Since Bangladesh is a developing country and it's very possible for someone from that country to marry with the earnings from this forum but those who are from developed countries may not be able to arrange money for their weddings form the forum earnings alone.....
I don't remember the full story, it was shared in the Bitcoin Discussion board, I tried to find the name, even I don't even remember if he was from Bangladesh or from India, but he was from one of both, maybe a local could tell us. Anyway, I don't think in this economy even $3k is enough in Bangladesh, you at least need $5k to $12k depending on how big you want it to be.

People always have a choice to spend their money on events like this, some could manage to spend less, but some chose to spend more because they don't want to miss a single pleasure of the event. Like if they need a DJ, they will arrange it even if they have to take a loan, which is a bad decision, but it can happen.

Confirmed — this is a bug, not intentional. LTC should follow the same optional rule as every other pair. Thanks for flagging it clearly with repro steps, makes this much faster to track down and fix.
The matter was discussed (01-Aug) and you said the issue would be resolved very soon, but I haven't seen any such update. Today, when I used (Dex.Fo) exchange, I noticed that the (Mandatory) option is still there like before. Although this is not a very big problem, I want to know when this update might actually come?

Good addition, and worth stating plainly: clipboard hijackers are arguably the more common risk day-to-day compared to phishing sites, since they don't need you to visit anything fake — just infect the machine and wait. Always worth double-checking the address matches what you actually intended to paste, not just trusting the paste blindly. The LoG being two-sided (protects the user's claim, protects us from false claims) is exactly why we keep pushing people to save it regardless of how many clean swaps came before.
Yes, that's the main issue, clipboard hijackers work on genuine domain name of a service and that's where most users with less knowledge think that a service is doing scam with them but in actual their own system got compromised and they unintentionally send money to wrong address because of that clipboard hijacking. For such mistake a service isn't responsible  because it was on user's end not on their end.

LoG is truly a savior in such case because it protects a service from such baseless claims, and it's also a protection for the user who uses the service because if something goes wrong at a service's end then user can contact their support to get his/her issue resolved. I agree with you that everyone should always download LoG even if they make 100's of good swaps again it's always better to have that LoG.

Just out of curiosity, what can cancel an order?

I tried to swap some BTC -> USDT and my order was cancelled.

Quote
Canceled ❌

You will be refunded if you have made a deposit in this order. Refunds are processed within 24 hours.

24 hours is a bummer if you want to do a quick swap to pay for stuff, for example. Tongue

I still don't see Monero among the available cryptocurrencies, even though its addition was announced in this post a week ago.
Fast mode is also still unavailable, despite the announcement that it's available for all pairs.

Update on this — turns out it needs a different approach than we initially thought, it's a technical specific to LTC's infrastructure on our side, not something we can toggle off the same way we did for the other coins. Every other pair now has the refund address fully optional; LTC stays mandatory for now, we'll update here once there's real progress instead of repeating "coming soon."

Quote from: TryNinja
Just out of curiosity, what can cancel an order? I tried to swap some BTC -> USDT and my order was cancelled.

That one was a technical glitch on our system's side — happens occasionally, not something on your end. Refund should already be processing within the 24h window mentioned. Understand the frustration on timing if you needed a quick swap specifically; that's the standard refund window for cancelled orders right now, not something we can speed up case-by-case.

Both XMR and Fast have been live and working through this stretch — what you're likely hitting is a maintenance window. We do run periodic technical maintenance that takes one or the other offline temporarily, and until we get everything running exactly the way we want, this is going to keep happening from time to time. Not the answer anyone wants to hear twice, but it's the honest one.

Real talk on all three of these: we're trying to build the best, most convenient service out there, and that doesn't happen perfectly on the first try. Can you pay a bride price with bitcoin?

Since Bangladesh is a developing country and it's very possible for someone from that country to marry with the earnings from this forum but those who are from developed countries may not be able to arrange money for their weddings form the forum earnings alone.....
I have witnessed different types of weddings in different countries. In the developed countries, they wed during work days and they spend ridiculously low. Your neighbor might be wedding and you will not be aware because it is done on a low key with very low numerical strength. But that cannot be done in my country. It is always a weekend thing with open attendance of even distant friends and relatives

...I don't think in this economy even $3k is enough in Bangladesh, you at least need $5k to $12k depending on how big you want it to be.

People always have a choice to spend their money on events like this, some could manage to spend less, but some chose to spend more because they don't want to miss a single pleasure of the event. Like if they need a DJ, they will arrange it even if they have to take a loan, which is a bad decision, but it can happen.
I just mentioned that figure as an instance. In my country, at least $5k is about the minimum threshold.

Quote from: MarryWithBTC
But if I were to make decisions, I'll just acquire those related domains and not use them at all. Acquiring them is to make them unavailable for scammers/cloners and not for usage.

Fair alternative take, and not mutually exclusive with what we're doing — registering look-alike domains defensively is worth considering alongside the mirrors we're actually using. We'll factor that into the domain strategy going forward.
I agree, what you are doing is great. Putting them in use is better than idling

Glad to see you still around and active here, appreciate it.

You are welcome... You have conducted your business professionally and honestly, i have no reason not to continue to lend my support in the little way.

Periodic maintenance is my favorite kind of maintenance in services that are anonymous, involve money and require trust.

Some project get it wrong by waiting when their is a total collapse before they maintain. I will not panic if i visit Dex.of and discover that some functions are under maintenance. But i will feel differently when the total project is offline for hours because of maintenance.

That's good, marriage ceremonies should be held on the weekends. Sometimes I have to miss some just because they chose weekdays, and that's not a smart move.

I just mentioned that figure as an instance. In my country, at least $5k is about the minimum threshold.
But you did not mention any figure, Samreomo mentioned that figure and I was replying to him? Or did you mention any figure in any other post? Maybe I did not read it. I only read the message in which he mentioned me and then replied back to him with estimates of how expensive it can be. It depends on various factors and one of them is region, because region has a huge effect on the expenses.

I'm guessing it is not a general maintenance that would take the site offline and make it an obvious maintenance window. Probably just fine-tuning certain things relating to xmr or Fast Mode, or maybe even something else, that takes them offline temporarily. It would be great to get everthing working optimally as soon as possible though, so we can put minor queries like this to bed.

That's exactly it — targeted tuning on specific pairs/modes, not a full site outage, so it doesn't come with an obvious banner the way a full maintenance window would. Fair ask on getting it fully stable — that's the goal, and these one-off queries should become rare once it's dialed in.

Quote from: MarryWithBTC

That's the right way to think about it, and it's the same principle we're operating on — partial, rolling maintenance over full downtime, every time we can manage it that way. And appreciate the kind words on how we've run things so far — means a lot coming from someone who's been around the thread this long.

Reading through the ANN thread and I must say, I'm impressed with how things are being handled here keep up with the development of the exchange as your desired platform will be achieved in no time. It isn't easy to satisfy every customer from the get go but what makes a project worth sticking to is their willingness to improve their services to suit their customers demand but still not ignoring the main focus behind creating the project and I can see you guys achieving that. Keep it up guys.

I think he didn't mention the figure in that post, I did my calculations in my post but I don't know why that post was deleted without any proper reason. However, earning $5k isn't that hard these days if someone do things in proper way, only from signature campaign earnings one can do quite well overtime, and doing any extra side job will make the progress faster. Let's wind it here because discussing marriage in this thread is off-topic and it's better for us to discuss things related to Dex.fo here.

Reading through the ANN thread and I must say, I'm impressed with how things are being handled here... what makes a project worth sticking to is their willingness to improve their services to suit their customers demand but still not ignoring the main focus behind creating the project and I can see you guys achieving that.

Really appreciate you taking the time to read through the whole thread before saying that — means more coming from someone who's seen the messy parts too, not just the highlight reel. That balance you're describing is exactly what we're aiming for, so good to hear it's landing that way from the outside.

that's the standard refund window for cancelled orders right now, not something we can speed up case-by-case.
Why do you say it can't be expedited when a transaction is canceled? Couldn't it be done quickly when there was a complaint from a user whose transaction was canceled, on the condition of showing OrderID?

Then on your side, do a check, When the orderID is valid, isn't it easy for you to return the transaction?

The ease and speed of any process is highly appreciated by everyone, and when your customers are comfortable with the easy and fast process, I am sure they will come back again to use your services.
Honestly waiting is boring; maybe some people will be deterred by it.

I would also like to ask one thing, why does your site always display like the image below? Meanwhile, I tried another exchange that is also on this forum; it doesn't show this.

The word "potential" in this context means to suspect. So OKX wallet is suspecting DEX.fo just as they may suspect any other instant exchange.

I can guess that the reason for the suspicion is the domain name "DEX". Your wallet could assume that DEX.fo is passing itself to be a decentralized exchange

If you check the footer of the warning, you will see report that this site doesn't contain threats

This means they want your feedback that indeed the site is not a phishing site. It could be that someone has reported the other exchanges as not being malicious, which is why you didn't see such warnings for them. You can help DEX.of by making such a report.

How aggressive does OKX flags website? As far as my experience goes, using uBlock never gives me any phishing warning on dex.fo (or any other instant swap service for that matter). If it's prone to false positive, it doesn't seem like a good filter list.

I remember reading similar issue on another service thread just a few days ago. The annoying issue is users have to manually make a pull request to fix any false positive and the dev doesn't seems to respond to those requests at all.

Such false warnings are always present so it's better to avoid such warnings. They're having 1 BTC in escrow and that means users can safely use this platform without any fear. MetaMask, Phantom wallet also falsely flag some genuine services and that mostly means there's either something wrong with their filters or they willingly accept reports against privacy enhancing services.
