I think the most confusing thing is you can not check your hashes/earnings on the mon network in any form.

i can not check my own p2pool node mon-hashes / earnings: always says 0.00000
if i check my p2pool_run it says something about vtc earnings roundabout but nothing about mon...

dont get me wrong: its a really heavy ball you are playing there with a merged coin and all!

but a "real" p2pool release for mon would have been better.
at least for the n00bs of us

I mean: join a proxy pool who stores my vtc and mon coins in his own address and i can not check how many i made...

There is obviously confusion here as to whether or not we are even mining MON. The How-to states the following:

You can cat the Monocle debug.log to see that GetAuxBlock RPC calls are being made to monocled by p2pool to double-check
that everything is working properly. The log entries will look like  "ThreadRPCServer method=getauxblock"

So, how do we "cat the Monocle debug.log" ??

How it works:

When merge mining VTC and MON you are connecting to a proxy together with every one else merge mining on that node.
The proxy keep track of your work but submit it under an address the node owns. So you should see an address with very high hash rate.
That address need 24h to get to full payouts like you did the first time you started p2p mining. So it will start slow and go up to expected payouts over 24h.

When a coin is found it's paid to a wallet on the node and need to mature (120 confirmations).
Once the coin is mature the payment script can see it and start to pay out to every one.
But there must be mature coins in both wallets so VTC is slowing every thing down right now. Most people should see the first payouts comming 5h after the first VTC block was found for the pool.
VTC block time 2.5min 120 confirm. 120 * 2.5 = 300min /60 = 5h.

Then there are the added time of 5 min that the payment script run on.

All the stats is tracked in a database and coins will be paid when they showup.

In theory we can get individual stats for merge mining I think, but I'm not that good with programing to bring them out in a easy to disply way.

My pool currently gout around 20 Mhash and 18 of those are merge mining. We only got 0.58981900 (91 confirms) + 0.69980379 (73) + 0.79761633 (44) in VTC in the wallet so far.
This is the same as 1 miner with 18 Mhash jumping on p2pool for the first time.

Been at Boris from the launch, altho been mining all day at his normal p2pool with no problems.

Everything up and running smooth over here at Cryptomasters. We are currently at around 54Mh/s

When I do a 'vertcoind listtransactions' and 'monocled listtransactions', I see they are all immature.  So I guess coins will not be paid out until they are fully matured.

And when I do a 'vertcoind listaccounts', I see

There are two accounts, account '' has a value and account 'p2pool' has zero value.  Account '' has a balance value that matches what the pool has earned.  But why is account 'p2pool' having zero?  Is there something wrong or is it by design?

I don't understand what you're asking. How are you using the "p2pool" account and what are you expecting to be there?

I am trying to understand how the new system work, especially with how the accounts and addresses were created and used.  When I do a vertcoin listaccounts, I saw two accounts - '' and 'p2pool'.  I do not know where this 'p2pool' came from. I suppose it was created either by the original p2pool software or it could be generated by the new system.  I like to know which software created it. 


I have VertcoinAddress A and VertcoinAddress B under account ''.  VertcoinAddress B is being used for upstream mining (and it is earning increasing number of vertcoins).  There is a 3rd Vertcoin address, VertcoinAddress C under account 'p2pool'.  What created VertcoinAddress C?  Is VTCAddr C being used in the new proxypool software?  If VTCAddr C is used by proxypool, then it should not be zero.

Lastly, I have a question on Monocle address too.  I have two Mon addresses - MonAddr A and MonAddr B under one single account ''.  MonAddr A is being used in upstream mining and it is earning MON coins.
Both VTCAddrB and MonAddrA are configured in the proxypool json file.  Am I doing it right?

For the sharelogger.conf, I have configured other VTC and Mon addresses (ie not listed above) for what I believe to receive  pool fees/commissions.  Am I getting it right?

I will speak for vtc.cubeconnex.com.  I am as anxious about the pool paying the miners as you are anxious about payment.  The pool is receiving both coins but they are immatured ie no payout yet.  The system is very new and there are a lot to learn about how it works.  One thing for sure.  I am monitoring the pool closely and will hop onto any problem when it appears.

The VTC you are reciving is from your old mining 6-12h ago.
The new coins will come in 15 min I hope 118 confirms on the first VTC.

It's like you start p2pool mining for the first time it takes 24h before you get expected payouts and when you stop you will get paid up to 24h later.

You are absolutely right.  This new merged-mining pool takes time, a long time to materialise.  Adding the downtime just now due to hiccups.. what a day!

I am seeing more MON coins coming into vtc.cubeconnex.com:9555 pool.  And best of all, the payout program is accumulating coins for payout.  We are going to the MOON with the MON.  Yea!
