Download 0.9.4 version, either from https://getmonero.org/downloads/ or pull from github.

When you run simplewallet, you will be told the wallet is converted (or maybe asked, say yes if so).

Your coins will be there after refresh.

If you're unsure, save the .keys file just in case.

Why is the viewkey able to track incoming transactions, but not outgoing transactions?

just to make it explicitly clear because im always afraid:

I have run bitmonerod and simplewallet and created a wallet. then i receive some money.

if disaster happens and i lose this wallet, can i get my balance back with this electrum seed even if i don't have a backup of my wallet?

thanks

Correct. I'd advise to also backup the spendkey and viewkey, because in case there is something wrong with your seed you would always be able to restore your wallet from these keys. You can obtain the viewkey with the "viewkey" command and the spendkey with the "spendkey" command (both in simplewallet). If not clear, type "help" in simplewallet.

While Bitcoin stable at Monero have a chance to reach the price of 0.015, and this in turn will attract new serious investors who are interested in the development of the coin. The more coins the greater its price support and develop the developers.

Happy to see Monero gaining value. I've been watching this coin for awhile, always seems to have good volume on Polo.

Could we create a Monero bounty to help solve this problem?

Helping would be a great deed and it might bring Monero some good publicity. Think of all the relatives and friends that would appreciate a solution to this.

Yes that is the right link. I think most Monero users would agree that better way-points could be implemented. We can help bring abandoned climbers home to their families by crowdfunding a Monero bounty!

I compiled and checked out the GUI and I gotta say I'm really disappointed. It's nothing more than another wrapper. One more vector of attack not plugged. This GUI is no better than the 3rd party ones.

BTW the import from seed fails on creating file error although I'm not sure if that code has even been written yet.

Sure it is a wrapper... what else should it be ? bitmonerod and simplewallet will still be the main services one should use... GUI is just for convinience

What do you mean what else should it be? Wrappers can be MIM. It should be a direct input.

I was thinking I was going to use a GUI but ....you know what I like the simple wallet. I also feel like its harder for someone to steal my coins if they get access to my pc somehow ...which would never happen but yenno. Simple command line feels bad ass...especially if this coin is offering true privacy for my wealth. that is wow factor.

Is there a guide on rec amount of mixin to use? - are you guys planning on marketing soon? - making videos on youtube explaining how to use XMR  ? - as the ones dash has....

Yes 2 is the current minimum mixin is 2 but will be raised to 4.  Therefore it seems to me that 4 is a good recommended minimum now.  I use anywhere from 4 to 10.

Lets say I send some XMR off of Poloniex to a wallet, do I then have to send those coins to another wallet and enter mixin amount to ensure funds are / unlinkable?

Also what is the best way to get physical fiat into XMR without going though an exchange like Poloniex? - What are the daily buy limits in doing so this way?

Several of the questions you asked have answers that can be found on Stack Exchange.

There are a few options for purchasing with fiat:
https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/1201/where-and-how-can-i-buy-and-sell-monero-for-fiat-currency

For your Poloniex question they would know the address you give them but not the balance it contains or what you do with any of the funds they send you.
