Release 1.4.10

https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/downloads/nxt-client-1.4.10.zip

sha256:

114349601aa8bf9f700a99963677d61ce98cc7fa545295fefea7b44ed2a3beaa  nxt-client-1.4.10.zip

Change log:

Improved display of blockchain downloading status in the client UI.

Added client translations, changed state from beta to stable for the following
languages: Italian, Dutch, Ukrainian.

Fixed a bug in transaction bytes parsing which could cause signature
verification failed errors and break forging.

When downloading the blockchain, require at most one fork confirmation when
still below the last hardcoded checkpoint (currently MS block).

New API calls for peer management: addPeer and blacklistPeer. AddPeer will add
a peer address or IP, optionally with port number, to the list of known peers
and will try to connect to it. BlacklistPeer (password protected) will
blacklist a peer, for the default blacklisting period.

These APIs, and a few others related to peer networking, have been grouped under
a new Networking tab on the /test page.

Peer port handling has been improved to allow different peers to share the same
IP address provided they use different ports.

To prevent overloading a node with invalid peer addresses, the maximum total
number of known peers is limited to nxt.maxNumberOfKnownPeers (default 2000).
Once this number has been reached, new peer addresses are not added, and peers
that have been last connected to more than a week ago are removed from the known
peer list, provided the node has enough connected public peers, until the number
of known peers is again reduced to below nxt.minNumberOfKnownPeers (default
1000).

Improved database performance by storing currency supply and reserve per unit
data in a separate table.

This release will perform a rescan on first start.

Updated jetty to version 9.2.7. If unpacking on top of a previous installation,
delete your lib directory first to remove the old jetty libraries.

Easy crowd-funding system without having to give a percentage away to third parties and less of an appearance of SEC rules violation as you might have with crypto-assets (i.e. selling securities) - only applicable if you are a recognized citizen of certain thug-zones (nation-states).

MSCurrency minting is actually profitable if you have a compatible miner or a nice computer!

have a look here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=935083.0
if you look closely on the blockchain, it isn't just one person taking that advantage at the moment.
plus theres a nice buy wall of EGOLD to support those minter too.

who knows, those mscurrencies may rise in price as they are being spent with electrical values when it is being minted. so they are not just popping up from thin air.

if you don't know how to create your own coins or have a coin in the making but want people to trade while working on the codes. eg NEM
you can do it here easy and secured by nxt. minting is a nice way to distribute the coins.

or just have some fun, create a coin and mine with friends.

I don't think it was to inflict damage. The hacker always said he like NXT and believe in it.
The reason he sold now is probably because :

-The hacker need an exchange with volume to sell his coins
-The only exchange with NXT volume is BTER and he obviously can't send his coin there, since he stole from them.
-Poloniex doesn't have good volume usually but yesterday a whale put a 100 BCT sell wall on it. It caused the volume to switch temporarly to poloniex.
The hacker saw that as an opportunity to sell a part of his coin.

People are discussing with Poloniex to freeze his account,  but i think he is already out. He knew he only had a small amount of time and that was a rare opportunity.

Really? Damn, Poloniex should be aware of the hacker's addresses from bter. If they knowingly allowed the hacker to "cash out" - it's clearly a crime...

Fixed a bug in transaction validation that could break blockchain downloading.
The default (and minimum allowed) value for nxt.maxRollback is now 1441.

Restrict maximum HTTP request and response size in peer networking to prevent
potential out of memory attacks.

Ctrl-C can now stop the server without having to wait for initial rescan to
complete.

Blockchain pruning?

No, blockchain pruning is completely different. This is reducing the size of the blockchain like a zip file does to a normal file, with the difference that file doesn't have to be unzipped to access it--instead reading the blockchain data is hundreds of times faster than reading the data from a standard blockchain.

Yes thats correct, ideally blockchain pruning is the way forward, basically old historical transactions that are so old can be removed with no ill effect, i guess they can always be "archived" for possible future reference if possible, but the blockchain will just keep getting longer and longer and larger in size if things are left to their own. I think i read somewhere that they are looking at blockchain pruning with BTC.

i have heard something like service providers should be the one stepping up to store old datas.
from my understanding the service providers are just centralized businesses that will take such job as an opportunity to make money.

eg. if we get an yearly pruning, and you wanted some old pruned transaction records over one years for what ever reasons (tax, evidence), then you shall go find one of the pruned backup business and the business can make money by charging you for the records, maybe the older the more expensive.
