There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Seems to me like we have to stick with the most obvious solution at this point...

ok like 55 minutes ago there was written under the 1 first OP post

*wow+crops

(also could have been *wow.jpg+crops.jpg)

We've completely ignored the Crops.jpg.

May I ask again: If somebody correctly aligned (and optionally cropped the non-changed parts, so the changed parts can be bigger) the original Crop.jpg and changed Crop.jpg can he please post it again so the differences can be examined. Thanks.

Note that our solution of Crops.jpg is what got us to Wow.JPG. We didn't just put it off to one side.

Was there something on Crops.jpg that wasn't translated?

Sorry if I missed something, but can you remind me what was the solution to Crops.jpg? I don't remember we used anything from that image.

How did you even get to doing that? Doesn't make any sense given the source material.

Crops solution:

morse code for the dots that had been changed (the reader is left to figure out what is a dash and what is a dot)
$!!!!!$!@@@!$!!!!!$@!$!@@@!$@!!!!$!!!!!$!@@@$@!$!@@@$!@!!$@!$!@@@!$@@@!!$!@@@@$@!!$!!!$@!!$@@!!@$

this translated into: 0-0A-10BABYA-36WOWĐ

someone managed find the "Wow! signal" wikipedia page with google fu that presumably involved the 'WOW' and something about crop circles or aliens. the wiki page prominently features a zoomed-in version of the wow image

several of us figured out that hashing '6EQUJ5' worked as a password for the 7z, and most of us were probably all startled that it worked.

So to your earlier question, the data left in it is unaltered binary from the original crop circle message.

not that this would make much of a difference, but i converted punctuation differently using the wikipedia article:
0 = 0a = 10babya = 36wow? o

Yeah, I was working off of a vaguely questionable table that I downloaded a few days ago. There's all sorts of weird Morse variants out there. Alphanumeric is consistent across the board but the rest is a bit of a crapshoot. For the purpose of the puzzle I assume wikipedia is safest.
