already at mess or stock and have no means again, my anger over the whole thing is that we always received complain when things have go wrong, I always ask this question when are to get it right? The did has be done and can't reserve it, it will be a lesson to learn, I won't blame supper eagle because I know how some things work, if I have a bad thing I can manage it and succeed but it will be difficult for the next person to get good results out of it such could be what was faced by super eagles.

Loss of no loss aside.
This is about Negligence of duty and not that CAF is not aware of the condition of the pitch because they also have representative in that country. But considering that fact that that is one o, if not the best stadium in the country, then the blame should shift from CAF to the nation's leaders. Are they not ashamed of the infrastructural dilapidation in the country? We're only seeing the stadium, this means that every other aspect of infrastructure may not be working. Like this stadium literally looks like a foot path to farmland and also looking rocky.

It's normal for African leaders to focus on reactive measures than proactive measures because that's their nature and I wonder if they don't learn anything from these developed nations they travel to and even watch on the TV.

This is African football and the players should have known better and be fully aware of what to expect especially in terms of the nature of the pitch. This is not the first time we are having such issues, and coming out to blame the condition of the pitch after such a heavy defeat just show there’s no preparation. The players and the team management should have learnt from past experiences and know what to expect and then prepare themselves to deal with the situation. I believe the second leg will be played in Nigeria and let’s see the kind of performance the super eagles will be able to put out in the return leg only then we can justify if truly the problem was from the nature of the pitch.

The question is when will our continents seat up to meet up what is required of them looking at the standard of the pitch and claimed it's the best in that Nation of tearful to express, CAF never do their job well it's their responsibility to write and seek attention from the government they have the write to withdraw the match if they failed to meet up the requirements, secondly our team are grown from Africa and nothing new despite the fact that we are quick to adapt to some standard such mentality of our environment should not have evaporated or escape easily " Tonimez" the right phrase negligence is what I was draw inference as the course of the how challenge because where the representative did their work perfectly and effectively all argument wouldn't be in this very match left alone experience of lost.

I believe the second leg will be played in Nigeria and let’s see the kind of performance the super eagles will be able to put out in the return leg only then we can justify if truly the problem was from the nature of the pitch.
If the second leg match is drawn or lost, they will have no more excuses to show. Although I never want our players to lose, but if there is a lack of adequate training, preparation and practice, then there is a possibility of losing in any field, be it at home or abroad. Also, if the fitness and preparation are not right, then no plan or tactics of the coach will affect the performance on the field. We want the Super Eagles to win the hearts of the audience by showing their performance and not by showing any excuses.

This is African football and the players should have known better and be fully aware of what to expect especially in terms of the nature of the pitch. Well, with the players that we have, there is no amount of training that will birth anything different if they don't work on their mentality and see that they have messed up so many times and that they have to stand up and become a people that are accountable for the trust that have been given to them that they have continually thrown away. the issue of the bad condition of the field is just a distraction as far as i know. fans have lost him in the super eagles and the only way to bring back that interest is to start getting the right result.

You will not blame the players if they complained about the pitch. These are international player's that play on good pitches and haven't had a rough pitch experience their time playing. Merely seeing and knowing the pitch on which they would perform is not in good form instills that consciousness of being mindful while they play so they don't get injured because they know what it means of such happens and it would also affect their performances as well. So that I think is a valid reasons to which they lost but the return leg would determine if truly the Guinea Bissau team are stronger than the Eagles or not and I hope the Eagles proves themselves to be who they are and not using the Guinea Bissau pitch as execuse to have lost the match.

It seems this current coach of the Super Eagles is even the worst coach among all the coaches the Super Eagles have ever had. In his time, he has been unable to bring these players together to form a good team.

Looking at the players individually, they are good, but when they come together, their performance looks like a bunch of weak players. If a coach is unable to manage talented players and bring the best out of them, it means the coach is not doing the job well. Looking at the Super Eagles, it seems their performance is even becoming worse as each day goes by.

No boss, the worst coach ever had in Super Eagles was George Finidi. And as it is, Augustine Eguavoen who took over the Super Falconets recently might come to rescue the Super Eagles. Eric Chelle was good and I don't really know what is happening to him. He was doing well when he first came to rescue the Super Eagles from losing out in the 2025/26 Qualifiers of Africa Cup.

Yes with this, the coach has a bigger problem to solve and what has to do now is to know the individual players and and reset them. What I am noticing from him now he is not serious about the job like before again.

And this very true, the expectations of every Nigerian is to see the super eagles do well in the global stage because we may have our differences as a people but whenever our players needs the support and visibility we make sure they have that to the fullest but it’s very disheartening to see that our players are playing below their potentials in games where we expect them to win or prove to the world we are the best, the current AFCON group stage game where Nigeria is in a group where only one of those teams will proceed to the next stage as Tanzania has already qualified for the next stage because they are one of the host nations and all Nigerians expected the super eagles to top the table at the end of the last fixtures but they went ahead to lose to Guinea Bissau 3-0, which is bad because for super eagles to fail to qualify for the world cup campaign and also fail to qualify for the coming afcon campaign will be very disappointing for every super eagles supporters

How did they perform against Russia? It was the same incoherent and tactically lacking display of incompetence and unseriousness. The Super Eagles have not impressed Nigerians in these few years; therefore, blaming the pitch is unacceptable.

Ok, let's wait for the return leg, like you said, before concluding. When I look at the FIFA rankings of Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau, I feel very disappointed. It is now getting clearer in every game that without Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles is like a blunt knife.

The only way to please me is for them to beat Guinea-Bissau by three goals or more.

I don't subscribe to blaming the coach for anything. Super Eagles squad are just something else. This is the same coach that led them to the Unity cup in 2025 and 2026 and same coach that took them to 3rd place in AFCON 2025. I do ask myself what changed with the players? Of course we can agree that the only player in that team that plays with enthusiasm in the forward is Osimhen of which was absent in these very terrible matches. I watched their match myself and was very disappointed. I think going forward, I will only watch highlights until the team improves. I would not blame the coach totally, the players are performing like goats.

It's very funny to talk about this part, they are making mockery of themselves, perhaps they are not Africans, do we have much better pitch in this part of the world, or are they telling us that they have not played in much bad pitch that is like the one they played against Guinea Bisau, Nigerian super eagles should rather be addressed as comedians than footballers, because everyone of their losses this time around has an excuse to back them up.

I watched the match between super eagles against Russia, I do not want to discuss such nonchalant attitude of the super eagles players, athough they later equalized, but that game was full of shit from them, as for beating Guinea-Bisau with more goals, so that you can be pleased, sir please, use your time to do something meaningful, so that you won't get disappointed.

While you have every right to actually blame the players for their lack of competitiveness and how they have made excuses for every defeat which I don’t blame them because if we have had a very good federation and a functioning body I do not think we will be seeing some players currently still representing this nation.

But they have every right to complain about the pitch because if CAF can actually stops Nigeria for using some stadiums here as their home like the Moshood Abiola Stadium then that Benin stadium shouldn’t be allowed. One problem about playing in a bad pitch is if the home team knows the pitch very well the opposition team suffers it. Even in Europe most countries and clubs complain of bad pitch and uses it as excuses, what we are waiting for now is the return leg if Nigeria cannot respond with a good performance then we can say they shouldn’t make any excuses but for now they have the right to.

As for the Russia game it was a different team that played that game not the main or current super eagle players
