How much is Monocle tied to Vertcoin? For example if the N-Factor scheduling to Vertcoin has to be changed to avoid being ASIC mined does Monocle also have to change?

Hello, may i ask how to merge mining?
If i mine this coin, can i get VTC automatically?
Will pools be up for merge mining (not only mine MON) before launch?

The question is .. what will it do to the price of VTC....

I think nobody can answer this question. VTC price is on the downside since weeks and i have no idea why.
Mining VTC on power cost is within EU impossible ( let me know if you have other experiance and where it is still possible )
If we have now a coin ontop that is also exchangable maybe miners dump more VTC, mabe they hold, maybe they only dump monocle,
maybe ....

With upcomming scrypt asics ( and already on the networks ) VTC should do much better, but ...

Cryptoworld is getting more and more only playing lottery.

The question is .. what will it do to the price of VTC....

That's exactly what I worry about. It's only speculation as to how the market will react. It could be treated as 2x the coin for the same hash so the value of each drops.  On the other hand VTC may hold it's value while Monocle has it's own value which may be nothing or may be more than VTC.

It will be interesting to see how the mpos pools react. There is already some talk about implementing Monocle. My guess is sometime with the first week of being introduced we will start seeing mpos pools with merged mining.

" To mine MON, you will need to use the existing VTC mining software you use now, but you will need to mine on one of the p2pool nodes which adds MON merged mining (they will be added to this post over the next few days) and you will need to change your miner configuration to add your MON address once the wallet is released. You will use your VTC address as username and your MON address as password when connecting;

eg. vertminer.exe -o "NODE-ADDRESS:PORT" -u "VTC-ADDRESS" -p "MON-ADDRESS" --the-rest-of-your-settings "

that pretty much says it

So the block time is 120 seconds?

Where as vertcoin's block time is 150 seconds?

How does that work?

Use "combined p2pool scanner" to check the nearest node from all 3 p2pools.

You will need to mine on one of the p2pool nodes which adds MON merged mining

But I want to mine solo...

Well... setup your own p2pool... i did it too Smiley

its not that difficult and done with a bit linux knowhow under 1h.

Linux:
http://coingolem.com/how-to-setup-your-own-p2pool-node-144/

Windows:
http://coingolem.com/how-to-setup-your-own-p2pool-node-windows-212/

I can say linux works. No clue if windows works too Cheesy

Why I can't simply run wallet and mine monocle solo?

Looks like you can but it'd make no sense. You'd be throwing away free Vertcoin.

- Yes, you could mine just MON. You could solomine it, or someone might set up a MON only pool (you can mine it just like any other non merge-mineable chain). None of this would make much sense though, since you could also mine both VTC and MON at the same time, and get the same amount of VTC you would usually get AND also get MON, so mining MON only (and effectively throwing away the VTC you could be mining) wouldn't make any sense.

Great idea, I can´t wait to mine some MON together with my VTC!

I just wrote an article on my german cryptoblog about your project Smiley : http://www.bitcoinalmanach.de/uber-monocle-coin-und-merged-mining/

Nice Blog with good Infos about the coin. Maybe translate the articles to English to get more readers  Smiley

Assuming very low diff on MON at launch. I can mine it for a couple of hours solo and then switch to merged-mining pool.
I'll miss a lot only if with every MON block I also get VTC block, but I am sure it does not work in this way. Am I missing something?
