Trim pot at the top left is here to allow fan speed control.

When and where can I buy those Huh

Hi Guys,

This is awesome! Great to see such effort, these are the through die-hard miners Wink

I am still running some dc S1 single blades , but a have 4 single S1 blades laying around.
If somebody is interested in them, please give me a PM. (price 5 euro p\v1.3 blade ex. shipping)
Only the blades, no fan and heatsink, so it can be shipped by post. (EU only!)

Keep on the good work guys!

ok so i have finally gotten a few s1's and cp2102 adapters successfully set up and hashing away, but i am at a loss as to why i am getting so very many HW errors.   running cgminer from firewalker with bmsc option enabled on the pi through minera (custom miner built renamed, and selected).

so far i have 8 boards running split into 2 clusters.

for the startup options i have
Code:
--bmsc-options 115200:25 --bmsc-freq 0781 --queue 0 --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 --lowmem --quiet

but i am getting like i said many hw errors (about 300 over a 30 minute span)  any ideas on how i could get those down to reasonable levels?

Code:
  total
ghs total           shares         ac      %ac    rejected  %rejected     hw errors      %hw errors   last share        last share time
390.05Gh/s   13849980988 933 25.75%      6    0.17% 2685            74.09% 1 secs ago Fri, 10 Jul 2015 18:43:31 GMT

I have read about people wanting to use cp2102 with S3 blades.It really is possible and I made a circuit last night and it's working.Cgminer fork is found from this thread and I can give some links and hints if anyone else is still interested about this.All you need is cp2102 adapter,a level shifter (which can be bought ready made or you can build your own) and 1v8 psu.Here are a few pics:
http://kuvapilvi.fi/k/y3fs.jpg
http://kuvapilvi.fi/k/y3fo.jpg
http://kuvapilvi.fi/k/y3fm.jpg
http://kuvapilvi.fi/k/y3f9.png
I modified that level shifter schematic by replacing r6 with 1k2, removed r3,and added 33k from T1 base to gnd.3V3 is from cp2102 and is feeding L1117 and blade's 3v3.1V8 is obvously from L1117.There are different voltage versions of L1117 so use the right one! It is pretty common in old dvr's.
I could have done it fancier but I used parts that I had in my junk box.Few resistors,L1117 1V8 regulator and two 2n3904 npn-transistors.
Happy mining!

I dont know, i used a selfmade level shifter from a BF rig and it didnt want to see the blades, (which i know works because the BF rig hashes).
A controller saw them.

I saw different versions of pcb, not all of them have those RX/TX pads. Also some of them have the 25mhz oscillator on the side, some in the middle and some dont have it at all.

I think some blades die because of those oscillators, i have two that dont hash at all but the voltage out of each vrm is good.

Yeah there are different versions of the blades.Tx and Rx are still same pins in connector.I think too that oscillators kill some blades.I had one which had also voltages ok but no hashing.I really don't have S3's anymore,I bought a couple of blades just to play with.I think I'm going to try if I can get S1 controller to work with these blades.Ofcourse they have to be reprogrammed.

You can flash the s3 on the S1, thats how the blade upgrades work. but im not much of a software expert.

I want to try your schematic but to be honest im lasy of finding the rx/tx pins on my connectors since i dont have the pads.
Would you mind telling which are the pins in question.

Appreciated

Well,pin 1 is marked on pcb. pin1=12V,pin2=Gnd,pin3=3V3,pin4=1V8,5=unknown,6=Gnd,7=TxD,8=Gnd,9=cooler control,10=Gnd.RxD is in the second row same place than TxD.I don't know how the second row is numbered.Three pins in the connector are unknown to me.

Usually and 99% probably under pin 10 is pin 11 and under pin 1 is pin 16 20, thats an international pining standard so everybody numbers connectors that way...usually Smiley

Thanks for the info.

In this case it would be pin 20 under pin 1  Smiley.

I figured out the rest of the pins.So here is complete list of S3 blade/controller pins:
1=12V
2=Gnd
3=3V3
4=1V8
5=temp scl
6=Gnd
7=TxD
8=Gnd
9=Fan PWM
10=Gnd
11=Gnd
12=Fan speed
13=Gnd
14=RxD
15=Gnd
16=Temp sda
17=1V8
18=3V3
19=Gnd
20=12V

With this information it should be able to use S1 controller board for S3 blades.Ofcourse right voltages given to controller and levelshifting tx and rx lines.I'm going to try anyway.

Lets see how it goes.

Thats the hard work done then .... just the details left.
Flashing S3 firmware is the easy part ..... I am also sure you can get away with simply replacing cgminer with one for the S3 (and its conf files!).

Before I forget, GOOD LUCK!
