It's my first post on Messi's decision to retire from the national league/team and all I can say is, that man right there put in everything into every single game he played. The undeniable passion to win, valiant approach, exceptional precision that something is done right 9 times out of 10 trials, we will never see a thing like that in football anymore.

Argentina with Messi and without Messi are 2 completely different teams and that's why I don't see them as favorites for the next world championship in 2030.
Even though Football geniuses like Messi are indeed rare and difficult to get. I am still willing to give Argentina the benefit of the doubt and also willing to give their remaining players some credit, this is their opportunity to prove to their country and the rest of the world they are more than Messi.
Nico Páz is a good replacement for him. I'm not saying he will do more of what we have seen so far, but he can hold on for a while. It's going to be quiet a challenging moment for him because the fans will be expecting something in that range of quality, which I doubt he has for now. I think the Argentina National team can still do well without him--- Who knows where this journey is headed? He may become a coach one day.

Know doubt messi is a very good player capable of doing anything needed from a player with potentials but we most  also know on a very good day he will give chance for you players to come into prove there true potentials.
Before this current generation there have been some great players in the history of football but now they have handed over power of another people also and same also will Messi do in the Argentina's national teams amd will be replaced with someone else that will do same or even more than what he has done for them.

How can you say that someone can come along who can do more? i mean, Maradona succeeded, but he also played another football. It was a rougher, simpler type of football, where the players certainly didn't have the technical qualities of today. And therefore more spaces were created, the game itself was simpler. Messi played for twenty years, rivaling Cristiano Ronaldo and bringing everything he could to his national team; i don't think anyone better than this will come along.
I agree with you. Argentina may have many good players in the future but there may never be anyone who can replace Messi in the future of football. His popularity and performance are unmatched by anyone else. Basically, throughout his entire career, he has not only focused on goal scoring. He has weakened the opponent's team in various ways. He has broken the defense structure with dribbling and made assists. And his attacking and dribbling  liked for a few generations. Because he has been associated with football for more than 20 years. And he is still playing at the club level. And so he has always kept his position at the top throughout this time. And the speed that Messi had in his youth has been maintained until now. Although it is a little less noticeable because at this age it is absolutely impossible to keep everything as before, but he has maintained his performance stable . He has continued to play in a balanced way. Argentina may replace Messi position with someone else from now on but will it ever be possible to replace Messi's legacy? I don't think Argentina will ever be able to do this.

What made you think that Argentina will become a formidable team after Lionel Messi leaves. It's better to remember how crucial Messi was to this Argentina team in 2020 Copa America, 2022 world cup, and 2026 world cup. Loosing a leader of that Caliber will be an issue for them.

Messi left and Scaloni's future in this team isn't certain. That lose in the final, made him optimistic, I remembered when he clearly stated that he needs to rethink whether he is going to continue. More over his contract runs out in December 2026. Argentina have great players who will do well, but I don't know if they will be able to perform like they do , because of how willingly they want to fight for Lionel Messi. Now that spark might be gone.  Another one that cause a downgrade in this team is if scaloni leave, he had built this team from the scratch, if the Argentina management employees a random coach, he might not succeed.
Argentina may change after Messi leaves. Because we only see Messi as a goal scorer, at the same time we have seen how he creates the team's attack, creates chances and leads in difficult times. However, I will not give all the importance to Messi, at the same time Scaloni's contribution to Argentina's current success cannot be denied. Scaloni has created a system in which many players have played important roles.

The Current Argentina team we see today is a good team and can compete in any level of football. I give it up to the role that Lionel Scaloni has played since his arrival as the head coach and has taken his time to build the team since 2018. His constant improvement and consistency is not small. But still, the impact of Lionel Messi in the squad is beyond anyone's imagination and this will be clearly understood henceforth. The team may not get so bad but could drop in their attacking formation. Lionel Messi is a playmaker and a leader. He has saved the team on multiple occasions and in the last concluded World cup where he won 5 man of the match awards.

Argentina will greatly miss Messi and perhaps, their rival fans will finally have peace. The Argentina football federation even announced that there will be a break in the 10th minute of their next game to give Messi a standing ovation for what he has done for the national team and I see it as a well deserved honour. Change is constant and Argentina will not be different now that Messi has left. It's time to adapt and face the reality.

Just saw this news and was shocked. I never expected this because Lionel Messi still plays quality football, so one can assume he would keep playing for another four years. He said he has given his all and his leg cannot keep going. The loss of his father and the pain of losing the last World Cup influenced this decision.

He earned 207 caps for Argentina and helped them win one World Cup and two Copa América titles. He will now focus more on his family, club, and other endeavours.

No more argument about him being at the 2030 WC; he will be missed greatly.

I’m saddened by this news because, in the upcoming Copa América and World Cup, we will no longer be able to witness Messi’s magic on the field with the Argentine national team. Although I realize that a decision like this was bound to come, I believe that Messi’s decision wasn’t solely due to his father’s passing and the loss in the last World Cup final, his age also played a role in this decision.

Now, I find myself wondering who will be the successor to inherit the number 10 jersey on the Argentine national team after Messi retires. After all, the number 10 is considered a sacred number on the Argentine national team.

Of course, it's exciting to see who will take this shirt, but sometimes I think about not giving this number to anyone at all, and instead assigning it to Leo forever, even if he never plays, because there are practically no others like him. He has given billions of viewers countless emotions over the years, and that's important. And of course, we will miss him, but we also need to see the positive in this, because life goes on, which means new young rising stars of football will emerge, which is no less interesting to watch, especially in the 2030 World Cup.

FIFA rules forbid the retirement of Jersey numbers. National teams are expected to number their players from number 1 to 23 or 25. No number can be permanently blanked or retired. The number 10 Argentina jersey is iconic, which means it will be handed over to an important player.  It was also worn by Diego Maradona in the 1980s and 1990s. Just like Maradona,  Messi will be greatly missed. Argentina might face some challenges as they did after the retirement of Maradona.

They will probably under-perform as they adapt their plays and their strategy, which was previously centered about their Champion and super-star player. But time will tell whether they succeed on or not.

If they indeed end up becoming a mediocre team after Messi, when I would certainly withdraw my benefit of the doubt and call them out for what bad situation they have gotten themselves into.

If we look at the performances of the Argentine national team throughout the history of the World Cup, we will see that all their successes have come in the same way.
If we ignore their appearance in the first World Cup when only 13 teams participated and Argentina lost in the final, and the best European teams did not participate, all of Argentina's great successes in the World Cup (finals and world championship titles) are linked to the 3 greatest Argentine players in history, Mario Kempes, Maradona and Messi.
Kempes led Argentina to the 1978 World Cup title on home soil in Argentina with 6 goals, and Maradona led Argentina to the 1986 World Cup title with 5 goals.
Maradona also led Argentina to the final of the 1990 World Cup.
Messi led Argentina to the final in 2014 with 4 goals, to the title in the 2022 World Cup with 7 goals and to the final in 2026 with 8 goals.
Does Argentina today have a star like Kempes, Maradona or Messi who, with 5, 6 or 7 goals, can lead Argentina to the final or to the title again in the next World Cup in 2030?
I honestly don't think so.

Mbappe is in contention with Harry Kane because of goals and yes to be sincere it definitely matters because lets goals are individual stats and this is an individual award. Mbappe finished the goal scorer in almost all the competitions he played in last season and that's a big achievement individually. Goals were been used in certain years as the deciding factor like for Messi in 2011/2012 and Ronaldo in 2013/2014.

I believe that the Ballon d'Or should be given based on performances and not based on what someone wins, because the Ballon d'Or is a singular award that is given to the player as a player and not based on the quantity of trophies won, because if that were the case then Merino would also deserve the Ballon d'Or, having won the championship with Arsenal, partly also as a protagonist and having scored very important goals that led Spain to win the World Cup.

Messi has retired from the Argentina national team. Messi's departure may have a lot of impact on the team, but we may not see this impact for a long time in the Argentina national team. Because Argentina has many good players and if we look at their team, we will see how strong they are and the biggest thing is that Argentina has got a coach who can be called one of the best in the world. Scaloni's creativity and intelligence in team building etc. have a big role in Argentina's success. However, if we see a few big matches, we will be able to understand how much impact Messi's absence has had on Argentina.

All of us messi and football fans are saddened by this news because seeing the player retire that was part of the sport and your life for a significant time is not easy, we will all feel empty not seeing messi on the field again in upcoming international competitions and tournaments. This decision was to be taken sooner or later but after his father’s death i believe he took it sooner, atleast i expected him to play the copa america but its his life. He is a part of my life with football and he will always remain so, Farewells to The greatest 🇦🇷 🐐

Oddly enough, I think Messi's departure could even be beneficial for the Argentina football team. Although, of course, everything depends on the wisdom and skill of the team's coach.🙋

In fact, focusing on the skills and abilities of one player isn't a good thing. Spain convincingly demonstrated this when they won the World Cup. Spain didn't have just one star player. All of them deserved to be called stars. At the same time, none of them tried to steal the show. They played within a unified system, and each brought their best to the team.

It's quite possible that after Messi's departure, Argentina will follow a similar path. They will be a well-coordinated and unpredictable team. It's quite possible that this very team will win the 2030 World Cup. 💁

By 2030, the key young players of the Argentina national team will turn 30. For modern footballers (given the advances in sports medicine), this is peak athletic performance. 🙋

Until recently, the entire Argentine team was focused on supporting Messi's rapid, intelligent attacks. Yes, Messi is undoubtedly a brilliant footballer, but in my opinion, a modern football team can't focus on supporting the play of one player (even the most brilliant). This prevents the team from reaching its full potential.

The same thing usually happens in large corporations. Older, "irreplaceable," "star" employees perform well, but simultaneously hinder the careers of younger ones. Everyone believes that business stars are irreplaceable until they retire. But when that happens, new "stars" take their place. This is a normal life cycle, and I am confident that the Argentina national team will be able to transform itself by 2030, and this transformation will lead to the most positive results!💁

Messi made Argentina strong and now that he's no longer with the team, the team will drop form a little bit because he's the play maker and all the attackers depend on him for a better performance. They will miss him but they need to carry on and build a strong team without Messi so that, they can maintain the team standard.
Messi’s decision regarding the Argentine National Team was certainly not what many fans had hoped for, but the time has come for everyone to face reality. The task ahead for the Argentine National Team—especially the coach—will be extremely challenging, because it could take years to find another leader like Messi who can carry the team. So far, there’s no clear indication of who the next one will be.

Leo Messi’s Instagram post shows who the greatest of all time in soccer is. The video, which shows a payment receipt filled entirely with Messi’s travel logs, is awesome.

It almost makes me laugh when it comes to Messi and his potential replacement. It is clear to everyone that there will never be a new Messi who can take his place. Just as it was at Barcelona: once the Messi era is over, no one will ever be able to take Messi's place.

There are even those who dare to compare Lamine Yamal to a legend like Messi. Lamine Yamal for me is just a kid who definitely knows how to dribble and who has a great shot, but nothing like what Messi did for Barcelona.

Of a truth Messi is the best of its kind, an excellent and amazing player capable of doing everything in as much as football is consigned but can still be replaced by someone even better than him in time to come at Barcelona and even Argentina.
Before  Barcelona had Messi, Ronaldinho did everything no one could imagine and even made all believe it will be very difficult finding his perfect replacement but surprisingly Messi came and even did more than what he did, same also can happen in that of Messi because I know the best players are yet to be born.
As for yamal,  he can never in anyway be compared to Messi as messi is miles far away from him in all rectification.

It is true that the Argentina team will be weak without Messi, but there are several talented players in the team. If I talk about the next World Cup, the Argentina national team should produce more talented players. Of the forwards currently available, Julián Alvarez is the only one I find more reliable. Regarding Martínez and Giuliano Simeone, I will say that they do not have much talent and I doubt whether they will be fit to play for the national team in the next World Cup. The Argentina national team needs to find new players so that they can compete well in the next World Cup. With the current team, they will not be able to perform well in the next World Cup and the team will probably be many years behind in winning the trophy.

Yes, that might be the reason He will now gradually withdraw himself from football. His father's death may have upset him mentally. That's why he made this decision quickly. And overall, he had to make this decision very quickly. Because he is also older now. And there is no shortage of his achievements. As a footballer, he is a successful player who won the 2022 World Cup, won the 2021 and 2024 Copa América and took Argentina to the 2026 World Cup final. When a player has been with the national team for more than two decades. And Argentina has got everything through Messi and the entire Argentine people and the team love and respect Messi a lot. And I think now he will play as long as he is comfortable in club football. Maybe he will not play here for much longer. The fact that he has withdrawn himself from international football proves that he will gradually withdraw himself from his football career completely.

I cannot say how organized the team is and how can the team rely on these talents that you are talking about to maintain their form because Messi presence in the past has overshadowed individual talents since he has been in the team for 21 years before announcing his retirement of recent. I feel the team wouldn't be able to cope for the main time.

I imagine that with Messi's departure, the Argentine coach will also have to change his formation, because with Messi and his excellent vision of the game you can use that type of formation, but with his departure you have to realize that you no longer have a player with the same quality and who can do the same things.
