That's good news. If they launch these miners, I think this will bring positive changes to Litecoin, since the number of people mining and supporting the network will surely increase. But what really can bring progress to the currency is the implementation of SegWit. If this really happens, Litecoin can even be seen as more than a testnet for Bitcoin, and get the attention of big investors.

Mining and trading a coin is fine, but increasing user base and the amount of services that accept a coin is the only way to increase its price and keep it growing.

I don´t believe that Litecoin is dead. It is just going through a bad phase. I admit that there haven´t been any developments with the Coin but it is still pretty popular in China. I still believe we will see a comeback

OK... Litecoin second trading volume to Bitcoin today, before Ethereum... yep - you must be right - Litecoin is indeed very dead!

Mate trading volume don't means anything about quality of the coin. It only means that there many chinese who is trying to sell their coins to stupid hamsters. I think, when they say "dead coin" it means that it's coin without future. And yeah, Litecoin is seems haven't no future. There many better coins than it. (Ethereum as an example)
Even bitcoin death wouldn't help it.

This coin is in so strange situation that can't be explained. It's on 4th place, it was most popular altcoin and still if any company accepts altcoin, litecoin is 100% in their list. I want to sy that it's somehow popular in services but there is no big talk around it. Zcash which is on 16th place gained more popular here. To my mind many activity and good jobs from deceloper's side can to reborn this coin.

Dont underestimate not just litecoin but any other altcoin. For every coin comes the time when they go up, LTC price is bad by my opinion it should be around 7-8 dollars but im not the one who will determine the price or anything involving it. Coin is stable that is what will i say but definitely not dead. Still they are lot of miners who mined it and not just chinese.

simple. hype. zcash has more. any time there's a new toy to play with people start to get dollar signs in their eyes. doesn't matter if it's any good or if it'll actually work.

litecoin is good and it works. that's not enough to get people excited right now. i hope the scene will mature enough for it to actually count for something but we're a long way away from that yet.

it has 4x the capacity and no political assholedom hindering it.

of course most of that's down to no one using it but it also means that it might set itself up as a real contender technically while everyone's still on the same page. if they can push through fixes for all of bitcoin's glaring weaknesses then it would become the clearest alternative if bitcoin properly falters.

Actually smart contracts can be built on top of LTC just like it can be built on top of BTC. Feel free to read about rootstock if your interested. The advantage is that the base chain is not built on a turing complete platform and therefore a lot less can go wrong.

LTC is heading towards segwit adoption, the lightning network, safer smart contracts and sidechains. It will take time that's for sure; but, that's better than rushing into disaster after disaster like Ethereum seems to encounter.

For long term perspective, LTC has been dumped from 0.05+ btc ATH to 0.003X btc, current price is only 7% of ATH price, definitely LTC dies slowly and no future, I have dumped all of my ltc above 0.02 btc. No more dream on ltc, it is worthless and the toy of Chinese miners.
