NEW WEB INTERFACE

P2Pmining.com

To celebrate release of the new web interface, I will be subsidizing the pool 1 BTC per day for the next 7 days starting tomorrow.  This subsidy only goes to contributors to p2pmining.com , not the entire p2pool.

Thanks for playing

Cool. Will this go to everybody on p2pmining.com, or will it be like p2pool where smaller miners get entered in a lottery-type thing? Also, does this get sent out directly to the payment address, or is it just reflected in the balance shown on the site?

I just wanted to give people a way to contribute to the P2Pool hash rate easily and with less variance. I also want to develop a better user interface for miners to monitor statistical data. It is also a way for me to start my own pool with low initial hash rate and low variance.  I may release the code in the future so others can have there own P2Pool pools. It's just a few PHP scripts and a database on top of P2Pool and Bitcoind.

eta for releasing the code?

Probably around June.  There are a few more things I want to try and I also need to add lots of comments.

There is a possibility that I will be switching to dynamic difficulty shares to increase efficiency.

Right, but if I'm mining through p2pmining, but have a hash rate of only, say, 10–20 Mh/s, will I still see an (albeit small) piece of the subsidy each time it goes out? With p2pool's global subsidies, my hash rate was too low for me to ever see one. I'm wondering if it will be different here since p2pmining is mentioned as being particularly friendly to small miners.

Even the smallest miners will get a part of any subsidies received by p2pmining.com for both p2pool wide subsidies or p2pmining.com only subsidies.

How is your BIP16 support, p2pool, are you using at least 0.6 rc3 of bitcoind?

For Bitcoin to be a true global currency the value of BTC needs always to rise.
If BTC became the global currency & money supply = 100 Trillion then ⊅1.00 BTC = $4,761,904.76.

I think .6 is out.  No need for RC (and RC4 was the most recent RC anyways)

Actually they went to RC5 before releasing 0.6 officially.

According to the site, he updated to 0.6 RC4 on March 25th. Smiley

I only mentioned 0.6 rc3 because it was the minimum Gavin recommended.

I've added "BIP16 Supported" to your entry in the P2Pool Server List.

I've added "BIP16 Supported" to your entry in the P2Pool Server List.

Is that really necessary?  Any node not upgraded has been forked from the p2pool as incompatible.

When the pool gets litecoin support, have you considered merge mining liquidcoin with that? Its doing alright on vircurex.

I'm getting some occasional connection problems in both guiminer and cgminer, any ideas?

When was that? I restarted p2pool today but the connection issue should have only lasted about a minute.

Yesterday afternoon, I'm still having issues with it. Cgminer constantly says waiting on fresh work and my mh/s rate drops considerably when that happens, guiminer just says connection problems every 10-15 seconds.

I switched to my other pool, bitlc.net and it just posts accepted shares, no waiting for fresh work. Hash rate increases too.

The goal is to prevent people from wasting their time connecting to a p2pool that hasn't upgraded, that's all.
Most in the list are probably updated to the latest. I'll have to hunt down some infos and make some changes to it.
