Newbies be careful with old members, when they PM you for business.

I was once a newbie and I am not sure about what OP is saying because those who send PM are not high rank members, because they won't want to risk it, if they get exposed by the newbie they can get a red tag.

Most of them times it's always a new account sending PM or the Max of a member rank, the few times I've got PM from hero member or full member was about something good, a notification or an advice, no scam attempts.

I'm not going to rule out that old members can also scam people but the chance is slim because of their ranks on the forum, but still it's better to expose anyone that PM you or send you some suspicious link.

For old members to PM newbies for business in this forum, the members is automatically a scammer and need to be careful with, there is no business ideas is allowed to discussion privately by old members, assuming you are confused as a newbie and there is need to ask questions to be clarify, the forum is open for you to ask your questions and it will be answered in so many ways by different individuals here in this forum.all newbies should discard from any illegal business to avoid being scam.

Most high rank members accounts have been hacked,so the hacker would probably find delight in using such account to send suspicious messages/link to newbies that would be at a high chance of falling victim.When I joined this forum newly,a hero member account sent me a PM concerning their project and when I read the message at first I had all cause to believe them because of the rank,but I resisted it because of the negative feedback on their profile.That’s why it’s crucial to check the profile of any user that sent you a PM,always confirm if their profile aren’t full of negative feedback and then consult the opinion of other reputable members.

This issue of old members sending a message to newbies for wrong business deals has been happening in the forum that was the main reason I created This thread in this board so newbies will be aware of what is happening in the forum, the link thread you posted is an evidence that old members usually PM newbies for wrong business, the account that PM the newbie is already an account known for such in the forum, some newbies will fall for all this guys because they are new in the forum and won’t understand some things that is actually going on in the forum.
You are right the only way is for newbies to report any PM they find suspicious to Mod, and you are still right most newbies don’t know how to report to mod too well I think I will create a thread about that so I can teach those that don’t know.

It doesn't have to necessarily be old members anyone scam accounts can pm any rank and try to scam the user, the difference in this is that the particular person they want to scam will actually give heed or pay attention to the particular user that is trying to scam them, sometimes it's very easy to identify such account as their reputation and trust will show that such users is not supposed to be trusted because there would have been a case of which one or two might have reported the account.

Throughout my stay on this platform, I have not received a message from an old account here with respect to a business proposal. It has always been newbies all through, and I just ignore them, and sometimes I block them directly because I have known that accounts that do such are mostly scammers who are using a newbie account to perpetrate such atrocities.

An already established account can not do that, except it's a reputable account holder with good and clean records here on this platform who has gained some positive trust from members. Besides, if they want to do business or they are calling for investors, they would prefer to create a thread for such business talk, not go to peoples dm to request a business partnership. In fact, any established account with a good reputation that does that is possibly a hacked account.

This approach is the best and safest.
Honestly, if someone is involved in a serious business project, they will advertise publicly if they need additional investors or funding.
If they are asking for money through private messages, that should be the first "red flag" for anyone because that is not how serious investors raise funds to start a business, but rather how scammers operate.
There are other "red flags".
Ask yourself why an unknown person, with whom you have no previous relationship, would approach you and ask for money.
Why does this person need money? If the business is so good, then it should bring profit to everyone involved, and not depend on the money of new investors. That is a Ponzi scheme.
Is there someone with a name and surname behind the project? Is there a registered company? What is their business reputation and Google reviews?
So far, no one has sent me private messages on this forum with any business offers, but if that happened, I would immediately report it to the admins.
Finally, I would say that you should be careful of both new and old members when sending any private messages with business offers.

It's true that many people can face account this days to pm you for assist and fall into the victim. Let forget about the bigger rank or small ranks in this aspect, the scammmers has alots of strategies to convince people, so if you are not careful enough about thier words, because they uses an emotional words or trying to draw your attentions at first galce and then make a friendship with you, when building the relationship strongly, then they creates beliefs and trust just to win your heart. I am taking from my past experiences, so the scammers actually uses many tactics to to scam people. But I am rest assured that if it's in forum here, it would be hard not to identify such account who is aiming to scam, even from thier words or convincing and words of lies can implicate them easily, because everyone in the forum are being vigilant and they have learn from different experiences from other members.

Most newbies don't know how the forum works. I know it's important to read the threads that explain the rules, the importance of the trust system, and other relevant information to have a more pleasant experience here. I believe that, because they don't know the forum, they might not know where to find such information.

It's their matter like if they are careful, they will find information for what they consider as likely important with their accounts and money. If they are careless, don't care about these things, even if you give them only one topic for reading, they will ignore it.

It's like if they want, they will find their ways while if they don't want, no matter help you give them proactively, they consider it as nothing and useless.

Even if they don't know how the forum works they should not trust any people online regardless the rank of the account  they handle. Much better to stay vigilant towards those unsolicited message they receive from random people only.

If someone offering them something which looks suspicious, better ignore it and asked the feedback on the community. They are already in this forum so for sure that they can read lots of legitimate insights towards those offers they receive.

If they are careful people, they don't automatically trust any stranger even with high rank accounts. I agree that accounts with green trust or many green trust can have more chance of scam success if scammers somehow own these accounts. Fortunately chance for scammers own such high trusted accounts is very small.

Having to trust an account with a green trust or more is insane, because to me a cop in uniform doesn't mean he uphold justice, they can get dirty at anytime, people need to always remind themselves that humans will always be humans.

To me it depends on what's coming out of thy mouth, or I would just decide not to listen to anyone, my advice is never trust anyone even if they have green trust, it makes no difference.

I've never had a high rank members messaging me for anything that looks suspicious but I've had new accounts like Jr members asking me for information that looks like they are looking for a prey.

But everyone is a stranger here.

Any old forum member that has a legit business proposals will create a thread to let forum members know about it. But if an old forum member PM a newbie with business proposals it could mean that the old forum member is looking for who to scam, and since it some how easy to scam a newbie that is the reason the old forum member chooses a newbie. Change is constant thing in life, people with a good trust feedback could change anything and turn to a monster overnight, so if a newbie see a PM from old forum members and the PM is about business proposals or investment, the newbie can review the PM to forum members by creating a thread, for forum members to take a look at the message and determine if the member that sent the message actually want to scam him or whether it is a legit business proposals or investment.

Don't be surprised with that because that's their behavior and they have been used to it. Maybe they are desperate or maybe not at all and that has been part of their routine.

They prolly have successfully scammed others and so, this is what they think is the quickest way for them to earn. Even with that, if they do not pity their victims, soon they'll pity themselves for karma will hit them badly.

New or not when it's with the transactions that anyone is involved with, don't trust anyone yet quickly. Because there have been cases that those with reputation in the past, they have screwed that and used that as a capital to scam people who trusted them due to their feed back with larger amounts.

Well technically thats true, but what I meant was being a stranger to you, but those you interacted and run along for a long time (Anyone you known and engaged with are exempted at least for me)

Ive known some even in real life probably due to being so long here. Some I ordered food on their business. So when doing PMs its safe to assume their safe buddies.

Exactly almost everyone in this forum are strangers to each other and even in most of our local boards we are still strangers to each other because we don’t even know where we are from in the part of our own countries. Only few users know themselves properly and maybe even get to see each other physically but most are just strangers to each other.
And you are right this forum is nothing different from our social media because we just interact with each other but it just that here it mostly based on sharing ideas and giving informative feedback to others and not much of getting to know each other like our social media.

That is very thoughtful of you to come up with such a excellent idea that has created awareness for so many users especially newbies to know this so they wouldn't fall victim. Thus there are some person's that aren't here for any clear intentions and newbies in the case are the most targeted once. Again, I'm urging newbies to dismiss any pm from high rank members claiming whatever or coming up with some kind of crazy offer because they are all scammers that look to be good but scam in disguise. I'm also suggesting that newbies should report such case to the appropriate authority which is the mod for immediate action to be taken.  Remember that any form of compromising with such user can cost you your own safety so newbies be warned.

Newbies are one of the vulnerable when it comes to a new environment most of the time they are the target of these scammers. For those newbies, most of the reputable member does not reach you out and does not mean that they are a higher rank such as legendary they are trusted already. Some of those accounts possible are sold or handled with another hand. But once you received a message like that better to seek assistance with other community member if you doubt or create a thread to check their reputation.
