NEM Community out there! The Catapult migration committee is looking to hear your thoughts on branding for Catapult. There is a survey going on right now to gauge your opinions about it. If you sincerely care about NEM, kindly answer it out. Here is the link for the survey form.

"NEM brand was damaged by negative press after the Coincheck hack in 2018"

Was that really so?    ... NEM's brand was damaged?  though the hack's reason was not in NEM system (if I remember it correctly).

Edit:

what will be the brand of a new system, whose name has meant a weapon during thousands of years?
How such will be branded to crypto future?

Why wouldn't Catapult be just the project name, but the crypto / system would have another name?
If NEM's name really is damaged, then a new name should be created.

I thought a brand new name doesn't change the fact on that hacking. But looking at the NEM team, it is changed as well. So maybe it is time for NEM to rebrand as well as well.

I read the survey's last questions only after writing the post above:)  : There is a question about "a specific alternative name for Catapult".

What block explorer shows correct values?
http://chain.nem.ninja/ not show my last incoming transaction for 2019-10-31 and Balance (network) > Balance (nembex). What is Balance (nembex)?
http://explorer.nemtool.com/ shows all transactions.
So does http://chain.nem.ninja/ get transactions info with some mistakes? Or there was some problems with that transaction?

sooooo, now it is closed !   ... missed it, while thinking the names :-(

That is the problem : clarity is still missing from NEM team.
E.g. Always in the beginning of the survey must be told, how long the survey is open, and how long the survey will approximately take.

About the name:
Catapult means weapon. According to the survey's answers it seems that many do not understand it.
Is a weapon name suitable in the world, where is many quite liberal movements (tho many are not-fact-based, but they guide the masses).

For the name must be arranged another survey, with rewards.

https://forum.nem.io/t/nem-foundation-technology-department-update-november-2019/23851

Summary is below, but more detailed information and external links are on the Official NEM forum link above.

October Tech Update

Contributions Period: October 2019

Summary

• Core devs released a new version of Catapult, codenamed Fushicho 2. The update comes with an optimization of binary transaction layouts to maximize alignment of fields, an added transactionHash for aggregate transactions with merkle hash of embedded transactions and a few bugfixes as reported on Github.

• NEM Foundation is maintaining multiple test networks for Catapult. We have executed a network reset and are planning on more tests during this month, notably some with public test networks. Stay tuned!

• The NEM Developer Center is constantly being updated to integrate latest Catapult features. Find out what has been worked on by our Technical Writers.

• A new version of the Command Line Interface for Catapult is now available (nem2-cliv0.13.4 3) with an update of the SDK and added persistent delegation request command.

• The Block/Network Explorer (Super Explorer Framework) project has seen many contributions over the course of October and is now running on pair with the NEM Foundation Testnet for Catapult.

• The Desktop Wallet project has also seen many contributions and the team is currently working on latest protocol compatibility to match our upcoming Testnet upgrade.

• The Mobile Wallet project is moving along with new features such as a dashboard for pending transactions.

at few weeks the public Catapult testnet will be out, help NEM to stress-test that public network and give feedback

super""""""

Do they have some reward program for testers and where is the subsription to this program or how we can participate? Have they announced exact data of launch already?

Maybe you should ask the "NEM Foundation's President" to curve some of that sweet $$$ SHE has been using for all that PLASTIC SURGERY to her face for actual NEM DEVELOPMENT.

Hm... president of Nem Foundation is the woman now? They are changing CEOs very often...

Btw, when is the testnet will be out and ongoing? And what about rewards for testers? And when is the mainnet of Catapult planned?

Yes the president of the foundation was elected, and is a woman - this happened a long while ago.  As far as I'm aware there have only ever been two presidents, and one interim president during the transition.

Bitcoin Garden: NEM Ventures Announces Investment in Cyclebit
https://bitcoingarden.org/nem-ventures-announces-investment-in-cyclebit/

NEM Ventures, the venture capital and investment arm of the NEM blockchain ecosystem, has made a strategic investment in Cyclebit, a leading provider of simple, affordable and robust tools for retailers to accept cryptocurrencies and fiat for in-store, online and on-the-go purchases.

Commenting on the announcement, Dave Hodgson, Director and Co-founder of NEM Ventures, said: “Cyclebit is already an established player in the crypto and fiat payments space, and we are thrilled to make a strategic investment in this project at a time of major growth for the organization. With an existing global presence and the potential to help bring crypto to the mainstream, we are aligned in our vision to bring crypto to mass adoption.”

Cyclebit is committed to bridging a crucial gap in the road to the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies by partnering with brick-and-mortar retailers around the world and installing point of sale (PoS) terminals that allow consumers to pay in crypto. In doing so, Cyclebit is bridging the gap between traditional businesses and shoppers who wish to transact using new digital currencies, which is already allowing some Canadian citizens to pay their municipal taxes in crypto and fiat, for example. With 200,000+ PoS terminals at present, the platform supports millions of transactions per month....

If I'm not mistaken, according to their past communication and Tweets, they'll NOT require any KYC to their customers. Just take note that I based that comment according to their announcements few months ago. That might have changed today or not. The best way is to contact them through Twitter. They're quite active there and you'll get a prompt response from them on a time manner.

Exodus does not require any registration or KYC. It's a non-custodial wallet where all your info and private keys are stored encrypted on your own device.
