Did anybody watch today's match between our U17 Nigerian team vs Ivory Coast that was playes around 5pm today? Because I just Googled the score now and noticed that our boys ended up drawing the game at 1-1, despite losing their first match against Niger Republic on wednesday with 2 goals to 1. And this simply means that our Golden Eaglets, which is our U17 players have been disqualified and willl miss to play in the forthcoming U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Morocco, and likewise the forthcoming U17 world cup too. And this is a very big shame to our country that we will not be playing in the forthcoming U17 AFCON. It actually ended in a 1:1 draw which ended their stay in the competition. Since Nigeria has been eliminated from the 2026 WAFU-B Under-17 Championship, they'll not also play in the CAF Under 17 tournament as well as the next edition of the FIFA Under 17 competition. I don't know much about the team and their preparation but I'm very confident that it's most likely an NFF related issue. For a country with very talented players, it's sad to see that Nigeria football officials will never put in their best to help the teams succeed.

Who else has seen this news? It could be a good thing for the Super Eagles, a defensive boost to add to the likes of Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, etc.
He decided to switch because he wasn't getting the call up to represent England, I don't see why we need to be happy about this, a second option for a player who was born to Nigerian parents, if not for himself, I don't see why he finally decided to switch. If he finally gets called up, he is not a bad addition to the squad, we've been having defensive issues all this while, but he should also be aware that African competitions, especially the AFCON and qualifiers, are always different compared to English football.

We are only too busy with the Nigerian national team football, which is why we are not very interested in the talent rich U-17 team or worried about their performance. It goes without saying that the reputation or history that our football had is not being maintained today and this is the same from the U-17 to the national team. It is very disappointing. One thing that Nigerian football policy makers should remember is that if we do not carefully nurture the talented, then in the future, there will be no more talented people born in our country. Success does not come from talent alone, good planning and management are needed to properly nurture and utilize that talent.

Well, are you doing too much and I’m just reading it here for the first time. In my estimation, I would not say this is a shame. I would say that this should be a wake up call for the Nigerian football Federation. There’s so much to be done. I remember the Golden Eaglets, in the past was where the likes of Victor Osimhen came out from. I strongly believe that we have very great potential in these youngsters, it’s just that the leadership keeps making it seem as if they are not good enough. I’ll continue to remain optimistic that very soon things will change and our boys would shine on the global stage as they used to be. It is very disappointing that things have gone wrong this far with our football body and nothing they can do about it as what they are just after is the money and how they can embezzle more funds to themselves. From the national team to the youngsters which is the golden eaglets all are having similar experience and finding it difficult to qualify for world cup. I am wondering what the main issue is. If it is a government related matters, the NFF itself or the players are not really putting their efforts to play and win a match. Out current team can not be compared to the Super Eagles of those days as they were very proactive and well coordinated.

NFF does not care about the national team, they don't care of they succeed or fail. All they are interested in is how to divert funds meant for building the team to their own personal benefits. It is just sad because even if the players wants to overlook the shortcomings of the NFF, at a point they will get tired because they're also human. Nobody derived joy from where they are not appreciated so it's an issue that really needs to be addressed. Nigerians are football lovers, a lot of Nigerians are fans to foreign teams and if the Nigerian football was to be made to a standard, you will see that most of these local teams would have a lot of fans supporting them and even going to the stadium to watch live matches but the NFF is not willing to make that sacrifice for the Nigerian football.
I think otherwise. The NFF care but the government is not doing it's best. It's not just NFF, it's across the Nigerian sport federation. We don't treats sports with passion yet we want to win games. The only time you see politicians and the government pay interests to games is when they see any Nigerian sport teams are heading to final, that's when you see them making promises, they offered all kind of promised to motivate them to win the match. Some of the players especially the NFF are international stars, they don't get paid, they get bonuses which are skip for months and some for years. They owed these guys money and the NFF entirely unlike other countries that value sports with passion. We now expect the players to win matches with this kind of struggle, let's be honest, if anyone of us are there, we will not give the best for the team. I can tell you that most of the players are doing it for patriotic.

Regarding the FIFA U-17 World Cup, this will be the 4th straight miss; the Super Eaglets (U-17) will be doing so. It is a shame to say because these are our U-17 players; many of our quality and well-known players come from there. This time around, none of our U-17 has made a name for themselves in the last 4 years

It feels bad seeing that the under 17 golden eaglets couldn't go far and this is counting the seventh time they are missing out the African Cup of nation, I know they are of good performance and there is still more confidence in them to deliver even on other subsequent tournament they may be participating, sometimes football could be full of surprises and we end up having it the way we least expected, football is all that makes everyone enjoy sports and they are trying their best to be among the top in Africa when it comes to playing it, I know this record will soon change and the make it to the top soon, the only need more of our encouragement to continue pushing further.

I can't imagine the story things fall apart taken it full course in all sector, still wondering what is really happening to our football from the super eagles to the least where our hope is once centered upon, before now our under 17 has been the best, but seeing them not capable of qualifying for past seven times now show the decayed level of our football team not meeting up expectations, I think the management is lagging behind in my own opinion they should seek to identify why they are not qualifying for this quite a number of time , good management can't wait for seven time failure without seeking for better results, if the management reform they can make better decisions that will change the narrative next time.

It's so sad that the Golden Eaglets has missed out on another U17 AFCON, it's not encouraging at all and this year has been a very disappointing one for Nigeria football as a whole because both the men team and the women team suffered setbacks. I remembered how energetic and lively the Golden Eaglets were during the time of Osimhen especially in the 2015 World Cup when they won it and Victor Osimhen also won the golden boot after scoring 10 goals. We don't need to shame the Golden Eaglets because they have set Nigeria high in the U17 World Cup by winning it 5 times unlike the Super Eagles who have never reached the Men's World Cup final, talkmore of winning it.

The golden eaglets have really disappointed Nigerians for not qualifying in the African cup of nation, especially with the quality players they have. However, this is an opportunity for NFF to look at the golden eaglets and to find out area that needs to be improve to avoid this kind of disappointing result. The players need to be encouraged, there is no doubt about that but they need good coaching and good training. I know that the golden eaglets will do far better than this in the future if NFF focuses on addressing the issue that leads to this poor performances.

This is really disheartening how the mighty is falling this bad, before now, we have known the Nigerian teams to be one of the best amongst its African pears, and they do secure a spot in almost every competition very often, but now the case is far different from what we have known the squad to be due to issues starting from the top at the management level. I really wished this teams doesn’t have to suffer this much because of the rifts in management. The boys will only do their best in every fixture, but the effect of poor management will always tell on them, hopefully they get to qualify some other time.

I feel like Eboboritse Uwejamomere is one of the problem they have and if something does not change nothing changes, knowing fully well that they have been under performing is to raise alarm for people to ginger them like those promises that teams are given in other for them to put in their best to get the wins, such thing can make this U-17 bounce back, since 2015 they have not been able to make a come back shocks the whole the African football and im not even sure NFF are seriously concern because if they are we will getting deliberations on their performers here and there.

Yeah, as for me I was also pained too, imagine it was just only 3 days ago we crashed out of the WAFU-U17 I think at Burkina Faso after the last game was 1-1 which was a draw with lovey coast…. It was really a lot we really needed to win because of the first’s game and even though we equalized late in 85th minute, it wasn't enough and that how will finish at the bottom of group B with just I think point 1 or 3

Still they would have done better this year , not qualifying at all is quite disappointing. So you’re right. This is a wake-up call for the NFF to look into the Golden Eaglets situation, and not just them, but Nigerian football as a whole. They need to identify the areas where we’re falling short and work towards improving them, whether it’s providing better training facilities or reviewing the coaches’ tactics . We just have to find way to improve because we can’t continue like this .

I think looking at the trajectory of how our football is fallen day by day it's important for the management to look inwardly and sort players from some of this our local teams in various state and train them to their best for instance they can carry out for survey in various state and pick three players such as midfielder, and the rest of them, and put them into test to get the best because if you watch most of the performance of these teams representing the nation as football team some of our local players can perform more and do better than what we see in them right now just that such opportunity has not been given to them as most of them has no source of getting there, besides some who are their is not by merit but our Nigeria system happened to usher them the opportunity through who you know , seven times not qualifying under 17 is very annoying and show how level of decayed in the football team not improving.

Under 17 was one of those competition we use to compete favourably, but now, it has gotten so bad that we hardly even qualify. The thing is that, there is a whole lot of corruption that has eaten deep into the fabrics of the super Eagles and the NFF, don't be surprised that the reason why they don't sort out for local players is because, some of these European players have succeeded in influencing the decisions of them playing in the National team, This is a feet it will take a local base footballer hardly to compete with, because they cannot match an European player toe toe financially.

It's possible my dear, after they're earning lots of cash abroad and can influence the decision making of the management to play them even when they're not giving their best. It's good that everyone now understand the root cause of the problem in our national team too bad we have a bad government thar doesn't care. If we had a working government some members of the NFF would be investigated and accountability demanded but nobody would question why the whole team both femal and male sector including youths/teenagers are performing so poorly lately.

The NFF has succeeded in destroying the only source of happiness to the Nigerian football in the international stage back in those days, the Golden Eaglets. This team used to be very unstoppable in the tournament and has always represented the country well. Questions should be asked about how players are called up into the national team at all levels. When that is answered, a proper investigation should be launched into the player's welfare and allowances. The NFF is gradually scaring off the good talents of the country by their bad treatment of the current players. The country have lost very good players already to the western countries, players who are world class in the likes of Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Madueke and very many of them which could help improve the qualities of our national team. Nigerians no longer even watch their national team footballs not hype it because it ends in tears always. I hope this frequent disappointments recorded at all levels of both male and female teams will foster the required changes needed to be done in the team.

It is a shame to say because these are our U-17 players; many of our quality and well-known players come from there. This time around, none of our U-17 has made a name for themselves in the last 4 years
We must still have quality players in our u-17 team, but we know that the support that this team has currently is not like the support they used to have before where you could see players move to a place in the national side due to the merits of how they perform from the younger level. Nepotism may make it such that some of these talented young players who should be transferred to the National side, never make it. Our NFF has gotten a lot of things wrongly, so player performance at a top level like players who are clearly patriotic about their team has dropped.

The last Under 17 competition i followed and watched every game of Nigeria was the set of Stanley Okoro which Nigeria was defeated in the under 17 world cup final, and after that set i think it was the set of Victor Osimhen that follows. The NFF are supposed to be interested in our under 17 squad for them to know the under 17 players that have the potential of turning into a star in the future, that is how the NFF can improve the performance of the super eagles. But the problem with the NFF is that they do not know how to nurture talent they prefer giving their brothers opportunity to play for the super eagles, this is one of the reasons the super eagles perform badly and fail to meet fans expectations.
