I think many early investigators found the software unapproachable and so quickly lost interest. We have no GUI yet still to this day. So that stopped any innitial momentum it might have gained dead in its tracks. Since then we have had to slowly build a different sort of community. One not based on currency swing trading opportunists. That has been a slower grind than if we had had those sorts of people in the community all along. But perhaps that carries its own sort of long term benefit, or is at-least indicative of a different tack this project has taken compared to other projects. |

It doesn't support anonymity on the protocol level so you can do the same thing in Bitcoin. On top of that there was a huge pre-mine. |

When requesting identical transfers repeatedly within a brief time (e.g., one minute), while declining to confirm each time, I've seen large ranges of proposed fees (e.g., 0.03 to 0.20). Is this normal behavior? Is there a better way to reduce fees (for a given amount and mixin) other than trying repeatedly?
On a related point, it seems possible to reduce total transfer fees by manually breaking a transfer into multiple smaller transfers. Is there a good way to select transfer amounts to reduce fees?

It has to do with which outputs are chosen for the payment (the wallet chooses mostly randomly). If larger ones are chosen, fewer of them are needed, and the fees will be smaller. But....this means that smaller ones are left unspent in your wallet and future payments will be more expensive. So it is either pay now or pay later. In this particular instance it probably does make sense to pay later since the rise in XMR value means fees will likely decline in the future. But most of the time it is more irrelevant and not really a priority to control it directly. Also, things will change a lot with RingCt when there are many fewer outputs to choose from. |

Since about the time active nodes hit 400 on https://monerohash.com/nodes-distribution.html mine has disappeared from the map. Nothing changed on my end, so I assume its just that my miniscule hashing ability is so far down the list now that I fell off the end. Any have a theory better than that? |

I don't think MoneroHash shows / detects all the nodes. I've noticed the various nodes I run in VPS would sometimes show up on the map and other times not. I don't mine with any of my VPS nodes. |
