I think that in addition to whatever punishment they will get, some EPL clubs will likely sue Manchester City too because all the rules they broke over the years gave them unfair advantage over everyone else and that's how they could win all those trophies. But I don't think the trophies won willbe stripped. They'll probably pay a hefty fine, get points reduction and some new FFP bans.
Yes, other clubs can sue, I remembered Burnley suing Everton arguing that their financial breaches were the reason they got relegated in 2022 and last year Everton were order to pay a 35m compensation to Burnley. I see some relagated clubs in those fraudulent seasons taking advantage of this to demand for compensations. Wow...this is crazy, but if Mancity is found guilty, will there be any need for more suit? I'm just wondering. Although, recently, I've been hearing things like clubs are voting to determine Mancity's expulsion, and that Chelsea has refused to participate in the voting ( Source from X). From Skysports, it was reported that other clubs were actually thinking of suing for compensation, but things took a drastic turn and now they all are voting for their expulsion. Some other clubs are still against the expulsion though, their is no unified front in that route. But, it would be interesting to see how this plays out. Yup. I believe that the reason some clubs might not sue or those that wanted to sue would will suspend such action is because they were part of some of the shady deals that Man city offered. For instance, I saw reports that Tottenham may not be among the list of clubs that will sue because they got Marmoush and Savinho for much lower than Manchester city publicly claimed. So if they join the lawsuit(s), they risk getting tagged in as accomplice. There are other clubs in this predicament.

Savinho is good but 75m on someone who scored only 1 PL goal in two seasons at City and was already out of their project is too good to be true.. something fishy went outside the books.

I think you guys are missing a very important point about City being (eventually) relegated: the majority of the players would leave the club. Does any of you really think that Haaland, Ruben Dias, Donnarumma, Fernandez, etc etc would play 1) One season in the Championship 2) One season in the Premier League with no European football? So basically they would throw away 2 years of their career? No way. If a club gets relegated the players abandon the ship. ~
It depends on the contract and on how closely the players are "tied" (in a bad sense) to City. If City are relegated to the Championship and the player's contract contains no clauses regarding this scenario, he cannot simply leave. If City is relegated from professional football, then I think the contract will be terminated automatically (maybe something will have to be sorted out through the courts or lawyers). But! If City gets relegated and completely "sinks" - and, say, Haaland wants to leave, City could drag him down with them by revealing data (which presumably exists) regarding unofficial payments. In that scenario, everyone would have to find a way to reach an agreement. Look, in my opinion you are one of the few users here with real football knowledge and I always appreciate reading so messages, so I don't think I need to explain you that the most useless contracts in the world, are football's We see it happening every summer: when a player wants to leave the team, 90% of the time he wins and leaves. In this case it doesn't really matter whether the contracts have a relegation clause or not, they always find a way to leave. And it bothers me because if you sign a contract you should respect no matter what, but unfortunately the football world works in a different way from the real world. There's a legal concept called an unreasonable restraint of trade. Unconscionable contract... Restraint of trade are usually declared illegal by court order. 🙋 I'm certainly not going to definitively claim that all football contracts are restraint of trade (after all, I'm not a lawyer), but it's intuitively clear that an employment contract shouldn't be akin to slavery. Outside of football, employees freely move from one commercial company to another. Why should it be any different in football? Furthermore, it's important to consider that football players are very wealthy. While they're certainly not as wealthy as football club owners, they're quite capable of hiring competent lawyers. In developed Western countries, wealthy people are equal before the law (I won't say the same about poor people, as I don't know, but I suspect poverty is bad and disadvantageous in any country). In short, as you rightly noted, a football player who wants to leave his club will always find legal tricks to do so. Restraint of trade because after you signed a 5-year contract you want to move to another club? Are you kidding me? What's the point of signing the contract then if they could do whatever they want? Also, can you name any footballer who used this tactic to be released by his football club? Because it's the first time in my life I hear this kind of concept applied to a football contract and, in my opinion, it's one of the most stupid things I've ever read. I prefer to overlook the fact that you even brought slavery into the conversation. I'm far from being a politically correct person but please, a little decency.

Does that means Manchester City didn't only finance their club illegally, they reported less than what's show on the public. I thought Marmoush and Savinho didn't have much appearance until I checked. Both of them had at least 20 appearance last season and for them to be a striker and a winger, something must have happened underground to even buy these players at such expensive price, city even bought them at cheaper price. It's either Tottenham is gullible or they are among the clubs that are into shady deals in the Premier League. Some of us though this case is a lenient one but the more I see reports and dig, the worse it becomes. I don't think Manchester city will go unpunished. A compensation is not enough for the damage they have done to other clubs that must have done everything right and yet they struggle to stay at top 10, their actions could be one of the reason why some teams are not in Premier league today.

I followed Savinho's progress from his time at Girona which is also owned by Manchester City owners so I'm familiar with his game which is why I was surprised to see the high transfer fee that Tottenham reported paid for him. ~Snipped

Manchester city had been cheating for a very long time, I think pep introduced same criminal pattern of transfer to Manchester city, same way he did in Barcelona, because Barcelona is facing similar issues, they present different prices on the media then negotiate different prices off media to bring players to their club, this is a big criminal charges and we're all waiting for the punishment for cheating in transfer market, this will be a lesson to all other clubs. To me I think English FA are playing politics with the punishment, they have found guilty and the Verdict is out already, so what's delaying the punishment? They want to let the news slow on media so many people will not remember it again, the pressure is very high and the FA are looking for soft ground for Manchester city, and if the don't give punishment that will be a lesson to others, club in the league won't be scared to cheat and this will destroy the league.

Right now, all I'm seeing tells me the news won't slow down. I think it's because there are rules, and the FA follows them. They have to give Man City a fixed window to respond, appeal, maybe pull some other moves. At the same time, they have to figure out what punishment to hand down. I think they've got a few options, but they can only pick one. Even the players can't agree on what to do about the titles, for example (just take the title away or move other teams up). They can't afford to make a mistake now.

I'm just wondering if city is found guilty and giving a punishment how bad it will affect the city because one of the punishments that may be given to city is relegation andbi dont think if Manchester city is relegated for a season, if they will remain the same when they are to EPL in the new season. I just found out as of today city have been found guilty but they have already made an appeal of not being guilty and it just hope appealing favours them.
I've been reading in some unconfirmed news reports that City proposed a multi-million pound payment to avoid relegation and having their titles preserved, but that it was supposedly rejected and they are awaiting punishment, since they are guilty of 114 out of 115 charges. The club is in a very difficult situation. What's surprising is that this is only coming to light now, after so much time. I think the audits should be much more effective and justice shouldn't be so slow.

Well, that’s what we heard, but I think this is just another way to slow down the whole process so that they can decide the punishment because the initial punishment we were all expecting as they were confirmed guilty cannot work anymore because they gave backings and many things are coming up in favor of Manchester City and they will have pardon; they will be charged but I don’t think it will be as we were thinking. Their performance today against Liverpool will determine how effective these charges is to the player and their performance, if they can win against Liverpool, the players will be motivated further until final verdict is announced.

I saw "leaks" suggesting the exact opposite - it wasn't City, but the League that was looking for an option City would agree to without further proceedings (i.e., a consensus-based solution), yet City flatly refused any compromise and wants to litigate indefinitely. It will be interesting to see if the League can position itself correctly if the matter proceeds to further litigation: in my view, they ought to expell City and strip them of their titles, forcing City to try to prove their case in court, rather than the League having to prove it has the authority to impose sanctions. If the City wants to sue, then let it sue, but not at someone else's expense, but at its own expense, hehe.

With the way it is going this case will definitely linger for a very long time until they find a soft landing for Man city, Man city will do everything possible to ensure that they are not relegated, soon you will see a new amendment to the rules, we can’t take away politics from football, if it was a smaller team a verdict would have been given since but because it is Man city a lot of delays and considerations.

Stop spreading lies if you don’t know the real story. Liverpool made an offer For Guehi during the summer transfer window, with one year left in his contract. Guehi accepted to go to Liverpool but the club blocked the move because they couldn’t find a replacement for him. During the January window of 2026 Liverpool never went back for him, they were waiting for him to see out his contract in the summer so they can get him for free, Manchester City offered £20m, Crystal Palace accepted to avoid losing the player for free. Go and verify this I’m telling you, it was Manchester City that went for him that window. Many such cases. I'm not saying any of the deals were rigged but there's a lot more going on in the background compared to what we are only allowed to see on the media.
That is exactly what you are saying, don’t claim to be sitting in the fence when you are clearly taking side, which is fine. When it comes to other clubs you guys are comfortable with what’s reported in the media, but when it comes to city there’s a lot going on in the background that the media are not reporting right? How powerful could city be that they are able to convince every club they bought players from, to report a different fee compared to what they actually paid according to you guys narratives. We see the hate and agenda against City, but we don’t care, we City fans don’t like your favourite clubs as well. City needs to be punished but in a way that ensures they can still compete equally in the EPL. They have to be punished though, so that other clubs won't think it is okay to break the rules too.
City should be punished if all the legal process are concluded and it confirms that city are guilty. We are not scared of punishment. What we don’t accept as city fans are rivals pushing their own agendas at city’s expense. What we ask for is simple, everyone should respect the legal process. City will win the appeal, so there’s no much need cracking your brains on what should be an appropriate punishment for City.

Yeah, it's a free world, and you can say what you want but the fact remains the same, and that's the 114 of 115 charges that Manchester City has been found guilty of by an independent commission. What you're saying is exactly what was said in this video : https://youtube.com/shorts/6Z0YUjBW0ak?si=P6XeyRTidU3AGxd5What I meant with my earlier reply was how everything was conveniently going in City's favor on those signings I mentioned. Very convenient.

This justifies any accusations and actions that will be given to Manchester City for cheating. The fans obviously don't look bothered at Anfield tonight. Screaming in their loud voice for supporting corruption in a game that demands fair play. Well, the recent post made by David Ornstein : "The Premier League HAS THE POWER to EXPEL Manchester City from the Premier League." He also added, "But they will need the votes of other Premier League clubs." They should stay up, but points should be deducted so they don't go on to win the league.

An appeal has been lodged by Manchester city and it usually takes 12 weeks to be completed so we're likely going into see some final decisions from the independent commission in January 2027. The league integrity lies on this case, I don't think it's something they can sweep under the pillow anymore and every club seems to be having interest in this case.

This appeal is clearly evident that they are just trying to buy time. 12 weeks is too long but I guess it not too long for a case that was under investigation for over 9 years. Manchester City can continue with their moment and appeal, but trust me this case must be treated fairly, we all want to see how the EPL will handle it. It’s so true that the league credibility really lies on this case at this moment. hence, professionalism must be shown without any compromise. 114 charges guilty of ain’t a joke or something that can be easily sweep off.

If that's the case then the Premier League is ruined. I have known the English Premier league to be corrupt but now that everything is coming out open, I doubt if Manchester City will be the only team to get penalised. If investigation is done further it may reveal more shady deals that happened in the Premier league and it will cause enough damage coupled with the one that Manchester City has already done. When I saw the amount that Marmoush and Savinho were signed, it actually raised eyebrows but since Premier League teams are kmown for buying players at expensive prices, it didn't look much like a problem.

Whether guilty or not, it's the normal procedure and they have the right to use every appropriate way possible to contest to what they believd it's an "unfair" judgement.. 3 more months is nothing compared to how long we've all waited for this.. It'd be fun to watch them exhaust every possible ways and still get punished

This timeline really makes most sense, the independent commission and FA they can’t rush this, because City has arguable one of the best lawyers money can buy waiting for them to make a single procedural mistakes. A lot of some fans do think FA is trying to find a soft landing for City. But a bulletproof legal case is just the reality that they are trying to build, but if this being mess up the whole credibility of the premier league’s financial rules is being finished forever.

What I meant with my earlier reply was how everything was conveniently going in City's favor on those signings I mentioned. Very convenient. Things will go conveniently well for those who planned their life and future ahead and make adequate preparations. Those who don’t plan their own will end up blaming those who planned theirs for their failure and misfortune. Don’t just be an object of envy, if not your enemies and people you thought were friends will manufacture stories against you just to suit their agendas. I’m not surprised that city are receiving this much hate for their success. But I guess we are ready for all the legal battles ahead.
