Very interesting thread that contained some discussions
comparing the benefits of the Bitshares platform with the NXT platform ..
Several NXTers made comments ( you know who you are
) ..
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=664146.0Just thought others might want to read and comment ( from about the 5th page on ) ..
As I understand it, a position in Bitshares-PTS ( Old Protoshares )
entitles the holder to a minimum 10% participation in any subsequent DAC
developed/released by the Bitshares/Invictus group/entity ..
The first being BitShares-X or BTSX ( a distributed exchange ) which is just getting
distributed to the PTS holders as of some date in Feb 2014 when they took a
PTS holder "snapshot" for BTSX distribution purposes ..
I think ( if I read it correctly ) that each PTS coin got ~670 BTSX coins ..
For some reason 50% of BTSX was allocated to the PTS holders rather than just 10% ..
The Bitshares platform is also "open" to any 3rd party DAC developer with the
implication that they too would offer PTS holders at least a 10% participation,
though that doesn't seem to be carved in stone ?? Looks like a viable platform for
future project realeases and apparently several more DACs are in the pipeline ..
One note, their forum is a complete mess and the 'client'/wallet needed to
hold your PTS coins is a non-starter .. lots of posts complaining about how
unuseable it is etc etc ..
Another coin that caught my eye ( and a few $$$ ) is KARM ..
Nothing special about the technicals of the coin except that they
have a for profit Karmashares LLC in place for future development
of for profit projects ( social network site, search engine in beta etc ) with
profits ( if any ) going to KARM coin/Karmashares holders
Are they ( Bitshares primarily ) up to anything that NXT can't do better ??
I'm 80% invested in NXT btw ( best wallet in cryptoland ) ..
Just trying to keep informed about the potential competition
Decided to pass on Etherium for example ..
Triff ..
