Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I bought .5 BTC worth of Monero at Polo. I don't trade much, so I hope this is not a noob question, but if I buy .5 BTC worth of Monero on Polo, how much do I end up with?

I mean how much do they take. Because I looking at that little trade history, it shows that I bought 23.48 at .470169 BTC. So from .5 BTC to .470169. That's a lot ($17 it took away). In order to break even hundreds of BTC worth of Monero's sell order will have to be eaten up. So it's like not worth it. And my available Monero is 23.44479998, not 23.48.

Assuming you placed a market order they took one quarter of 1%. That's probably about $0.60 in US dollars.

That would make sense. This is just so weird. I specifically wanted to test out .5 BTC, so I can't imagined that I mistakenly typed a sale order for .47. But thanks for your help. I will try the .5 BTC experiment at a later time with a different coin.

I am experiencing issues with Monero transfer from my wallet.

It looks like so:

Code:
[wallet 48KCoY]: balance
Balance: 7.831798228705, unlocked balance: 7.831798228705
[wallet 48KCoY]: transfer 0 47sghzufGhJJDQEbScMCwVBimTuq6L5JiRixD8VeGbpjCTA12noXmi4ZyBZLc99e66NtnKff34fHsGRoyZk3ES1s1V4QVcB 5 4f6862f49ab77c19043f668b8f1c25a274ed4c57ca36704e1259b3816c2187c1
Error: not enough money to transfer, available only 1.013080414777, transaction amount 1.075000000000 = 0.625000000000 + 0.450000000000 (fee)
I reduce the amount to 1 XMR. I am sure that amount I have and:
Code:
[wallet 48KCoY]: transfer 0 47sghzufGhJJDQEbScMCwVBimTuq6L5JiRixD8VeGbpjCTA12noXmi4ZyBZLc99e66NtnKff34fHsGRoyZk3ES1s1V4QVcB 1 4f6862f49ab77c19043f668b8f1c25a274ed4c57ca36704e1259b3816c2187c1

Error: Reason: mixin too low
How to check what is my actual balance?
What did I do wrong?

Mixon 0 is not allowed anymore, unless you are "undusting" dust with sweep_unmixable. Use the following command:

Code:
 transfer 4 47sghzufGhJJDQEbScMCwVBimTuq6L5JiRixD8VeGbpjCTA12noXmi4ZyBZLc99e66NtnKff34fHsGRoyZk3ES1s1V4QVcB 1 4f6862f49ab77c19043f668b8f1c25a274ed4c57ca36704e1259b3816c2187c1

To check balance, type "balance" into simplewallet. From your output it shows that you probably have a lot of dust. You might want to undust this first with the sweep_unmixable command.

i don't think you can dual mine monero with etheruem or i'm missing something? in any case they both peform quite the same, but right now monero is dumped, so a bit under ethereum for now
