I'm trying to download the whole blockchain using last commit from github in Linux (ubuntu).

I was stuck at block 2271722. It was not possible to download more blocks as the checkpoint gives an error:

Quote
ERROR: AcceptBlock() : rejected by hardened checkpoint lock-in at 2271723
ERROR: ProcessBlock() : AcceptBlock FAILED

OK, so I look at the source at:

https://github.com/navcoindev/navcoin/blob/master/src/main.h#L101

And I find the following checkpoints:

Quote
static const uint256 CheckBlock43 ("5f24d8893ab34814b691245e5bdac14f06867d9a9b7016a5d64a2e8e4d571b1c"); // Checkpoint at block 2271723
static const uint256 CheckBlock44 ("6afa0ca1da91252d17efaab0eabdb7deff60d80684e12d6045c3766dcc00d0f7"); // Checkpoint at block 2586565

Now I go to the blockexplorer at http://navcoin.org/block-explorer, and I see that the checkpoints that are hardcoded at the source code are wrong!!

http://www.navcoin.org/abe/block/28fe0c8048a2464cac916d2a699f8f7ce3a7d0facfc1c0001cef83b6a2b4b52b

Block 2271723 has a hash value of 28fe0c8048a2464cac916d2a699f8f7ce3a7d0facfc1c0001cef83b6a2b4b52b !!

Same thing happens with block 2586565.

After I removed these checkpoints from the published sourcecode, I am able to continue downloading the blockchain.

Can someone explain me how is possible that these checkpoints are wrong??

Thanks

Hi Mate,

It is indeed surprising that this is the first time we were reported of the same and ofcourse thank you very much for pointing the same. I will publish a new client fixing the issue mate.

And also investigate further why the checkpoint hash is wrong as well as why it came up now.

Thank you very much.

Warm Regards,
~SoopY~

These are great days ahead.
We waited a long time, but it was worth.
The introduction of the first truly anonymous coins will give a new quality in crypto.

Hi guys!

All of our testing is complete. We are currently in the process of resetting the block chain so we can remove our test transactions and bundling the wallet for release.

When we have done this, we will be making our github repository public, providing Bittrex with the source and finalizing the swap date.

To give you a taste of the new wallet in action, I have recorded this screen cast demo of its features!

Holy effing shit guys! THIS IS AMAZING!

I hope you are monetising this vid as it's very informative and should be added to the press materials.

I also can't believe you managed to get Morgan Freeman to do the voice over  Grin

If I was in the NAV dev team I would be very proud right now.

Get tweeting this vid guys it says so much about NAV and how simple and convenient it can be.

Again well done guys!!!!!

Very nice presentation.  Cool

About bittrex trading, let me see if I understand.
Will the wallet allow me to provide my bittrex account credentials that I use now, or will it have its own account on bittrex? How is the btc I have on bittrex accessed through the nav wallet for trading?

Nearly. You don't provide your username and password for bittrex. When you log in to bittrex and go into the settings there is a place you can generate a new api key pair. You can generate one you use for the wallet which can be disabled at anytime you like. Then you enter this api key and api secret into the wallet to use the in wallet trading. You never have to send your password! You can generate as many of these api keys as you like and use them for different services then disable them at will without ever divulging your bittrex details. Api keys are designed to be a safe way to use services without compromising your passwords. Make sense?

I'm thinking about the integrated exchange for a while and come to the conclusion that you better not use it if you want to achieve total anonymity!

The reason is that you will expose your ip address when your wallet uses their web api for trading.  Shocked

Am I right about that? Maybe a dev can have a look at it and confirm, thanks.
