What details? Daemon was shut down for 3 days, started - no sync for hours.
Deleted blockchain, resync - all is fine by magic.
Until blockchain bloat&problems are solved long term future for cryptonight is not good

PS: And having daemon which sucks GB ram and lots of cpu&bandwidth running 24/7 is unacceptable

Details would include things like your operating system, CPU/RAM/available disk space, what errors show up in the daemon window (if any).

Your next step would be to check if there is an open github issue for the problem you're facing, and if not you should open one: https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/issues

At the end of the day, this is an open-source project that is in very early alpha stages, and you are most welcome to fix the problems you've described and submit your code via a pull-request.
Win 7 x64, 8gb ram, i5-2500@3.3, >50GB disk space available. Errors were simply - finding that block X is orphaned, resync, Block X is orphaned...
After redownloading blockchain from post 1 it resynced for 5 minutes. But downloading 3 times in a month 1.5GB blockchain is not good Sad. I always close the daemon after save with exit...and when I started it actually moved several hundred blocks ahead before entering orphan loop This time I won't delete downloaded blockchain Sad.

Hello! Thank you for taking part in our usability improvement program! We really appreciate your help! Our dev team is working hard, trying to implement new usability improvements!
Now we have 57 suggestions from 16 different people as well.
Not all will be chosen but each one of your suggestions will be considered.
Send your suggestions to PR@Hitbtc.com, help us to become the ideal exchange for everyone and collect your 50 XMR.

I thought, we can trade XMR only on poloniex. I just signedup there. If you also allow trading in XMR, I'll try hitbtc too.
But a small note for you: there are no information about XMR on the main page. How can I know about XMR? This is the main usability suggestion, I think.
That's why I registered only on Poloniex.

Thank you for your suggestion. We will add this information to the main page.

Cool, guys, hope I will find a way to help you improve too.

Actually I just thought of the same thing. Everyone who's present here knows that Monero is already there, but imagine anyone in search of an exchange to trade Monero on stumbling upon Hitbtc. If they don't see any info about it, they will just keep on searching for another place.

If you are searching for an exchange to trade on you would surely know about XMR already otherwise why would you be searching? Thats what this thread and also the official website is for. The OP in this thread is one of the most complete OP's out of any of the other coins.

At the moment, bandwidth and ram issues are of the highest priority.

can someone give an eli5/eli10 update on the progress of this issue.
I am from the non-technical/economics perspective, but for me this is of a high priority regarding investment decisions, I am not in a hurry, so if this needs time it is no problem at all.

I saw this transaction last night... any ideas:

17/7/2014 23:13:51   -0.800000000000   <0ced61d7bf937af91a84f36227bb8da7fa1773d25f715790647e3200f605a8ba>

Got monero taken off me lol

That's not a valid transaction: http://monerochain.info/tx/0ced61d7bf937af91a84f36227bb8da7fa1773d25f715790647e3200f605a8ba - is that a key image for an input or a tx id?

I think that might be the block hash? I noticed that the pool I'm on started showing payouts and the block hash listed similar to above. Although using that string I get a no block found with that hash on monerochain.info.

Edit: I just checked on the pool I'm on and my payouts show the transaction hash, my mistake.

Hi, I have a question. I downloaded the wallet zip file. I started up simplewallet and created a wallet.bin file. If I mine to this address can I later put a transaction of my mined coins to an exchange without synchronizing with the network? I don't have much spare disk space to download the entire blockchain (not to mention it's time consuming).

Ok, but I have a question: I have already made a couple of deals with XMR before today. Will I get a rebate for them, or is it just deals after today?

Currently no. To do this, you need Electrum-like app for Monero, storing blockchain on a remote server, *not owned* by you. As I know, there is no such an app for Monero.

Nevertheless, you can mine to Monero address you've just created without downloading blockchain. But exchanges do not typically allow you to mine directly onto their deposit addresses.

Some pool allow you to withdraw with a payment ID (so you can transfer from pool to exchange). That would do exactly what he wants no?

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's.
This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

Brief response as I'm on the run here:
This is answered in the FAQ, but the FAQ actually needs an update: both Minergate and Dwarfpool will allow you to do this (mine straight to an exchange address). Though I can only say good things about Dwarfpool's performance from my own experience, proceed with caution.

PS: An electrum-like app is certainly in people's minds - and though it will likely be a while - it would be really nice to have it linking with 'monujo.com'  Wink

Again these idle talks!  If you don't respect devs, you should be silent. Leave your opinions to yourselves, please.

I said it once and will say it again: I will say what I think, and if you don't share my opinion, you had better shut up. They are deceiving you and I can't call these crowd "team". I think this is unacceptable

A pattern is emerging from the trolls in the thread. Young accounts, textbook examples of fudding and empty, as good as desperate accusations. No proof to mention.

I read a couple of weeks back about a spin doctor who came forth and named and shamed his cohorts, while telling the story of being paid, by the post, for a smear campaign against chosen target coins. Instructions on posts from those who paid for the smearing. It was an appalling read but necessary as it shed light on what actually happens behind the scenes.

This makes me pretty certain the trolls are just paid people doing what they are instructed.

Losing coins like drk and bcn will fight themselves bloody before giving up to XMR, which is surpassing them. For them it is a race without rules.
Also the posts frequent higher when XMR is rising. A good meter really Smiley

You should link the story.

I think they are mostly Russians, from their grammar.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day.  Give a man a Poisson distribution and he eats at random times independent of one another, at a constant known rate.
