I was a bit exaggerating, sorry for that. But you still didn't answer my question why he would even lie about this?

BitFinex is a serious exchange they added DRK/LTC for one reason alone, strong development support.

Monero is still in its infancy, its just not going to happen.

EDIT: However, if there are negotiations in place, please have someone more technical and more fluent in English represent Monero community! David is not the person for this job!
David came into monero-pools channel couple of times in the last month or so, asking what he needs to buy to mine 50XMR/day. He is completely clueless.

5:08 PM <davidlatapie> Hi
5:08 PM <davidlatapie> What is the most profitable configuration for mining monero?

2:13 AM <davidlatapie> Hi
2:15 AM <davidlatapie> Question:
2:15 AM <davidlatapie> Which hardware would I need to make more than 50 monero a day by mining?

I'm going to assume that those quotes from "davidlatapie" are fabricated.

EDIT: I hope they are!

No, this was the real davidlatapie, miners logging monero-pools channel can confirm.

What's your point? I don't see the issue with him asking these questions.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's.
This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

I don't remember seeing the exchange but it wouldn't surprise me. David is more of a business and organizational guy on the team, isn't that technical by own description, and certainly isn't an experienced miner. He has some business interest in mining now and has been asking questions because he isn't afraid to acknowledge when he doesn't know something, and wants to become better informed. What's wrong with that?

He is doing Monero PR work  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PRLuaD-qVQ) yet he is completely clueless about technical aspects. Had he mined one single block on the testnet he would have known the answer. If he cant research this on his own then he is no good, a core team PR should know better.

He was the person that walked me through every step of mining back in May. I stopped mining, but we should realize that components change rapidly and the most efficient GPUs change. I have no idea what the answer to these questions are, aside from the fact that I could mine one Monero a day on a 4770k last May, and try to do some math and some more math to find the answer just for my existing equipment. Or I could leverage the fact that more hardcore miners already calculated similar math for more scalable configurations and I could just easily reach out and get my answer with a fraction of the effort.

I'd bet that BFX started accepting DRK after possibly some underhanded negotiation convinced BFX that accepting DRK would posture BFX as the leading premier exchange of the fancy newfangled anonymous coin of the future, supported by certain DRK whales' (ahem, Otoh) assurances to make the market.

Moncada [masternode] openly stated in via thread that dark is on bitfinex only because of him. He further said he knows big names and can make dark reach places

There was also someone that tried to phish (can't believe they associated such a despicable act with one of the most amazing bands ever) me on #monero with some nick very close to fluffypony's, but Riccardo found out about this behavior before and set log alerts to find when this happened and reached out to me personally via Skype to let me know.

David is actually probably a rather qualified individual to talk with BFX. Aside from great character and proficiency of this space's nuances, it probably helps that Raphael and David are fellow Frenchmen.

Lol.  I wish I had saved the logfile of the conversation I had with him.  I strung him along for like 30 minutes.

XMR.FROM as a natural side-kick to XMR.TO has been talked about here. Not sure as to if it's being developed, but seems like it would be a good start to creating more Monero exchange options.

Unfortunately, the domain .from doesn't exist.  Undecided Would have loved to get that.  Grin

.fr exists, I am told.  .from is do-able as a TLD, albeit more expensive.

On another note...

Atrides, dwarfpool owner, is every scammers wet dream, here's why :

He operates the second largest pool, dwarfpool. Current hash rate 3.3MH/s.
The only pool that DOES NOT publish full block history! I've asked him to make this data available and was told every time to f..off. so I've scraped his "Last 30 blocks" page every 1 hour and have been doing it for some time now.

His efficiency for the last 2000 blocks is 81% !
No other pool has such low efficiency, feel free to check them all, both big and small, botnet-friendly and private. Such bad efficiency can only lead to one conclusion - HE IS SIPHONING!

Now take a look at https://github.com/freebazaar?tab=activity
Back in January Atrides asked the community for 10k XMR in donations to begin work on an openbazaar fork. Devs were quick to give support and asked the community to donate as much as possible. When someone suggested that the coins be kept in an escrow Atrides refused and the devs made no attempt to force the escrow or even suggest the donators do their own due diligence.

Move your hash elsewhere people!@#
I also expect the community to demand asnwers and a deadline from this professional scammer.

David never claimed to be a coder. The core team is (also) great because of complementary skills, and IMO David is a great asset for everything he provides.
There are many coders that did some work on Monero and aren't even in the "core team", so the association "core team <-> coder" is meaningless, in both directions.

Stupid, just unbelievable.

BTW I think David mentioned he is trying to learn Linux just because of Monero, which is pretty admirable IMO.

No one has mentioned anything at all about it publicly.  If donators have been asked to keep quiet about progress thats fine but please let us know that is the case.
