There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Is the dev still active?
Re-reading some posts, I'm just curious how this will work when implementing the anon features and future of this coin as it states in the ann post that it'll be community driven. I respect the idea, but I just want to be clear on the dev's intentions. Based on his/her past post history it seems they're genuinely interested in making a quality coin and everything has gone well so far, but I'm a little bit wary based on the comment about them not being a technical dev. Is that hinting that the work may have to be done by community members and those interested in the coin?
Hello!

I am part of BTCD community now and I happen to be developing a cryptonote fork to add anon features to NXT. It turns out that my methods should apply to BTCD also. I will be working on integrating cryptonote tech into BTCD, but it is more than "just" cryptonote anon tech as I am also making my solution include a near realtime exchange (InstantDEX) so people can directly trade just by running the coin.

How will all this work you ask?
https://github.com/jl777/pNXT has the current source code and it is rapidly being developed.

Once InstantDEX is done, I will be adding Privatebet (peer to peer sportsbook) to the pNXT framework, plus the way it is implemented there is no reason any other number of useful services cant be added.

My efforts are in parallel with all the other BTCD coders and I try to design a clever way to integrate to require minimal changes to the BTCD codebase. So, if I succeed, then all the peoples selling at current prices will not be so happy.
There is no reason that other anon tech in BTCD can't combine with the cryptonote tech, in fact pushing tx through two independent anon algos would only help if it is done properly. So, I bring very good news to BTCD and now I expect a massive in increase in the FUD level Smiley

James

P.S. I am not so active on BTT, but you can find out more about me on NXT forums and jl777.org

Great to have you onboard James!

Exciting times ahead!

Great news!

Do you have an expected timeline for implementation.
It is never possible for accurate timeline for things that have never been done before.
This certainly qualifies as "never been done before"
That being said, I am fulltime+ (100+ hrs per week) on this and I do code pretty fast, so I hope to be done by end of summer with initial release

Also, the amount of people who help test can really accelerate the timeframes, especially with network stuff, I literally cant create the real world scenarios that a half dozen active testers can.

Currently, things are "early alpha"

James
JL777 is absolutely the man of NXT. Cool

This development is amazing.

I'm still in awe with these prices.  The network hashrate is just fucking nuts.  Demand for this coin is off the charts

That's because it's the first altcoin to come around in a while that has a real plan, honest devs, and actual value. This coin is what Bitcoin should be. Sure, the price will fall at some point, but it's not going away anytime soon.  Grin

I agree this coin is legit.

Everyone is buying and staking, there's a shortage of supply on bittrex.

I'm earning stake about once every 5 minutes.

You can split your coins into separate addresses within your wallet.  Each address will stake at different times and you'll get more consistent earnings than if you stake one big chunk.

But if you send to another adress in the same wallet? Doesn't it affect coin age?

I personally should have hit the exchange last night and got coins from the dumpers.  6TH netted me 192 coins, could have got 600 at last nights rate.

At this point buying is better, unless price of rentals crash hard

Yes, I bought all my BTCD on Bittrex, then split them into 8 addresses.

I went to settings -> options -> display - then checked "display coin control"

I can control which of the 8 addresses I send BTCD from, so 7 of my addresses are free to age and stake.

The price increase has been perfect! Nice and gradual. No pump and dump here.
