Opinions on if Litecoin is dead or not ....may vary, but question is how long can it sustain the pressure of continuous dumps ?

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

In the abstract, that depends on how much buying pressure there is.

But right now, I have to say that it ain't.

If you go on the LTC forums you'll see nothing but scams, there really is no litecoin community. The coin was created for those that missed the boat with Bitcoin.

Think of how many bagholders there are, they will all be desperate to unload if there was ever a recovery in price. That's why you never see an alt coin recover after a pump and dump, too many bagholders praying for a chance to unload their bags if the price shows even a little bit of life the bagholders will dump into it.

The ones who got the coin to $40 last year already cashed out long ago dumping on all the noobs, creating new bagholders all year as the price has plummeted. Those bagholdes are an anchor on the price. It's impossible for the price to come back when the bagholders will sell into any buying, accept it litecoin is shit and dead. Wish I knew that when I saw this thread in June, I was thinking LTC is a legit coin and the price will recover..I was delusional, it was a shit coin created for those who missed the BTC boat to get a second chance to cash in, and they did.

You just described 99% of alts. Maybe more.

FWIW, I think Charles Lee created Litecoin out of genuine technical interest. It was the subsequent bunch of fools, pumpers, and charlatans who drove its price and absurd rhetoric.

You used the word bagholder seven times in your post. Overkilll don't ya think?

Considering the current state of Litecoin, mockery should be replaced by pity.

I have been saying Litecoin is dead since it hit $10... It really shouldn't be more than pennies! No buyers and way too much supply

Hopefully you guys have been shorting it down since I made this post, I am sure some people listened and made good money... for others, It isn't too late!! Short it to pennies where it belongs! Everyone is selling this for Bitcoin anyway.

If we all don't come together to buy bitcoin and not bullshit alt coins then none of these coins will exist soon  Cry

Not true. Bitcoin is a black hole for your money. There is no sense in buying it as it constantly looses value due to inflation. Litecoin is just worse that's why it even make less sense to buy right now.

We should all stop supporting inflationary currency at least until their inflation is smaller. Inflation doesn't make sense.

Buy bitcoin and litecoin not before year 2020 if you like profit.

You sound like a guy who enjoys buying a bag of 100% pre-mined coins.

Still using LTC to transfer funds between exchangers, since it is quick. And secondary reason for that transfer not to end up onto the BTC ledger, which is allready to huuge anyways.

But that's it. I would not dare to hodle a coin with such a huge POW imposed inflation. Did you ever calculated that up as a yearly inflation?! Numbers are horrible.

The problem is that LTC is not ASIC resistant and barely any sort of improvement over BTC. The sharper people will continue to get out while the price steadily goes down. Leaving a bunch of true believing bag holders in the end. I ask though, what makes anyone think LTC will break away?

Bitshares has 10 second block confirms which blows away LTC.  The dilution they added has put them in a spot to continue improvement on their blockchain.

Maidsafe will be a new anti-censorship internet.

Ethereum will bring about smart contracts.

Do yourself a favor and divest from LTC into BitShares, MaidSafe, or Ethereum if possible.

yes but I don't think you get it, BTC and LTC have their own markets across all exchanges, a handful of other alts do from time to time like cryptsy now has a XRP market, but BTC and LTC are the main ones across exchanges, and are the currency used for trading all other alts. thats the point for traders in using LTC over BTC on these exchanges LTC travels much fast (and opportunity costs).

added to that the trading vol in LTC alone is more then all these other alts put together, ask any trader liquidity is more important then price.

u see all these noobs promoting the latest crapcoin and FUDing LTC in this thread don't have much of any alt, so they have little understanding of whats needed for decent trading (and if they don't have much of anything why trust their advice).

Maybe this will change cuz i have noticed that huge amount of LTC faucets occur.
And they give from 5000-15000 litoshi per hour.
Maybe this is the way to have some pump or something like that.

Do you use ASIC or GPU?
