I don't get what NXS has to do with this whole Vectorspacesys thing
Every coin uses the Internet for coordination of its blockchain. It's ubiquitous, it's convenient. But depending on this does has a major flaw for a currency. Your Internet may be limited due to location.. hard to get a hookup in the Congo even by phone dialup. Or maybe you just have a solar powered vending machine on a mountain trail far from a cell tower. More importantly your Internet may be limited or blocked due to government control.. have you seen many blog posts from North Korean citizens? And perhaps most importantly your Internet (and therefore currency transactions) are monitored by governments (and not just yours), no matter how high your tech savvy level is. So it's useful to have an alternative way to optionally, additionally, access a blockchain, making the currency usable without using the Internet. This second method doesn't have to be commonly used, it just has to be POSSIBLE.. we just need a "backup channel" to the blockchain for needed robustness. You need it to coordinate blocks and transactions globally and with low latency (though not much bandwidth), and be completely independent of the Internet. What kind of communication system can do that? There's really only one answer: Communication satellite constellations. Because it's so low bandwidth, you can use tiny cheap satellites. Guess what Vectorspacesys does? The Nexus Earth site doesn't really explain the importance and appeal of this, but that's likely because they (quite properly) shouldn't hype a future feature that's planned but doesn't actually exist yet. You want to say that each satellite they launch will contain on board a mini PC with a NEXUS wallet and a certain number of coins to support the node? But you probably know that the lifetime of satellites as a rule is no more than 10 years. After that, they slowly fall and burn in the atmosphere. This means that all the coins that will be on this space node will also burn. Is this provided by the system or did you just make your own guess?

No, you use satellites for communication, not for wallet storage. Your PC/phone currently send and receive block transactions only from the Internet where nodes continually agree by consensus on the blocklist state. A satellite communication channel would be the new way to communicate with nodes that does NOT route through the Internet. The satellite itself could indeed be a node, but it would also work as a mere communication channel between Earth based nodes. Making the satellite a node would require more work, since indeed it basically needs to be a PC powerful enough to hash-check transactions and such. Not sure if the significant added complexity and wattage of that would offset the communication savings. Yes, small sats like these have lifetimes measured in years, maybe not even 10 years. That's why you launch hundreds (or thousands?) at once, and then periodically to keep them "in stock".

That's why you launch hundreds (or thousands?) at once, and then periodically to keep them "in stock". These are (some of the) reasons Nexus may benefit from microsatellites, leaving out the obvious one of providing connectivity where infrastructure is poor, and, with connectivity, communication and digital currency exchange. But the reverse direction is just as interesting. I think it might be more interesting, in the longer term. In addition to satellite launch capability, Vector is developing a software-defined satellite platform called Galactic Sky: http://www.intelligent-aerospace.com/articles/2016/08/vector-space-launches-galactic-sky-software-platform-and-satellite-design-division-to-provide-access-to-satellites-space-data.htmlJust like using earth-based cloud computing, Galactic Sky aims to let people rent (short-term or long-term) part of the capability of a microsatellite, be it for communication, imaging, secure storage, or a combination. This would be a transformative thing: Today, doing just about anything on a satellite costs millions to hundreds of millions of dollars. Imagine a smart imaging analytics startup being able to rent the compute capability of one microsatellite for one trip around the earth. Today, they would need to pay tens of thousands (or more) of dollars to pay an imagery company for a full data dump. With a software-defined satellite platform, they could perform their analysis local to the camera, never having to downlink the data back to earth, except the pictures deemed most important. and when you have a virtualized platform like this, you need a way to pay for it. You could set up a huge payments infrastructure like Amazon does, but Jim Cantrell seems to have a pretty strong libertarian streak to him (to say the least), and I bet the idea of being able to use a completely decentralized, verifiable electronic currency platform to manage the resource rental must be very attractive. If nothing else, you don't lose 3%+ to the credit card companies, and at best, you enable a huge global audience to gain access to your platform with very low overhead. The Nexus-Vector partnership is a long game. An interesting one, but also one that calls for patience. Real rockets, the kind we saw successfully launch today, don't get built overnight.

Hello guys, I'm trying to recover an old nexus wallet - from 2014, so I've downloaded the latest client and synced it fully. Then I removed the default wallet.dat and instead moved to the .Nexus dir my old wallet from 2014. Now if I try to run Nexus QT I get "Error Loading wallet.dat: Wallet requires newer version of Nexus" Anyone know how can I solve it? Tried google but there is almost 0 information about, the only thing I've managed to find is this error in source code of Nexus client but I'm not a programmer to fully understand the code around it. Thanks in advance!
Hi, I think you should open the wallet first (no syncing - just for creating the Nexus folder in AppData/Roaming), close it, remove wallet.dat and insert your old one, then open the wallet again and then let it sync. I tried to put my wallet.dat to a synced wallet and it didn't work, then it tried it like above and it worked. You can give it a try.

I would do the opposite, let the wallet fully sync close it and replace wallet.dat with ur original wallet.dat. Once wallet is open goto debug console and run the repairwallet and rescan commands.

The new miner for the Prime channel is now out!! I have just uploaded the new Windows binaries, and these can now be found here http://www.nexusminingpool.com/downloads/PrimePoolMiner.zip. I will get them moved onto the nexusearth site shortly. The source code is in the main Nexus git repo here https://github.com/Nexusoft/PrimePoolMiner. This miner is running around 4-5x faster than the old one, so a significant improvement indeed. Those compiling on linux are currently getting around 15% better speed than those using Windows, as it is using some assembler code to optimize part of the prime checks, and this code does not currently compile on Windows. You will notice that the PPS metric has now disappeared, and has been replaced by a bunch of other metrics to help you tune the miner. I won't go into the details here, but the key metric to note is the ShrVal/h, or share value per hour. This is the best indicator of the "worth" your miner is producing and what you should ultimately use to gauge the performance. As such I have replaced PPS with ShrVal/h on the nexusminingpool.com front end (in your own stats). WPS is still useful as an indicator, especially over shorter runs of minutes to hours, so we are leaving that in for now. The new miner is very sensitive to the number of threads allocated to the "sieve_threads" and "ptest_threads" values in the config file. The aim is to tweak these values so that the Siv/s and Tst/s metrics in the out out are as close as possible to each other. In our testing we have found that values of sieve_threads = 5 and ptest_threads = 8 works well as a starting point on many 8-core systems. As with the previous miner, the "bit_array_size" should ideally be tweaked so that the *value / 8* fits into your CPU L3 cache This miner can also be used for SOLO mining, for those with enough power at home to warrant doing so, and enjoy the same speed improvements as pool miners. There are example .conf files for both pool and solo mining. For more help with the config or any other questions you have, please come and ask in the #mining channel in slack. Lastly, we have to thank @mumus for his excellent work in developing this update. He has done this work for free, so I do encourage you to throw some tips his way!

:BEGIN nexus_cpuminer.exe 23.92.19.104 9549 2xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 3 goto BEGIN
Use the bat file above, begin - goto begin so if pool restart it will auto reconnect you. Yep, thanks, I have it like that, I just copied only the important part. :-) But I still get the error message. :-/ Failed to Connect to Mining LLP Server...It could be also problem on my side maybe, I've switched my pc to a new wifi, so maybe there is some restriction on the firewall, I need to dig deeper to find out where is the problem. Did you manage to get it to work? mining and keep on it is necessary now.

There are two wallets that use different databases, one loads faster the other one slower, but one of them can stake the other can't. I'm not sure which is which. This issue will be addressed with the next wallet updates though - so it's a temporary inconvenience. For people asking about mining performance and not getting answers you might be better off joining Nexus's Slack and visiting #mining channel. Slack Invite ---> http://nexusearth.com:3000/

The oracle wallet is meant for staking but sync's at a slower pace. Best thing to do would be to download the recent database - also available on nexusearth.com - and simply copy paste it in the roaming folder. Saves you a lot of synching time. The lld wallet syncs much faster but staking is not recommended on it. As popshot already mentionned : you get more answer on the slack channel http://nexusearth.com:3000/
