Great things were made by shady activities...Even the US was built on the back of slavery Vegas mobster...Even know cheap labor Mexicans working off the book ...Why should there be 00% in transparency that's what the NSA is for to spy on us!
Not to mention wars basically saved us economically at least twice (of course now they're doing the opposite, but whatever).
The porn industry has pushed numerous technologies to the consumer level that were previously prohibitively priced.
The result is what matters to many. Not saying that I technically agree with social and technological evolution being driven by 'shady' forces as the
best solution to problems... but it often is the only viable solution presented.
What about adding anon transactions in another way, without changing the coin?
Something like an anonymous usable escrow portal or something?

This. I think it's a great idea as long as it doesn't prevent full accountability and transparency for those that wish to conduct legitimate business transactions and/or investment potential for individuals that wish to remain
within the legal boundaries of their country. This also fits well with the branding ideas of "BLACK".
On the one side we have a negative connotation...
- "Black hat"
- "Black market"
- "Blacklisted"
- "A black mark"
And on the other side, a positive (or exclusive) one...
- "Black tie" or "Black gala"
- "VISA Blackcard"
- "Johnnie Walker Black Label/Double Black"
- "Little Black Dress"
I see no reason why one is necessarily mutually exclusive of the other, especially where money is concerned. Paper currencies and precious metals/stones are routinely used for 'less than legal' transactions - yet that doesn't necessarily reflect poorly on the currency itself (however, I suppose that's debatable depending on who you talk to).
I think the tl;dr is that crypto currencies are popular (at least in part) simply because they are seen as a way of facilitating financial transactions that are at least partially anonymous... and I can't see adding technology to implement/further that being a bad thing. I simply believe that it should be done as a service and not as an intrinsic feature - that way no matter what people want to use it for... they can.
