Mining is not profitable at all, except you have free GPU & free electriciy. Although you can achieve some profit on growing coins... But there is more profit if you simply buy & sell growing coin at exchanges - typical margin call 3:1 to 5:1 on few days or weeks.

I think this is a pretty reasonable timeline. I might argue for October instead of December (3 months vs 6 months), but the idea is the same. There is a rapidly closing window of opportunity before some other coin wins, perhaps a different CryptoNote derivative that has a much more marketing savy dev team. Well if I am not able to use this coin without assistance before Christmas, I will sell it all...
If you quote something you have to quote the whole sentence: Well if I am not able to use this coin without assistance before Christmas, I will sell it all and buy doge (if that's still available) what do you think of this shit, man??!? Funny you think we aren't marketing "savy" without even knowing our backgrounds. What is here to market at the moment? We aren't user friendly right now, it will take some time until the broader mass can use our client without problems. You simply don't market a half-finished "product" - did u ever see a tv advertisement for a car without seats? PS: Do you see tv spots from the Bitcoin devs praising everyone to buy bitcoin? I don't

Why you did not get used to it? I mean, i can't imagine what exactly can happen with XMR and people will say "oh, that's a good thing"?

Since there is a lot of confusion around this I made a calculator here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14FC2ZzfDQ5Nz2YgjaNE_BcFVKSEMLLXOWUL9zf_Zw9A/edit#gid=109561233
In short: Yes, it's very profitable unless you have a terrible stale rate! My goal with this is to bring miners over to Monero to make money (and increase the popularity of the coin). ENTER REWARD 15.8 DIFFICULTY IS 867684431 % AFTER FEES/ORPHANS 93% ENTER HASHRATE: 350 ENTER HOURLY COST: $0.021 USD/BTC RATE IS 648 MONERO BREAKEVEN PRICE 0.00148 MONERO MARKET PRICE 0.00415 ROI 180%

Seen a couple of these errors reported recently, one person resolved it by removing everything (including %appdata%/bitmonero/) and reinstalling, the other said they only had to delete p2pstate.bin and poolstate.bin from %appdata%/roaming/bitmonero Haven't advertised http://cryptonotepool.org.uk/ recently, let me see if I can find a suitably large image to express the benefits of mining at an established pool with a record of reliability and quality service...

seems outdated... i'm pushing 390 hashes out of a single 7950 (miner version 4.0 with 14.6 drivers) 3 makes almost 1200hashes (miner) pool reporting between 800 and 1600 hashes (most of the time 1100) other cards reporting higher rates also...

its not good news for Claymore MinerProxy v0.4 Download: https://mega.co.nz/#!WJM2wQZY!YU9QFgnX0vTsfR5PypYNZIjbf_j2lKbezUh74r89kWA No more fees. Replace DevFee address with MinerProxy, and add fee to your balance. Instructions - Enter proxy port, ex. 5555 - Enter pool address and port without stratum+tcp:// or http:// (ex. xmr1.crypto-pool.fr:3333) - Enter Your Coin Addresses where DevFee coins will be payed out, (may be the same address where you mine or different, doesn't matter) - Point your miner to MinerProxy (ex. -o stratum+tcp://127.0.0.1:5555, if proxy is installed on localhost) - Other miners also work with this proxy, so You can easily change pool for all Your rigs. - For failover, start more proxy instances with different ports, and put those addresses to pool.txt If You like it donate some XMR to the author of the software... All this talk about "No GUI Wallet," then what is this that I have been using for more than a week? Yeah I had been using that one for weeks. It's simple yet works very well. The one I'm using now was just released by jojatek in that same thread. They both work very well and he is going to continue to add features from what I've been reading. The good news is that the wallet files work between both of those clients from my testing.

Having several wallets softwares for different OS/usage/taste is very sane. This is something bitcoin has, but very few alts can say the same. I really like the approach the XMR community has on this so far.
|
Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

why do people still favor Poloniex for trading Monero instead of Mintpal ? It's quite strange, what's wrong with Mintpal ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_effectthis is why passing bytecoin will be so hugely bullish. i dont really care how far the price of monero falls in the short term, what want to see if monero as #1 cryptonote platform Bytecoin is dead. Nobody believes in heavily premined coin. #XMR is the number 1 #cryptonote coin. #BBR is the fast follower
