My ideas to increase FRAC trading volume:
1) short term - play on the "Fractal" name - set up a tipping bot and pro-actively tip Fractal coins to fractal artists - there are a lot of them on deviantart and fractalforums.  Do some outreach to get established in that community.  Techies with GPU's are disposable income are a good base.  Tipping within a specific community will at least keep circulation up and make mining profitable and raising awareness.

2) Long term: Combined Frac Mining  / GPU Rendering pool.  This is a little beyond my tech abilities to build on my own, but I think it would be worth the work. The basic idea would be to team up with a developer for a fractal rendering app like mandelbulber, which has a distributed "net render" mode for rendering fractal animation videos.  Combine this with an X11 mining client so you could either mine for FRAC, or contribute your CPU / GPU cycles to rendering fractal videos.  This would create an "asset" to back fractalcoin with - you'd be leasing your GPU cycles to rendering graphics (Getting paid in FRAC).  Gridcoin might be a relevant implementation model here - they provide Gridcoin subsidies if you do distributed research calculations (BOINC)  along with the regular crpytocoin POW.

There's too many GPU's and too many coins out there and eventually ASICs are going to move in to any profitable algorithm. Eventually it will become worth it to re-monetize the existing network of GPU mining rigs thru the actual Processing of Graphics. Fractal art is a good place to start with a hybrid crypto-mining / rendering pool setup.  Combining crypto mining with leasing of GPU's paid in crypto is a nice closed loop for the right coin (like a coin that's already designed as an economic closed loop).

This is a long term project - I'm bagholding a fair amount of Frac and would be willing to contribute some promotional effort and some web dev as applicable, or to help hash out the idea.

(BTW The rich list server for FRAC blew up 2 weeks ago while I was on vaction (ran out of disk space and corrupted the DB's) and I haven't been able to set up a new one yet. I should be able to have it back on line this week and I apologize for the downtime).

Come on devs! This is pretty much your last chance to act! You created this, you got people to invest their hard earned $, they deserve better than to have to sit idly by on the sidelines and watch as this coin is dismantled. I lost a bunch of BTC on this, as I know a lot of other people did. Give us the respect of an update at least. I know it looks bad right now, but it can always come back. You've come farther than most coins ever do purely on goodwill. Pay it back.

Do you know it would take 0.26296128btc to get FRAC to 45k satoshis on poloniex?! I was messing around today and bought the price up to 1.9k from 1k, placed some orders and guess what? OTHER PEOPLE NOTICED AND STARTED TRADING TOO!!! If you've got FRAC, do us all a favor and start trading it. Let's get something started here. If you look at the 'all' chart there's good history and a ton of potential. Devs should also maybe talk to jl777 about the Supernetwork project, maybe Fractalcoin+Slingshield is something that could be perfect for it. Look at Boolberry, similar chart except for the massive gains lately because they are now associated with the Supernetwork. Maybe it's not right, I don't know a TON about it but it's worth a shot.

I'm gonna keep trading, someone come join me.

Everybody wants to pump and dump but nobody wants to be a market-maker  Undecided
If the prices get pushed around and get out of line between exchanges, people will start sending FRAC between exchanges for the arbitrage, which will bring up the mining rewards   Wink
And at these prices it's cheap to do it and get some movement going.

Hi everyone, new new in mining how to mine fractalcoin? I have wallet , how can I mine ?

Fractalcoin uses X11 algo.

You must subscribe to a pool, like the ones mentioned in the OP, set your worker, configure your miner software (your command line), input your wallet adress in the pool page, and you are ready.

How are you gonna mine? Via CPU? GPU? FPGA farm?

Cheers

Bittrex again - This market is in danger of de-listing due to low trade volume and lack of user interest. It may be removed on Sept 12th unless the average daily trade volume for the last 7 days exceeds 0.1 BTC

Keep it going guys

what is the concensus here? It looks like the devs have abandoned the coin. If they are too busy to work on it, they should give ownership to another dev that can put in time to turn this coin around

Yes, sell:

<@earlz> yea, I'm not really working on FRAC anymore. Not enough time, and too many other projects
<CDarvin81> Ah ok whats the new project? Is it dead?
<@earlz> I'm not going to say it's dead. But the percentage based fees were less effective than I expected at least
<@SkunkMonkey> Sometimes shit just don't pan out Sad
<CDarvin81> Hmm yes will look if i had time after SEPA then i could add some new. Or better let it be?
<@earlz> eh, I think the primary design is just flawed. percentage fees have too many infrastructure difficulties, difficult to properly enforce, and make a lot of legit transaction types expensive
<@earlz> If we make another coin in the future, we might do a swap, but yea. We're not expecting to work on fractalcoin anymore
<+Crat0sW0rk> lot of sell orders just went up
<@earlz> eh

Has there been a fork?   I got an alert from the client.

Multipool - Always mine the most profitable coin - Scrypt, X11 or SHA-256!
