actually the PoS jackpot would be a good idea and would bring more value to the coin since it would be more interesting to keep the coin in the wallet than dumping then to the exchange.

Did not think about that aspect, I agree completely that we should change the jackpot to activate on the POS side and not through POW! This is coming from a person (including a friend) with a large farm and I think this is a great idea, and I'm sure he will as well. It incentivizes people to hold onto their JPC to increase their chances of winning, which is beneficial to the small miners. Simultaneously, the market price should increase due to less volume being dumped on the market daily. (Still don't understand why people are feeding the whales, though I'm buying as well.  Smiley)

Please consider this change as I think this would benefit the community greatly, as well as eliminate any problems regarding the allocation of hashrate between pools and jackpot payouts.

I was reading your Jackpot block topic all the time, but now it enlarged in enormous stupid way and i have to write sthg.
Whole your chichat about it is a giant bullsh*t Cheesy
The same way what was blocking user registration at minningpoolhub and other strange moves like changing spread rule in the middle of cummulation Cheesy This all is going into insane. Maybe I'm wrong, so correct me, but:

1. Jackpot block finding is almost totally random.

2. There were 2 things that "smart" ppl choosed while taking their favourite pool. First was the reward type (for me, as stable 24h/7d miner, PPLNS is more fair than PROP with it's hoppability), with 2nd option 50% of Jackpot divided between miners (according to their share amount) and 50% as finders keepers.

3. It was true, that most of hashrate was taken by the minningpoolhb, same as The Jackpot was founded only by that pool, ok. But anyone thought about the costs? As I said, even for me as a stable miner Jackpot block gaved me sthg like 2-3k coins XD same as i get in 1h cause of ppl amount in the pool. You're talking about fair spreading Cheesy Jackpot in big pools is almost unnoticeable. It's noticable,... for ppl that gets it, but it's straight way cause of their amount of block findings. For ppl like me with low (under 10MH/s) or even middle hashrate there is a very low chance to get the Jackpot.

4. That's why the rule "50% finders keepers, 50% pool division" was fair.
a) the finder wouldn't get up so much coins that he could "break" it
b) other miners had their "reward" for their stability and help in block finding

5. Even if some miners (not from the top of hashrate pyramid) wouldn't take advice of 50% of the Jackpot they could move to other pool, to spread the hashes and in that way increase their luck for finding a block and receive their 50% as a new pool hashrate pyramid top. And so on and so on.

6. For some greedy high hashrate miners there was always an option to mine solo. But in that way they knew that they loose every % (from what's under 50 of jackpot) from their hashrate for mining away from pool.

------------------

And now:

1. High hashrate ppl will get their jackpots and the rest can only dream about even a % of it.
2. The same ppl would get enormous amount of coins what only destabilize the coin market.
3. Different pools have almost nothing to offer (except the fee amount XD ), at this moment it's even better to mine solo to get more coins (I could get like 30% more coins from minning solo than in pool, jackpots founded by my pool lowered the difference up to 25%, so almost nothing).
4. Now, while the dif is still low, only two reward system would count, PPLNS or PPS (when some1 decide to rise that kind of pool).

------
IMO:
"There's no problem with overtaking the coin by one pool. The real problems will start when almost whole coin market would be taken by few with "high hashrate"".

They will be able to dictate the prices, and this will really break the coin.
50% rule was fair enough. Not enough to you dear greedy? Mine solo and collect it whole ;p

And few words to minningpoolhub admin.
Next time make inmine survey instead of changing jackpot find rule in the middle of cummulation.
Don't blame it on ppl comments, sometime just skip those bullsh*ts that shows up in here, cause when I read it I'm wondering if some ppl are just blind or  don't think in the long term way.

according to my stats that's not correct. I have ~19.5MH and I found 22 blocks on the pool so far, which resulted in ~1,9M coins. But I got way more coins because of the shares. So, solomining is not even near as profitable for me.

It was my idea , so don't blame minigpoolhub.
I still think it is a good idea , cause it will stimulate people to have their wallets open and keep the coins in it. The big guys will mine and dump again cause the coin will be valuable and secure so don't worry about that. But this jackpot will give everybody a good chance to win , no matter what hashrate he has. Isn't this the main idea of the cryptocoins , to be independent from the greedy banks and governments?
Do what you want devs it is your coin , we can only speculate and suggest.

I don't agree with what you said
(1) If people want to dump, they will dump anyway regardless the pow or pos.
(2) Even if we distribute jackpot through PoS, it will be depend on the coin-day people have, to be fair. Otherwise people can create zillions wallets each hold a small amount to increase his chance to get the jackpot. The bigger you hashpower is, the more coins you will have, thus the better chance you will get pos jackpot. Therefore, there's not much  difference from what we distribute the jackpot now.
(3) Putting jackpot in pow encourages people to mine. Experiences showed that pure PoS coins never really do very well. Without mining, people has less interests on the coin. Pure gaining coins through interests is generally thought to be too slow, and people will prefer to mine, PoS as a supplement is fine, not the main way to gain coins.

Based on these, I think the current jackpot is the best possible way to keep people interested.

This is an awesome idea. I fully support this change to move jackpot to be genereated via POS. I think it would also be cool if there was some sort of light/sound/scratch ticket type icon that shows the wallet holder whether or not the jackpot was won with each POS coins minted.....kind of like checking lottery tickets at the store...this would add even more value to JPC

At this point, I find I'm checking the threads constantly to see whether jackpot has been triggered. If this trigger was in the wallet and generated automatically with minting, it would be awesome!!!!!  A Message like SORRY TRY AGAIN.....or YOU LUCKY SON OF A BITCH, YOU HIT THE JACKPOTTTTTTTTTT !!!!!!!!! (FLASHING RED LIGHT WITH LOTS OF AUDIO)

We need to be the go-to-coin for chronic gamblers. Then maybe we can raise some funds and sponsor some sort of marketing in casino cities like vegas, niagara falls, atlantic city etc...

My thoughts are that the current environment of pump-and-dump, daily cashout-to-BTC, and where everyone just runs around day trading coins is not a healthy environment for anyone.

The coin/coins that find a way to build loyalty and purpose are the ones that will eventually succeed long term and reward those who have stuck with it.

The great part about PoS is if you give the people a reason to hold the coin that the miners will not just go out and dump it for whatever they can get when they move on after a few weeks.

You have to have incentives and make PoW worth it as well, and that would be the side of the house where games and casinos could help to keep demand for the coin moving and trading.

Both sides need to be addressed I believe, but as the block rewards decrease, and the rate the jackpot grows decreases as well, where will the incentive be to keep mining? The miners will all go away if they aren't making the highest possible daily rate...  so I wouldn't base the whole future on the miners.

Just my thoughts... someone has to break away form the standard 3-6 month lifespan of a new coin and have plans for long term interest and health.
